Amazing finds.
Helpful, thanks!
Thank you glad it helped
No wonder the island is falling to bits it's being destroyed by this guy
Hahaha my friends say there is no such thing as costal erosion and that it’s me 🙈🤣🤣🤣
What kind of stylus did you use please? Do the styli have to be special? Do you have to sharpen the styli once a while? Thanks!
Thank you 😊 They are tungsten stylus from Zoic
@@WightFossilTours Thanks for the info. Do you have to sharpen the styli once a while?
Hi it would be better to reweted again after you have taking the soft stuff again I thing it will come off easy ear ? But still good and nice job.👍
Thank you 😊 Sorry I’m dyslexic and im not sure what you are saying?
Better not to get wet if possible as it’s pyrite
Is this capable of removing hard rock matrix?
Yes it’s a great tool that will do the job
Nice!!
Cheers buddy
Cool. What are the steps for cleaning and final buff shine? Looked like a big mail then air.
Cool., this is also how to find scorpions at night.
Wow that’s amazing! I’ve found similar preservation styles in keynsham but nothing as complete or that species.
Thank you 😊 I never expected to find something quite as cool as this. I check every time I’m in the area now, but still not found anything that topped that day
Amazing!😊
Thank you 😊
Nice one! What beach is this?
Thank you, this was on the north Yorkshire coast
Awesome!
Thank you 😊 it was a very sticky long winded prep
Can you use needles in the blue one? I just ordered that model (with the tips from PaleoTech) but love the idea/technique with the needle. How much is a grout remover if you would recommend one?
Grout remover is about £15 on eBay, but if you have ordered the Dremel 290 then that is just the same. Needles or pins work really well for this type of pyrite bloom, good luck with your prep
@@WightFossilTours thanks so much for responding! Hoping you are able to answer 1 more question I had.. what is best to apply to a fossil once you are happy with what has been “exposed”? Is it something I can get at the hardware store or a specialty item that I need to order online? Thanks so much, it’s been fascinating so far
how much did it cost??
I can’t remember exactly but was a lot, over £2k including the blast cabinet 🙈
wow@@WightFossilTours
cool man!
Didn’t realize you were back. Great shrimps.
Cheers buddy, trying to get back to it 💪
Fleet lagoon fossils?
Yes around that area
That seems too perfectly placed, I think you’re being a devious UA-camr
Not at all, I do not place any of my finds. As you can see it is jammed into between the rocks. I was lucky enough to find two prefect ammonites like this jammed in the rocks that day, it was my lucky day because I have been back several times now and found nothing like that
I went to kilve and saw some small AMMONITes in between rocks
No things form like that all the time. If it’s preserved in soft rock like limestone and has a lot of acid weathering like if it’s near a city then the whole thing will just be out and about. I made a couple videos in keynsham showing the same process.
Where do you find all of these fossils ? I'm so jealous
These were found over a few years on the Isle of Wight
@@WightFossilTours Thanks ! Love your videos btw
@@armytbchaine6515 thank you so much, glad you liked it 🥰
I see Rocken end is permanently closed. Blackgang be any good?
LOL WHAT IS THIS AUDIO 😂
Lol it was from a reel on instagram 🤣🤣
It’s my thought on finding such an amazing specimen!
yeah, you are back... please bring more content. greezzz from switzerland
Yesss buddy glad you are happy. Will get back to normal service soon 💪 Hope you are well?
@@WightFossilTours yup, this weekend starts my season. We have a two day fossil excavation, we will be on a field in the macrocephalus layer...⛏⛏👍
@@fossil-freak_tom good luck, it sounds fun, I have been doing a bit of inland fossil hunting over the last 12 months
Hi, great job! Ive recently started to renovate an old bmx bike and read on a forum Cillit Bang 1 Citric Acid was best for removing rust. I dropped an old pyrite amonite in yesterday to see how it would work and the result is amazing, 12hrs so far and all of the debris around it has nearly gone. After a polish i think it will look amazing!
So when you polish them with that copper(?) brush, what makes them turn golden? Does the copper rub off onto the ammonite or *are* they inherently this colour? Nice video!
How do you find the spots to dig in?
what happened to this channel ????? last video was year ago .has it died or creator is no longer active ???? i ask because i enjoy the video,s ,so annoying when you find a good channel ,and it seems dead :(
Can you do one of the Trex?
What is the opening music from? It’s rather fun and lovely.
Where is that beach !!! I need to go
hi just going though my sub's, to see who's still making video, I can see you are ha ha, hope all's good and keep the channel going , have a good week,
Part of a larger battery which was 10v, I have one complete and it consists of five of these 2V cells in series. Some of the smaller ones like the exide dtg series were used in valve radios to hear the valve heaters. A large dry battery was used for the high tension amp stage. Exide also made these 10V cells.
Du Glückspilz, jetzt brauchst Du einen Hubschrauber, wie bekommst Du ihn nach Hause, bin gespannt auf die Präperation 🎉😂
WOW THAT IS HUGE FANTASTIC FIND❤❤❤❤😅😅
Hello my dear friend. Unfortunately, the microraptor cannot be bought in my country. I would be grateful for the opportunity to watch the video of it in disassembled form, so that I can make it myself. Or, if possible, a drawing with dimensions.
@7:38 lmao "not quite a trip to the dentist" (instead of 230, tooth hurty)

I prefer the natural side with the beeswax. There's a depth of colour that can't be seen as well on the other side. Loving watching and learning how to prepare the fossils. You've done some amazing work and have some lovely specimens.
hey! on the off chance you see this im thinking of prepping some fossils soon and wondered, for beewax, hows that all work? like do you have to heat it up or just rub it on the fossil or what lol
Did you get the fossil from Yorkshirefossils or just from Yorkshire
Oh god no, I like to go hunting and I traveled hundreds of miles to go find them up Yorkshire 🫶 Have a look through my playlists and you will find our Yorkshire fossil hunting adventures. I have a few spare if you want to buy any 😜

You're saying needles, but are those actually sewing pins in the round white container?
Thank you for watching 🫶 I use either sewing pins or needles. You just need to snap them down to size, they snap very easily 🌀
@@WightFossilTours Crazy!
That's just beautiful! Never thought that would have come out of that mess of a rock. I bet her eyes got big when you showed her that.
Thank you it is a stunning piece 🌀 I still have one the same that I found years before and I still need to prep it 🙄 Thankfully I redeemed myself and she was very happy 😊
Can’t thank you enough for posting this. This made it into my suggestions on UA-cam and that’s how I learned about the Dremel 290. Somehow it was never mentioned in the 3 years I’ve been fossil hunting. Considering how expensive a good airscribe setup is, I can’t justify the purchase. Any recommendations for hard matrix? I have and will be collecting more black shale concretions. They’re a mix of pyrite, phosphate, and siderite. They’re extremely challenging just to split. Rotary diamond bits, while good for bulk matrix removal, leave scratches that make the last layer before the fossil impossible to judge.
Thank you for watching and your kind comment 🥰 The engraver is an amazing tool that can do just a good a job as air scribes. I used mine for years with the standard tips before the 290 craze hit off and Zoic PalaeoTech bought out some Tungsten tips. The tips are well worth buying, they turn the engraver into a completely different tool. The other thing you can do to reduce matrix is to score lines into the matrix with a Diamond Cutting Disc on your rotary tool. Then chip away the lines with your 290, or hammer and chisel/screwdriver. Check out this video where I use the rotary tool to help remove matrix. Anymore questions please ask 😀
Great video, are you all still local to sandown?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed 😊 Yes Sandown is my home town. Are you a local?
@@WightFossilTours I am. We moved to sandown in August. My son (6yrs old) is very keen to find his first fossil. Found your video and enjoyed it alot and learned alot too. My son and I will be heading out hopefully this weekend to have an explore and see what we find.
@@jamesmcallister3878 good tides this weekend so you should do well. We are away unfortunately… I’m a Scout leader in Sandown, if your son would like to join our Beaver Colony, come and see us Monday evening at 5pm Grafton lane, we finish at 630pm
@@WightFossilTours thank you so much, that's great. We will be there on Monday evening. Looking forward to meeting you and also applying what I saw in your video this weekend with my son.
@@jamesmcallister3878 that’s great 😀 we also take the beavers and cubs out fossil hunting occasionally. Good luck and keep an eye on the tide line for treasures. Yaverland has lots to find and offer so I’m sure you will do well 🤞
.Incredible the knowledge you have to identify the rock that an Ammonite will have protected. The size of this is unbelievable. Blessings on your way my friend.
Hope you guys are doing ok. Missing your uploads😊
Hi Ray sorry for late reply. We are well thank you, I wasn’t doing to good at the beginning of the year but I’ll be uploading again soon 🌀🦕🦖⚒️ Hope you are well?
