Been at the Puck Fair, about 37 years ago with my family 😅 But no lodging available, indeed... Stayed in a lodging before Killarney. Great fun!
When I was a kid my grand father, father an their friends worked as carpenters and joiners building these film sets and they never forgot the help, friendship and memories of the locals. My sons still work in the film/TV industry to this day, a great family tradition.
A dirty hole of a place Killorglan.
Can't you hear us yelling - "get off" ?!
Such a shame that they did not keep the set. It would have been an added attraction for the Blasket Museum in Dunquin. The schoolhouse is falling into pieces. I have been in Dunquin, and on the Blasket Island, left a piece of my heart there...

Just imagine.... They, the locals, bulldozed the focking village that David Lean gave to them
Oh what a beautiful account of Valentia Island . I live in New Zealand but visited Valentia Island in 1968. I remember the ferry crossing of course and the wonderful Youth Hostel full of fun and laughter. The village concert was wonderful and this account of the Island has brought back such special memories.
I was in Valentia a couple of years ago ,I thought the islanders were a bit up their own holes to be honest
I remember going to the village with Dingle man Owen Keane and my late wife Bernadette. It was a shame that it's now gone. True though, it did marvels for the Dingle area.
I’d go back in the morning.
That was long before vigara
Nice little snippet of one of my all time favourites.....
Great film - only watched it recently and it's a classic.
I believe mossie Moore was murdered by someone else not the man accused it was an ideal opportunity for someone to use the friction between the neighbours to his or her advantage
1:14 The bird in the middle. I used to court her granny. We first met at the back of the pipes between Fatima Mansions and Cork Street.
Absolutely no evidence or proof to say he committed the murder absolutely none
Anybody could have killed Morris Moore absolutely anyone
Absolutely no evidence or proof to prove that man was guilty total and outright speculation
I believe somebody else was the killer and set up the man who was accused there was absolutely no evidence or proof whatsoever total speculation
Not a bit of Botox between them 🤣🤣🤣, Real women👍
My parents Charlie and Jo met at the gresham rooms dance hall Cork in 1951
Agr dosto frod se bachna h to sidha company me Sultan sir se sampark kre 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Absolutely no sufficient evidence what so ever anybody could have committed the murder no evedience what so ever absolutely none just guess work
1 area everyone over looked maybe Morris Moore commited suicide and gave impression of murder to set up man accused
Be an awful injustice if wrong man was blamed no evedience wat so ever to say he did

I was there a lot of times. I love the Island, the people there, the silence. I like it to be alone there for walks all day long. Hope come back soon. Miss you so much, Valentia! D. from Germany

Ah the good days of Spot the Ball🏐 Everyone manoeuvred the photo in the paper to try and pinpoint the Balls 🏐position Magnets n pins pencils prayers everything was used to try and spot the Ball 🏐 Even though you never won the money prize it was great fun
If the people in those times had todays money 💶 they would have been in heaven' todays people have the money 💰 Yet they lost the kindness that this generation had' I know which is better '
An excellent resource for the people of Tralee.
My father and mother used to go to The Vegas dancehall Templemore
Amazing photographic work
11years later. I'm on valentia now. Still as beautiful as ever. Truly a special island.
Dances going on after midnight required permission of the local priest??? What civil law gave the priesthood such authority? If permission was not sought or granted, and a dance went past midnight, what did the priest do, excommunicate the dancers?
What a great era this would've been to live in.
I bought the VHS tape of this production and have it to this day. One of the best films I've ever seen. I love the plays by J.M. Synge. I'd like it if "Riders to the Sea" were made into a movie.
Falvey ey
Great story, great shot!! Thank you very much!
down with that sort of thing ..
Top man
I think we had something similar here in Kilkee clare, to the field, nothing to do with murder I must add. Where the local farmer drove the starving animals over the,80 ft cliff to their death ☠. 🐴. Liam kilkee clare ireland
great clothes and hair styles on the ladies and suits and ties on the gents wish i was there better times
Great memories.
I live in Kerry where it was made .the film did wonders for tourism in the area
More revisionist guff- let's talk for eight minutes about the bridge but somehow manage not to mention its name. The bridge is not called "the Valentia Bridge" but the Maurice O'Neill bridge or Droichead Uí Néill sa Ghaeilge. Maurice O'Neill was a local republican from Cahirsiveen on the other side of the bridge who was executed by de Valera's government in the 40s. The local people were and remain very proud of Maurice and so called thier bridge after him. I know this because my grandfather and granduncle were 2 of the locals in Valentia who pushed for this. My mother is from Cahirsiveen and knew the family. It's amazing the censorship that goes on when there are agendas at play
He couldn't even kill his da properly what's wrong with him 😀
😂😂😂😂 that guy really is something!
