Soon, traffic will start using the southern portion of the motorway, from Arawhiti ki Ōkahu (the Ōkahu Viaduct) to Pūhoi road. This will take place in two stages: On the 26th May, northbound traffic from Hibiscus Coast highway will divert onto the new alignment, travelling to Pūhoi road and then either turning left to Pūhoi or right back to State Highway 1. International Women's Day (8 March 2021)
Kai Pai to all that mastered this!!! Legends!
Thanks to all the great roadworkers for delivering this masterpiece!
Amazing video which really shows the immense effort that went into this road - huge thanks to everyone. I've driven this road several times now and it feels like it's been built to a 100 year standard rather than down to a price - this should be the standard for all future motorways.
🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚 Bahahahahaha
is this road open now?
Great news or the north, we'll done, arohanui
thank you to all those involved. that bypasses a lot of very dangerous black spots for which we will be a lot safer. downside of course is that it was promised back in the 90's and we are still waiting on Wellsford.
Realistic vehicles added driving in the right hand lane while not passing anyone
When road engineering equals railway engineering for transport fuel, and time efficiency. Mostly rail takes the best route for this.
Amazing job all involved can't wait to use it soon xx
Great work team. It was delayed a year but the it was worth the wait.
is there a toll fee on this stretch of highway - if so how much each way
The existing toll for the part south of the Johnstone tunnel also covers this part. $2.60 from 1 July. Once you get on the motorway at Warkworth heading south, there is no exit until Orewa. Not even an exit at Puhoi for Southbound traffic.
Should have been open then 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Huge waste of money. Where are the bus lanes and bike path like the north western motorway? I would cycle to warkworth daily if there was a safe separated path. Instead I'll just be another car causing congestion. NZTA is stuck in the 1960's. Building huge roads without alternatives just creates more traffic.
There is like 1 bus an hour on this motorway plus there will probably no cyclists
The only new motorway to not be tolled yet to use it you must pay a toll, and to be open yet its not open, who the hell is in charge of this BS
Looks great. Might I suggest the video be renamed “Warkworth to Puhoi” …
Bunch of useless leaders couldn’t get their priorities straight, every day, SH16 betweenTe Atatu rd and Lincoln rd jammed up, SH1 Greenlane and Penrose Jammed up. Junction of SH 20 and SH20A Jammed up, four lanes traffic merge into three, bloody bus lane is always empty, who the heck designed those road? No lane mathematics no vision. Yet this project took over 8 billion! How much of that money went straight to consultants, give it to China and they will do it better and faster.
Someone has power and is using it for some reason.
NZTA is incompetent this highway is two years late 30% over budget NZTA have missed three opening dates State highway 1 at puhoi is now controlled by a stop go lollipop man We are coming up to another long weekend that will have huge delays caused by NZTA on state highway 1 again
should be called the forgotten highway it has taken so long -
And the final 10% will now take forever to complete
There will be burn outs after its opened to rip up the new seal.Thats what those boy racers do.Abuse all the hard work, then it will need to shut again for repairs. This is what happened to new tar seal in parts of Ak,made a mess of new sealed roads. But traveling up north should be a breeze once its all opened.
It’s time you numnut bean counters stopped bickering over the fine print and opened this road for those who have paid for it to use.
You need to look at the detail. The pale green patches where recent reseeding has occurred and brown patches of clay. More landslides from January and February weather which has been the problem for the project since day 1. Still stabilising the hillsides I would say.
Look at the landslides and dangerous road that we are driving on instead
I drive a highway that is the same length as Puhoi which had a upgrade to the road upgrade which started after this project started it was completely opened about 18 months ago. As soon as parts of the new road were completed this segments were open to the public. It is ridiculous that one of the overpass bridges has been sitting there for over two years completed with no return on investment because it was not opened to the public.
We have paid for and own that new piece of road. We would like to use our road please.
Rubbish music
Not even worried live like 4 hrs away from auckland
Can u at least state whether it will b open by winter ... Looks like winter could b like the cyclones we've had, what if brynderwyns get another slip? Still fixing the current one, we need puhoi
seems like a bunch of sooks commenting below. get over entitlement
I think everyone’s a bit sick of NZ being slack with transport. It’s easy to call people sooks when you’re not affected… Some people have to sit in an hour of extra traffic every day, even though this road could be open but it’s not.
@@waveydaveyyyyy8968 Be grateful thats an option in a few weeks instead of continuing on the old network. You crying about it does what.... yep crickets
Enough of flyovers - time to start driving on it.
looking good. looks like just some drainage to finish off and final inspections.
Looks great but how pathetic is it to have all north bound traffic controlled by a man with a lollipop stop go stick for weeks now. I guess the jokes on us. How much longer now!!! Heads need to roll!
Looks finished to me. Get the bloody thing open. And thanks to the genius who arranged the Puhoi diversion right before Easter.
Better get that last critter bust in. The whiye farm track in the first minute is the edge of the farm. Cant go freaking city slivkers out with skyward spotlights
This is the problem with no government oversight. Milking it for as much billable hours as the budget allows. The notion that the delay is due to testing the new road first, is bovine scatalogy.
It’s a tragedy that this vital road that took years to plan and cost 100’s of millions of dollars and 5 years to build is now ready for use, yet it’s not open and no planned date in sight. We now have a right turn on SH1 at Puhoi that is controlled by a man with a manual stop sign and it took me 1 hour to travel from the Johnstone tunnel to get through that junction. It’s a disgrace. I understand that for some reason they are waiting for the Matakana link road to be finished - but why? and if there is a good reason, put some additional resource on it and get it done!
Bigget disgrace is Takanini to Drury . The need to punch three lanes and a huge roundabout for Pukekohe off ramp for safety.
Yep, can only blame NZTA at this stage, no matter the problems the contractors are always there to get it done. Red tape and bureaucratic goons are in the way here. Someone with some balls get in there and make the hard calls.
Looks Awesome - Whats left to do now . When is it open and rolling
Open that damn thing!!😂😂😂
Can u please open it up now
Amazed no offramp for Warkworth industrial area ,Woodcocks road.Only needed one lane bridge made to two lanes! Also leads best to Warkworth town centre.!! Also no off ramps until Puhoi, this will be a nightmare when an accident happens and the Police close the road. Not able to get off. Both serious issues
Drove it this morning and it was farcical. You drive out of the tunnel and it narrows down to one lane again then you proceed at 50kmph for a bit [it’s a crawl]and then you have to get off the ‘expressway’ and rejoin the rural road adjascent . Yes, it’s all finished as shown in the video but NZTA don’t trust NZ drivers to drive over it. It’s election year so I guess we have to wait for Govt politicians to get their pre election photo op. Meaning it should be open and running by Xmas, if we’re lucky!
Surely they have to stop doing these flyovers from now? Because from here on out for another one, two, three, four, five months, a year - however long it is until these corrupt, completely non-transparent crooks actually open this thing - the videos will start only showing the same, finished road that should be open but isn't
Fake, not actual fly over
OK about something thats not CGI but a really video??
the west side repair work done at the woodcocks under pass is CRAP already the road is damaged due to tar melting on a hot day, then the attempted repair of some of the damage is total DOG SH1T also the area of road at the beginning of the new part of Wyllie road has been damaged and now already has potholes, this was caused by your trucks turning into the area on the right where you guys had mounds of gravel and dirt, are you going to fix that, or will it just be left for us locals to put up with for years to come ????????????
I'm very confident this will open within the next 2 pandemics, and we'll see transparency around "Project Completion Date" after the 2nd. I remember when I chose to hide "Project Completion Date" to my employer and sponsor...oh wait a minute, I haven't tried that yet. Maybe I should?
Typical braindead government employee's. It's from Warkworth to puhoi . SOUTHTOWARDS
i still want to know why this will be only 100kph? like really why cant it be 110kph?
