Nobody’s thinking of doing away with them because we’re not a functioning democracy. If we maintained the representation ratio of the first Congress (1789), we’d have 6000 Representatives. Anyway it’s all a bit superfluous because of the “money primary.”
Became a fan in the 80's,living in DC area, soon found her book!
Fascinating
Will they ever be used?
Masterclass
Game theory? UA-cam is pushing these old, old videos out as a way to solicit ideas from their viewers on how to beat Russia, eh. Putin doesn't play games. The russians don't play games. "Nyet means nyet." The collective west crossed all the red lines and now NATO, US, UK, France and Germany have continued to escalate. Here's a theory for you: NATO back off to 1991 borders. 🎉🎉🎉
Where is Part 1?
Throughout history, there have been instances where some factions within the Christian church, predominantly white denominations, have been criticized for actions or teachings that were perceived as hindering the progress of the Black empowerment movement. Some of these actions and factors include: 1. **Support for Slavery**: Historically, some Christian denominations in the United States, particularly in the South, used religious arguments to justify and support the institution of slavery. They quoted passages from the Bible to endorse the idea of slavery, which was used to subdue and control Black individuals. 2. **Segregation**: In the era of Jim Crow laws, some white churches promoted segregation, maintaining separate services and facilities for Black and white congregants. This reinforced racial divisions and inequality. 3. **Lack of Support for Civil Rights**: During the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, some Christian churches were slow to support the movement's goals of racial equality and desegregation. Some church leaders opposed civil rights activists, and their congregations were divided on the issue. 4. **Conservative Theology**: Some conservative branches of Christianity have been criticized for promoting a theology that emphasizes individual salvation over social justice, which some argue can hinder efforts to address systemic racism and promote Black empowerment.
Got here from Thomas Sowell.
🤔 I wonder if she will do a more modern study of this bc women in 2023 are a bit more direct in communication. Like i would just said babe im thirsty i need a drink.
Fair point! I wonder how the study would play out.
Fascinating guy. Kennedy, who was quite intelligent himself, called Sorensen his "Intellectual Blood Bank"

Wow wow wow. Your two interviews with Miss Manners have expanded my perspective so much. Thank you!
Gosh, I’ve loved Miss Manners for years. I think I have 2 of her books. I’m probably due for a re-read.
This is great on the Panda's. Lol.
What a beautiful man
"They worked on this problem which we still haven't solved." A truer statement was never said.
I read 'Ms. Manners'" book, I'm sure she has others, when I was pretty young. I'm almost 30 now and I think I'll reread it. I remember being around 14 and just was so intrigued by these rules of etiquette. I was a total slob and I must say, some of her rules I started to actually follow and they have stuck with me into adulthood. I also learned what a fish knife is when at the table ha! I had thought the only fish knife was the one we used on the riverbank to clean a fish! Anywho it's nice to finally see her face and hear her voice. I'm excited to read her book again and see what habits I can form this time. Thanks for sharing this video.
Everyone needs to watch this.
Stem cell research isn't just morally hideous, it doesn't even work.
9/11 was " amazing "? What is she talking about ? People were jumping to their deaths from the Twin Towers so they wouldn't have to burn to death. This country was permanently traumatized after 9/11 to the point they gave away their basic human rights to not be surveilled like animals by the CIA and the NSA to avoid another " terrorist " attack , and she thinks that's " amazing " ? She uses the word " amazing " constantly to refer to 9/11. ?
It's so hard to watch her talk about 9/11. She looks down a lot. It's hard not to wonder how much she knows .
When I am reading Miss Manners articles, I can't help but insert an English accent, like that of Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton (Netflix series).
Aaaaah shit farming on my roommate door 🚪 again
Вот Херня!!!
What a wonderful find on this smartphone- you, to begin a new year with. Thank you for knowing how to entice us with your wit, to become better than than we really are. I’m going to try. (Your books are on my shelf. Now to find time to read them.) Bless you. Be well, Ms Manners. Doug Besharov was a fine host.
Thank you for all you give to us--for years. You’re beautiful. What a cool way to begin 2022 (Finding you accidentally here.)
I was at a symposium where he spoke with his son. He is an amazing doctor.
Loved watching his show I learned a lot from dr brazelton
💯

Cute dog in your profile pic.
Thank you
Sound is sooo bad
this shit is so retarded, i hate my english teacher for this
I just wanted to say that the way Miss Manners writes her book is very much like Plato's writings, wherein he wrote questions posed to Socrates and Socrates answers them.
A national treasure, and when you consider what the nation is, she's spending herself on a population of hopeless clods. But I'm grateful she's around, setting down lasting standards for the bemusement of people who have never heard of standards. She's also one of the funniest writers I've ever read.
Fauci... Every virus will kill a third of the worlds population... Everything is a fucking pandemic Self serving self promoting conspiracy theorist, that's all Fauci is.
This is a helpful video that I recommend to my couples counseling clients. Thank you for your work, Ms Tannen, and for sharing it!
This is a discussion of Abigail Thernstrom’s 2003 book (co-authored with her husband Stephen Thernstrom) “No Excuses: Closing the Racial Gap in Learning”. Just FYI (since this isn’t mentioned in the header).
Mark Sanchez tried so did Antonio Villarigoesa to do everything right Yet they Failed that's That!!!
The high water for black politics was the black congress people and not the black president Barack Obama????
This interview took place before the election of Barack Obama
Good talk
How do you show formality in a republic without seeming pretentious” great I thought J was the only one.
Really Good Ms. Tannen, I noticed that pause thing and the misinterpretations those meta msgs cause problems with so many people; I introduced a rule: (which only partially is honored) to wait 1 or 2 full seconds before talking when a person thinks the other one is done talking (to be exact count 1 one thousand, two one thousand, etc),,,when its used it really does work ! The other reason is that there can be a delay in the phone line which causes overtalking (when on phone).
I adore this woman. She's a tonic for a stressed and weary world. I could listen to her speak for hours and not get bored. My very best compliments to you Ms. Martin (Manners)........
