I live on Vancouver Island and can't sit still. I love being outdoors exploring backcountry trails, camping in quiet places, fishing in rivers and lakes, and travelling to foreign countries. A journalist since 2003, my early years were spent covering court and crime for various newspapers in Western Canada including the Regina Leader-Post and the Edmonton Sun. I now specialize in freelance travel writing and photography, with stories appearing in several newspapers and magazines including Outpost Magazine, the Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun, Our Canada, BC Outdoors and Sidetracked Magazine.
I am new to videography, so bear with me as I learn new skills. My goal is to inspire people to travel to places that are off the beaten path and try new experiences.

Canadian Rockies: Four days hiking Jasper's Skyline Trail
There's something freeing about putting on a backpack that has everything you need to survive and walking into the wilderness. Especially when that wilderness is the Rocky Mountains in Jasper National Park.
I was lucky to reserve three nights along the Skyline Trail - the most popular backcountry hike in Jasper. About 25 km is above the tree line making it one of the most scenic hikes in the Rockies. The trail crosses three mountain passes offering a variety of flora, fauna and scenery unique to Jasper National Park, which is one of my favourite places in the world since I grew up in Alberta.
So how did the hike go? Watch and find out!
