Sir, what is the namke of the Finish you are using in this video? Id love to try it. "Rubio" ?????
Thanks! I used Rubio Monocoat Pure for the finish, it’s really good
Beautiful work sir
Hey Maurice, so sorry I missed the live. Good to see you back. Can’t wait to start seeing more unique videos from you. Too bad you still haven’t switched over to Vectric, 🤣 but enjoyed your process and innovative designs. Keep up the great work and hopefully catch you doing more videos soon. - Peter
You're doing a fantastic job! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Where or how did you make the color in the wood
Hey! The wood colors are natural. For the red stripes, I ended up using Redheart, the white stripes are curly maple, and the union is Walnut. The border of the of the plaque is Purpleheart. All natural hardwoods :) Cheers
What did you wipe the veneer with after sanding?
The stuff I used was sanding sealer to seal the veneer :)
Not cnc related but a long time ago you mentioned that you were going to do a veneer specific video. Is that still going to happen?
Absolutely!! I need do make another panel soon which is perfect for a how-to for the laser cut marquetry.
I love your passion on CNC and Fusion.!It really inspires me..! Just like Corbin Dunn.! Can You post more Fusion+CNC Based projects like Modern Dining Chair, Tables, doors..etc with CNC features
I'll definitely try!!!
Hi Man, trying to understand the settings you used to get deeper cuts but not so black. Can you share?
Hey! I can’t remember the setting I used for that particular project, but if you increase your speed, it will reduce the burning and prevent the material from getting dark. Even though your power is higher and will cut deeper, increasing the speed will reduce that effect. I believe I was using 30 for power and 450 to 500 in speed. Best way is doing quick test cuts on the same material to really dial in your depth and amount of burn. Hope this helps…cheers!
How much would this go for?
I believe those old growth redwood billets ended up being around the $150 range. No cheap, but they are so great to work with!
Very cool. Brilliant 💯
Thank you! Cheers!
Mais aussi les colorants que tu utilises, je paye tes produits et le transport
Bonjour, peux tu me vendre les produits que tu utilises pour nourrir tes plaques ainsi que tes produits de finitions, je suis acheteur Merci
Great job, where did you purchase the wavey flag file? Thanks
Any chance you'd share your file?
Thats pretty cool
Those are dope
Very nice sir
Great video! thanks for sharing.
Amazing video. I couldn't stop watching once I started. Which table saw sled are you using when you squared your wood? Thanks
Thanks! I have the Jessem Mitre Guage, which is super awesome. I've had it for years and it keeps everything nice and square!
So I'm gonna be trying this, but I'm gonna try an inlay for the stars. Have you ever tried anything like that before? If you ever end up making a video of this, please reply.
When your glue was leaking out of the grooves of the workpiece, my eyes were bleeding. Very sloppy work.
I’ve never seen someone use so much glue. lol
Beautiful
Excellent work, lot of things I have learned .Thank You . Really you are doing it Great .
Excellent. I use Fusion 360 for a lot of stuff but am all self-taught and sometimes it takes forever to figure things out. Excellent job!!!
Have you ever ran into where Fusion will not let you select a pocket when cutting the stars? I do what you do but Fusion will not let me select the bottom face of the star. Its a solid body. Im confused.
@@mitchdomina7607 Hey! Thanks for sending this. When your in your Pencil operation settings, under Geometry, if you click the selection on Machine Boundary, then click the down arrow for geometry selection, you can chose Pockets or Pocket recognition. That should let you select the pockets in your model. Another reason this might be the issue, is your body you’re using isn’t being referenced in your manufacture setup. If you double click your setup, then go to model in the first tab (setup) you should be able to see the correct solid is used for the overall model. If you’re still having issues, please send me the file to edesignandwoodworking@gmail.com and I can take a look at it. Cheers 🍻
What blade are you using to cut both metal and wood? Also what metal is it you’re using? Great work looks awesome 👍🏻🥃🍻
Bravo fantástico que excelente trabajó perfecto 🇲🇽 MÉXICO.
Nice video, but I must say that some audio would be very nice. I am a retired full time marquetarian. I did it all old school, i.e. a scroll saw. Gor a ;aser for a retirement toy and it is really great. I had a question. Is that a sanding sealer you applied? what is it, please? And what is your finish. I always sprayed lacquer.
Hey Nick! Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the earlier videos I didn’t talk/voice over, but the newer videos I try to explain all my workflows. I need to do another marquetry video and do a good voice over with all the steps. Congrats on the laser! It way easier than a scroll saw, but always keep that skill though, it’s a critical skill for woodworking 🤓. The sanding sealer I use is Bulls Eye SealCoat Shellac, and I make sure it’s the clear version without wax. The sealer helps fill in voids and protects the veneer for the follow on steps of what it will be. For the finish, I love using Rubio Monocoat, it’s durable and leaves that natural feel. I have panels that are 2 years old and they look exactly like the day I made them. Thanks for watching and cheers!!
excellent video brother
Fascinating process and a really detailed explaination - makes it sound so simple! I already have a similar project in mind, this will be very helpful. Thank you!
Very nice
Very nice
Wow! That is beautiful! I hope to be that far along at my 2 year mark...I love that you talk over your video. There are a lot of amazing woodworkers out there who don't talk and I have a hard time watching them because I wish they would explain their reasoning and thoughts behind what they're doing. Keep it up
Hi, thanks a lot for the video! Would it be possible to improve the speed and quality of the surface by using the linked processing of the steps? Like processing the rest? Then it could be three passes. The second could be done with a larger ball bit to have the smooth suface and a thinner bit for the third pass for the smaller details? But the linked processing would go only on the left material, so be fast enough…
Yeah that’s definitely possible, just have to keep your zero true though each tool change. You could use resting machine and it would automatically identify the unmachined areas for each tool
True craftsmanship and innovation. Pretty Job!
Very interesting stuff! I like the heat treatment method.
Thanks!
@@EricksonWoodworking you inspired me to start my own restoration business. I appreciate your channel.
Thank you ❤️👍😊
Amazing project and step by step. I've been wanting to get into CNC for a while. But the amount of knowledge of both the 3D tool and CNC specs is overwhelming. What do you recommend to get started?
It definitely can be overwhelming! I went with Carbide3D Shapeoko 4Pro and so glad I did. The machines are great, but their customer service and their online community exceeds all expectations! It got me started and excelled my use far beyond I’d ever thought it would. That would be my best recommendation, the software and CNC bits will come later once you get started. Cheers!
Fantastic video, I agree it was long, but it needed to be to capture all the steps. At your suggestion from a few months ago I started learning Fusion 360. It's a steep learning curve, but this video came along at a perfect time for me to give what I have been doing a try. I'll probably have to go back to the CAM stuff a couple dozens times. :) Thanks for sharing the files again. I really appreciate it. Scott
Thanks Scott!!! If you ever need any help with Fusion, please reach out! Cheers!
This will be my FIRST router job. I have family that love science and I dont sell items. I only give items as gifts as it is about giving my time as that is priceless and one can never get it back. As to the Fusion software - my mind flipped out after the first 45sec. I can not grasp 3d software - just does my head in.. Thank you
Awesome! Definitely reach out if you need any help at all!
it is another level
Thanks!
Is there an .stl version of this? I cannot open the f3d version. Thanks!
Hey Robert, I didn’t produce a .STL file for this, but on my Patreon, I have a similar model that has the .STL and can be imported to other softwares. It includes both sides of the profile for double sided machining. Here is the link: www.patreon.com/EricksonDesignandWoodworking/shop/3d-wooden-holder-with-base-321231?Link&
Absolutely great tutorial. Love the format of step-by-step, to machine, and to finished product and everything in between. Unfortunately I don’t use Fusion but can do this with VCarve Pro using dish method. Hope you do many more videos this way. I don’t mind the length of video when you get the whole project from start to finish. No one else goes the whole nine yards. Keep up the great work and looking forward to next concept.
Thanks!!! Eventually I’ll get you to convert to Fusion360 🤓
@@EricksonWoodworking , I would love to but invested in VCarve and it suited me when I was looking into programs. I’m sure the learning curve is tremendous but powerful for many other uses. Funny thing, my son just signed up for a Robitics class, so I wanted to learn TinkerCAD along with him. I got the hang of it with their tutorials and within 3 hours, I was making STL files and importing them into Vectric. Seems like a stripped down version of Fusion. So maybe I’ll try it if I can figure out where to download the free version. If I do pick it up, you’ll definitely be my inspiration. Thanks for your reply and looking forward to your upcoming videos and projects.
Absolutely! That’s really cool they are teaching robotics in school. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything about Fusion or woodworking! Cheers 🍻
Thanks for yet another great video. Your videos have helped me a lot while learning how to model and program more 3D work! Keep it up!
Great to hear! Thank you for the positive feedback!
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into sharing your methods. I learned some new techniques!
Thanks! I’m really glad these videos help!
Awesome Video!! Super tutorial and step by step walk through…. Definitely looking forward to attempting this myself. Very well done!
Go for it! Post a picture on my Patreon if you make one! Cheers!
I liked the video, i've always struggled with Fusion but I still use it and try to learn it. I like my VCarve pro, but they're not the same. When it comes to 3d, i prefer fusion. Keep it up!
You can replicate this on Pro. Bring up the plane to 1.75” and use dish method from clippart. Then for the text you can VCarve it to follow the 3D tool path.
Thanks! I’m hoping to make more how-to’s with Fusion
Very cool! I started testing some of my .STL models in different softwares, so far so good and they are definitely able to work
Such a great tutorial from a person who has actual expertise...!! Thank You for educating us..! Can you please continue this series with multi sided operations and tricks to locate the job for multiple ops and such advanced stuff in fusion 360...?? I think it is bit more confusing for beginners.!! I have watched some tutorials to use soft jaw methods with special geometries to set WCS. I will wait for more tutorials....Thanks a lot again..!
If possible, Please do tutorial series on actual furniture parts with curvature and mortise and tenons on its sides...etc For example, curved table leg with non-symmetric features on sides. Flipping them and rotating them are a nightmare..!!! Those tutorials would be highly helpful for people like us..!! Thanks again sir..!
I’ll definitely try to see what I can come up with. Making furniture is something I’ve always wanted to do. Fusion is more than capable to do this. I’ll put it on my list of future projects! Cheers! 🍻
