Lover of OG Techno, Acid & House.
I do jams for fun, often fraught with mistakes and rough around the edges.
I have been messing around with making my own music since 1991, originally using an Amiga & sampler interface then moving to hardware in the mid 90's ( Yamaha RM1X, TB-303, MC-303, Korg N264 to name but a few) then moved to software circa 2013 onwards.
Ultimately I ended up missing the tactile hands on experience of hardware so have moved back to DAWless early 2022.
My rig is predominantly Roland. What can I say, I love the stuff....

SH-01A / S1 / TR-8S Techno Jam
SH-01A and S-1 Workout
All individual outs and Main LR routed into CQ18T from TR-8S
SH-01A with 2 internal sequences - reverb and EQ from CQ18T
S-1 stereo out into CQ18T using S-1 internal FX. 2 sequences
Cheeky female sound sample on the 8S
Everything else is stock TR-8S. FM Kick slaps big time.
Usual rush job, didnt have any reference track and the DT990 Pro's give a false sense of balance but on listening back
to it, the synths should have been brought up a couple of dB's.
Oh well.

A very quick one as i'm still getting to grips with my new multitrack mixer. I have retired my Mackie Pro-FX as I have outgrown the channels and needed more. The new mixer is an Allen & Heath CQ18-T which is an 18 channel compact unit with built in FX. I recorded this jam as a stereo mix direct to USB pen drive rather than multitrack recording to SD Card. A quick noodle with some patterns. Havent really played around with the JU-06A yet and to be honest only used it for 1 sound. Instantly recognizable 808 state sounds with it though.... CC'd the TB-3 via the 707 to change tones in patches. Definitely overcooked the compressor on the drums.

I do like a bit of DnB from time to time. Not really a live jam as such as I pre-programmed and roughly arranged it yesterday and thought somebody out there may like it ? 707 Is the brain & master clock. Jungle beats are being triggered from the 404. Square wave bassline is coming from the S-1 and is being program changed from the 707.

Bit of techno... Main synth loop is the Kobol running through Zoom MS70CDR delay and back into 707 1st deep sounding synth part to play is coming from System-1M Everything else is 707 Zencore apart for some of the PCM hat samples being replaced Recorded into Live, normalised & exported. Signal was quite hot this time. Having too much fun to notice the red bars :)

The plan was to play the piano live but I have broken a couple of fingers and sprained the other hand lol. Just me getting a quick fix of JD-800 piano before moving to something much darker / acidic. The Kobol is playing nice today as its been converted from MIDI to CV

Got a Kobol today. 2nd one I have had as the first one was faulty. Great sounding mono for bass Be wary of headphone cables jammed under your guitar pedal footswitch ;-) TD-3 ran through Boss Blues Driver overdrive and Zoom MS70CDR delay/reverb Little bit of Mackie ping pong delay on the Kobol. Little downtempo jam. Simple 4 note sequence on the Virus C, just tweaking the filter EP keys, Bass synth & Analog drums provided by the MC-707 The mono lead that I'm playing is coming from the Dreadbox Typhon Nothing startling, just that I liked it and thought you might too.... Regurgitated last nights TR-8S pattern and changed the snares a little bit. Infected low sub drone coming from the Virus-C Pads and supplemntal 808 beats coming from the MC-707 TB-3 doing it's thang. Using a stable MIDI clock source to eliminate jitter. Timing is rock solid when blending drums from more than 1 device when doing it this way.... All devices receiving clock via a Kenton MIDI THRU

A rarity tonight, a spare hour or so to knock out a quick jam. I wanted to do something with "that" 90's techno stab so sampled it from the source. For those that dont know, its from Sequal - Its not too late (dub) and is around the 4:30 mark. I chopped out the bit I wanted with Audition then done the rest on the 707. It's great however that unit had to go back. The centre pot on the left hand side was really stiff so I got it swapped out for another one. I'll post another video soon 👍

Hi! The TD-3 is running it's own internal sequencer. I have the MC-101 set up with 3 channels: CH1 - Drums CH2 - MIDI out to Blofeld. CH3 - MIDI out to SH-01A So the sequences for the 01A and Blofeld were programmed on the MC-101. The channel thats controlling the SH-01A also has an MC-101 tone track attached so I bring that in on the fader to fatten up the synth sound during the build up. CH2 also has a tone track attached to it which adds a subtle layering to the Blofeld.

Are you sequencing the tr8s with the 707 sequencer or separately?
Main CR-78 pattern is sequenced from the 707. There's another 16 step pattern on the TR-8S with additional BD, SD, OH and CH that I bring in/out with the TR-8S faders. 707 is master clock and TR-8S is a slave. The 16 step pattern on the 8S runs continuously
@@Alpha-DX i have pretty much the same setup except the td3 and experimenting with dawless. I sequence the tr8s as well with the 707 but this is not ideal. I would rather just have a pattern select in the 707 but have the patterns themselves edited in the tr8s itself.
