How to make metal cold cut blade cuts and lasts on a abrasive saw (1800rpm blade on 3800rpm saw)
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
I had a project to cut many pieces out of U shape steel bars, 4" wide, 1.5" high, 48" long. I started with a new abrasive blade but it seems that the cut was very slow. It will take me forever to cut all the pieces that I need. I decided to use a cold cut saw blade. This saw blade runs at maximum speed of 1800rpm and my saw was rated at 3800rpm. If I used the blade at the full speed, the blade ...
DIY CNC - upgrading to Aluminum brackets for steel milling
Переглядів 4,8 тис.2 роки тому
In my last video, I started building a new CNC machine with the aim of milling steel using a 3018 CNC. Since the 3018 CNC is very flimsy and can only be used to mill wood and plastic, I build the first version of my CNC using plywood brackets. After the first version was built, now I'm ready to cut Aluminum brackets to make the machine more sturdy and rigid to mill steel. After changing all the...

DIY CNC - Expanding working area - bigger = more fun

I had few recent projects that I couldn't use my CNC machine due to large-size pieces that needed to be cut. I had to use my table saw and tried to trim all the pieces as precisely as I could. I found that table saw is useful but not made for precision and especially not for complicated shapes. To make my life easier, I decided to expand the working area of my machine. I only have a budget of a...

I just got my 3018 yesterday, so i only discovered your channel today. This is one use i had in mind for my 3018: to make a larger cnc for larger projects and keep the 3018 for smaller ones. I have mad respect for the process: showing us your mistakes and workarounds is worth as much to me as showing the parts that went as planned. You got a new sub for that as much as anything else you showed me. 👍 I'll be binge watching your other videos for the next week or so as i set up my new tool. Please keep up the good work. 😊 I did have a suggestion for the one hour mark, where you made trapped nuts, sandwiched between the plywood layers though (i have only gotten this far, so you may well address this later in the video. If so, ignore this): Drill the original base board like you did,but hammer T-nuts into the bottom of that board. It'll save you the height of the second plywood base plate, and the T-nuts won't spin like trapped nuts do if there's any resistance to the threads of the bolt. Other than that, i like your ideas. Especially using plywood to build the OG frame: I'm assuming one of your first projects with the new, larger cnc will be to cut out some aluminum brackets to replace the plywood brackets. I like ply for temporary use, but any moisture in your workshop and the ply loses some of its good properties: okay for a house, as its only tolerance is 1/4" or so,but for a precision cnc machine, i like as close to zero tolerance as i can get. 😊👌

I'm wondering if when you had the sputtering problem, and you were adjusting the gap inside on that board, if you maybe cleaned the points as well, and that made it also work better along with the adjusting of the gap, which might be why you couldn't replicate the problem as easily? I had pilot arc problems on my Bestarc 2nd gen where the pilot arc completely failed. When I was massing with trying to figure out the problem with it, I cleaned my points in the similar location and type of setup, but mine didn't have adjustments like yours unfortunately so I bent them manually, which I shouldn't have done, because it turned out that my pilot arc problem was actually caused by the piolet arc relay being fused inside. I couldn't get the relays for this thing, so I cut the top of the little relay open and had to use a punch and a hammer to unfuse the damn thing, and then had to file it flat again and bend it back into shape, then it worked again. Then I ended up getting this big heavy duty relay off of amazon while waiting for my 15 cheap replacement relays I ordered from China, and this big heavy duty one is awesome, and has a cover that comes off so you can clean it or even swap the parts, but also has 2 sides to it, so I can just switch to the other side of it if it happens again as well... Anyway, I was wondering if maybe you happened to clean those points and forgot about it, which might have been the reason you couldn't easily replicate the problem? And here's the name of the heavy duty 24v relay I ordered for $38 Canadian from Amazon, to replace the cheap difficult to get consumable ones that come in these cheaper plasma cutters if anyone is interested, because it wasn't easy to find an alternative one that would work properly, or even better than the original: TWTADE/JQX-62F-2Z Coil Voltage DC 24V 80A DPDT Electronmagnetic Relay,High Power Relay DC 24V Also, thank you so much for this detailed video and explanations for this HF CNC issue, I really appreciate the help!

    1. Goldfish are carp. They go in ponds because they grow multiple feet. Do research before buying any live creature. Is it a goldfish? Research goldfish. Is it a betta fish? Research bettas. Hell, is it a mud turtle? Research mud turtles. Every creature is different. 2. Wtf bleaches their soil??????????????????? This was new to me. Heads up to those who don't know, don't do this. It's dangerous and defeats the point of the soil. "I pumped out the bleach wat-" NO. STFU. Don't ever freaking do this! This should be astoundingly obvious. This entire part was bewildering and truly upsetting to watch as a fish keeper. You wanna prep soil for the tank? Put it in the oven on low for a while. DO NOT BLEACH IT. 3. "No chemicals" Try again. You got that part wrong. I came here after finding your design on thingiverse and was excited to see but then the goldfish and the bleach had me on the verge of pulling my hair out. The only time you will EVER need bleach in this hobby is if you have plastic plants/decor and even then the bleach NEVER goes in the tank. You pull the plastic decor out, wash it in a separate container with a light amount of bleach to kill algae, rinse thoroughly, then place back in the tank. That's it. All of that aside (but unable to be forgotten), this was decent looking in the end. I'd put a pre filter around that pump so when the mollies breed you don't have babies getting sucked into the impeller but other than that the filter setup is pretty stellar.
