      Thank you so much!!! I believe it is, I don't see anything that shows it to be off limits! I know outside of Bodega head is closed off, due to it being a marine sanctuary, but that area by Tomales is not part of that! However that area can get some big breakers, so you will need to be very cautious of that area!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

    We will be trying this method this year. We have always cleaned and steamed our crabs and tried to freeze the left over 1/2 sections. They are only good for a couple of months. And so disappointing to have some that isn't that good. How long did you let it defrost for?

    • @baldeaglefishingadventures
      @baldeaglefishingadventures 27 днів тому

      Good morning, and thank you for checking out, and watching my channel! I completely agree, it is disappointing after all that work, and in just a few months it's not very good, this method is a game changer for sure!! So I would defrost it for 72 hours in the refrigerator, and you should be good to go!!!!!!!

    Love your videos. I have a question about the vacuum seal bags you use. Every time I try to vacuum seal a crab shell punctures the bag. What is your secret? Thank you. Hope to see you on the water.

    • @baldeaglefishingadventures
      @baldeaglefishingadventures Місяць тому

      Hey Scott, thank you so much Brother!! So I use the Kirkland, Costco brand, because their bags are a little thicker than most I've encountered. If you are using Kirkland, then you might want to look into just using the pulse button on your food saver to vacuum the bag manually, and not allowing it to completely vacuum down! I have had a few of my bags puncture too, and yet the crabs were still excellent!!! So all the protection may come from the crab being completely intact, and not so much the vacuum sealing of the bag! Jury is still out on that!!!!!!!!!

      Hey Brother, your boat is very capable of going out on those conditions! However, with that said, and with all due respect, you going out, and being ok depends also on your skill set, and your knowledge of the area of ocean you will be fishing, but yes the conditions on Thursday appear to be in your favor, much luck to you, and be safe!

    My sealer completely crushed the crab cap. Did I miss a step?

    • @baldeaglefishingadventures
      @baldeaglefishingadventures Місяць тому

      Wow, so the only thing I can think of is your sealer may have a lot more vacuum pressure, in which case you may need to manual vacuum, there should be a button on your sealer, that allows you to pulse vacuum so it won't crush the cap. I have had some of the bags get punctured, and so it gets some air inside the bag, and the crabs were still Awesome, so I don't think it's very necessary to get all the air out! Thank you for your question, and I hope this helps!

    Update: Just went Saturday at 300 ft. We got sand dabs 1st then rock cod then lings. Did great (won the pot!) I wanted to share my new favorite thing. While gathering sand dabs I often hook petrale sole which are so very tender & theres no limit on them. Ive switched to a particular sabiki rig that ups my count of petrale when getting dabs on the sand & gravel flats. Its the Ocean Cat glow shrimp sabiki in size 1/0. Dont think that the 1/0 is too big for sand dabs it isnt. I order direct from ocean cat. - 10 rigs for $11.20 & free shipping. Cant beat that. These things slay dabs & petrale sole. I do a sm strip of squid plus a little garlic bloody tuna gel on each shrimp & I get clobbered immediately after hitting bottom. I leave it there once hit till I feel a heavier tug (usually means a sole joined in) then I reel up gently & at moderate speed. It takes a little longer but Ive lost the petrale cranking them up too fast. Anyway have fun out there, try this.

      Thank you for the great question! So I was doing 30 mph all the way there from Bodega, and I was there in about 45 to 50 mins roughly!
