I've ran into a few "iffy" sellers but so far no one that's tried to scam me or tank my reviews like this. Biggest thing I've learned from shopping and selling on eBay in the 1-ish year I've been doing so, if you ever get a device that arrives in a different state than it was purchased in, immediately return it. especially technology in the "for parts" category with apple devices or devices with similar things such as Apple iCloud and Activation lock. Over time I've started to notice similarities in cases like this where a eBay scammer will ship a device with a defect and advertise it as iCloud unlocked but "For Parts" with pictures that don't match up to what you actually receive. usually this includes making the device appear in either a working but slightly damaged state, or a non working but good physical condition. They will ship it with a problem that prevents the device from powering on without mentioning anything about it in the listing. My theory is that they know that since you are buying a 'For Parts" device that you are either going to be salvaging the working parts from it, meaning that in most cases the logic board will not be reused. or that you will be taking it apart to try and fix it. once you get into the device and start replacing things, they can easily turn around and claim that the device did not have the issues prior to shipping it out which sometimes eBay will side with and decline you a refund. while typing this i suddenly remembered that i actually did have an experience similar to this with a 2014 iMac 27" 5k where the computer had a failed internal HDD that was not mentioned anywhere in the listing since these machines shipped with a "fusion drive" which basically pairs a slow high storage (mine was either a 2 or a 3 terabyte drive but i don't remember) to a much faster but very small storage SSD like the ones on the MacBook pro retinas from that time period (the SSD in mine was the standard 128gb apple SSD). i wiped the os that came pre installed and all the sudden i could no longer reinstall an OS with my macOS installer usb drive. quickly found that selecting the show all drives in disk utility showed the failed drive. a few minutes later i eventually noticed that every time the os was installing, somewhere around 20-30 minutes in, the hard drive would try to spin up and the machine would almost immediately shut down. cut the display off with my iMac screen remover kit from iFixit and sure enough there it was. took it out and the machine worked flawlessly. eBay seller tried to accuse me of an attempted refund scam and claimed that there was no 3tb HDD. reported the account and left a bad review. bought the adhesive strips from iFixit and stuck a 2tb Samsung 2.5 inch SSD where the HDD originally was and sealed back up the machine. still using it today for basic test bench functions :3 EDIT!!! ALSO IF YOU RUN INTO A SITUATION LIKE THE ONE I HAD WITH MY IMAC, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE TONS OF PICTURES. i never took a picture of the failled HDD that was in the device and i had thrown it away when they asked me to send one in for proof. TAKE PICTURES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AS IT WILL SAVE YOUR ASS. VIDEOS ARE EVEN BETTER

Great video! This is the Macbook that I bought 10 months ago but with a bit better specs: i7 and 16 Gb and 512 Gb. I paid 256€ (280$) without charger so I think it was really cheap. It’s the newest Macbook I’ve ever owned and I love it although one shift key isn’t working and it heats up too much when I edit photos.

Rule of thumb on ebay if the item is not as described don't even bother try mess with repairs unless you're willing to keep it for sure. Always immediately notify seller about return and problem with the problem and a picture.

As a former seasoned eBay seller and buyer. ALWAYS video record the condition of the product you sell or purchase as you send and receive them. RECORD EVERYTHING as you ship or open the sellers packages. Also, record serial numbers and all identifying marks. Trust me, it will save your bacon.

Bro I feel for you because I used to buy, and sell Apple computers for over a decade, and made a lot of money over the years since my background is in IT but what I want to know is, who the hell ships a laptop in the mail with virtually no protective padding with a dirty display? Sorry but some folks seem to lack proper home training. The seller is obviously a scammer.

I had the same issue with the same year and macbook model, Unfortenately I did a reset and now the computer is unusable. It was a complete waste of money I think we have to avoid macbooks from this exactly year and PR sellers in my experience.

Add in look at the sellers page do research or the seller before buying I’ve never been scammed on eBay because I don’t do auctions and I don’t do sellers under a minimum of 100+ sales yea you might pay a bit more but I’d rather have that extra security plus reviews for me if it’s anything under a 4.96 I’m good on the seller I’ll find someone with a higher rating

Always is good to have the evidences and call Ebay Support, they can be in your side and return back your money, so next time do that.

always check their feedback, and never buy from someone with 50 or less reviews, or below 99% positive feedback rate. This was clearly a stolen item or from someone who never physically used the computer. The fact it wasn't a reset device with a login speaks volumes. Tech products are the shadiest things to buy on eBay. Ive used eBay for over 20 years and recently got scammed with fake AirPods 3, at $140. They had 100% feedback and 75 reviews for the same item, presumably from people who didn't know they were fake, as they were extremely good counterfeits. It was only after calling them out they refunded me within 10 minutes (to avoid me leaving a negative) and never even asked for the product back. You have to be so careful.

Just bought mine today 256gb. With some minir cosmetic dents Did lots if research before opting for it. I know people get some problems with it but some to have used it for 6 years plus and they said they’ve still not encountered any issues. I Hope mine lasts long

Hello Dude, I used to buy and sell online, for safety reasons, every item sold I made videos packaging it, we never know what kind of buyer we will have on the other side, by the way, it was a nice video. Also, lately I do not recommend buying from seller with less than 100% positive feedback, that's right, I do not buy if a seller has 99,99%, it might be issue for other buyers, but for me, doing this, I can't go wrong!

General rule of thumb for eBay listings: Electronic devices sold without the accessories are either not being sold by the original owner, or have hidden faults.

currently watching this on my new macbook pro 2017 same model as video i traded just this weekend on marketplace a ipad 9th gen and macbook air 2017 for it i really enjoy it huge upgrade and was in amazing condition even tho it just stopped updating it runs amazing for all my casual needs i dont edit so i didnt need newest mac i will be getting one of the newest macs when i go to college in 2 years so this 2017 pro is perfect for now
