As I've said in replies to some other comments, focusing on one track at a time is an entirely legal way to complete this. However, what makes this challenge interesting is trying to achieve the fastest time, which involves having to focus on as many tracks as you can simultaneously. If you were to play back each of these courses one by one, it would take approximately 7 minutes, however I managed to complete them in 3.5 minutes, which is a massive improvement! (Worth noting is that if I tried to make these tracks finish at the same time, it would have been slower for ALL of the tracks - breaking them up a little near the end actually makes all of them faster) The ultimate goal I’m working towards is actually to complete all 32 tracks, but instead of doing them one track at a time (I tried this in 2021, and it took over 20 minutes), I’m doing it in groups of multiple tracks, and will hopefully be a lot faster (10-15 minutes?). Obviously, if I were to do 32 tracks at the same time, that would be great, but that is a step too far. Focusing on 8 was hard enough (especially considering I never really did focus on all 8 at the same time).

@@Kierio04 Okay, I understand your goal now. Despite being slower, though, watching a simultaneous finish would be extremely satisfying, even if it is only one of many ways to approach the challenge.

@ Yeah, that’s why I put in the extra effort to make it happen in the 3 tracks video (which also would have benefitted from different finishing times)

​@@Kierio04I thought they could only use their mushrooms. Now I realize they can use any controls but only *during* a boost. I think the first 100min submission through me off. I was also thinking this map had some sort of countdown people were bypassing which is some weird thing that explains the 100min time. But I'm still confused why the one took 100 minutes and how so many couldn't finish the course when you get infinite mushrooms, so you shouldn't ever have to stop for that long.

@ Here’s some explanations: - The 100 minute run was a joke submission, there were like 96 extra minutes of unnecessary seconds waiting - You don’t technically have infinite mushrooms per se, as you only get a new one every 10 seconds. If you need mushrooms when you don’t have any, that’s when it becomes impossible to progress, and that’s what happened to everyone outside the top 10. I recommend watching the result stream to see what happened in their runs specifically, and why they couldn’t finish the lap

@@Kierio04 doesn't the mushroom activate the same frame you use it, making it legal to use any time?

While technically that is the case, we consider inputs to happen during the frame before they're registered (which is what happens on console), so the item input is really happening during the frame BEFORE your mushroom boost happens (when performing inputs is illegal).

I use a script that allows a CSV file (spreadsheet) storing the inputs to play those inputs in-game. I then also had a savestate slot for each track which I could switch between, and then 2 bonus slots for deeper track focus.

TAS isn't some bot that you run and hope for good results. I personally had to craft the input sequence required to achieve both of the runs in the video.

It's definitely possible, though (fixed) aerial view would probably be the hardest part - there's groundwork for that kind of camera manipulation with gecko codes but it's unexplored territory. That being said, I don't think it would be as interesting as you think it is, since each vehicle would also move differently on said track :P

You can check out some of the other videos in the playlist linked in the description - I’ve done several of these challenges without falling off! Unfortunately, when doing this many tracks at once, there isn’t really a way to avoid that without it taking significantly longer! It must seem like I’m just not good enough at this, but it’s actually advantageous to respawn, because it gives you the ability to focus more on the other tracks while you’re in a timeout. Occasionally it also helps skip ahead to a later part of the course if you’re lucky with where you respawn, which can cut down on how much time you have to spend on the course!
