John Deere 625I Gator plugged exhaust
I have smoke coming from around the o2 sensor seems like terrible smell but it's not coming out the tail pipe and my screen has been removed
This was an awesome video, quick into the point and totally accurate. I was trying to work out what was wrong for ages and all I had to do was find this wire that was shorting out and cover it with some electrical tape as I quite like it not cutting out when in reverse. Saved me a lot of money at the repair shop thanks for taking the time
I have the same deck, have not broken any belts but while working on the deck I thought the same thing about the spring tension, I Idid see the other hole and thought about using it, my deck is extremely noisy when spinning maybe changing the spring location will help, anyhow thanks for posting this video.
My 6x4 gas gator with tha kawasaki motor just started missing and when you hold the idle high You can here it breaking up a bit and small backfired when you ride it around. I've got good plugs. Clean fuel filter and great flow from the fuel pump and I took off and cleaned out the carb which was already pretty clean. Is there anything else that would make it sound like it is breaking up a bit ?

My sister bought an ltx-1050 new mowed with it for years and got tired of buying new belts. So she gave me the mower a month or so back it had no belt so i had to fork over 80.00 at tsc. The dealer she bought it from wanted 100.00 he has the balls to tell me only the belt he sells will work. I never cared much for him, anyway i ordered a belt off ebay got it today did the bolt move. I hooked everything up last thing was the spring I put it over the bolt without any tools mowed my yard that is more than an acre no issues yet. My kawasaki 23 horse will engage the pto clutch at idle no problem. My zero turn you try that and the deck wants to jump out from under the mower anyway good info in the video even if the video is a few years old its always there.
Anybody know the correct belt size?
I have the same mower with the same issue. What length and width did you put replace with? Please and thank you!!
Part#954-04240. 160.9 x 1/2”.
On my TS gator spark arrestor was so plugged up ,upon start ups engine wouldn't run fast enough to even disengage the internal compression release. I never knew this gator even had a arrestor. I fixed mine with a screwdriver and a needle nose pliers.
👍
Thanks. This has been an intermittent problem. Also affects my putting my 04 into 4 WD and charging system stopped working. Made it home on a jump pack
Your welcome!
What is the belt size?
Part#954-04240. 160.9x1/2”.
On mine the pulley(bearing) is recessed without the spacer( nut) it will scrub the bracket.
Ours kept breaking and also ruined a pulley, and we saw on UA-cam where a man had moved the belt the way you did. Since we moved our belt too, we have not broke a pulley since, and only one belt. It’s been over ten years. Thanks for putting this out to here for everyone to be able to get their lawn mowed without spending a fortune on belts.
Hi Todd great video. I have a 2010 gator hpx with a fd620d kawasaki. Full throttle mine bogs I've cleaned my spark arrestor no fibers just carbon build up. Changed spark plugs and tested spark. Disconnected fuel line down stream of fuel pump and good flow. When it's running the fuel filter has barely any fuel in the bowl? And I'm getting a milky foam inside the fuel cap? I checked the crankcase vent tube and it's clear plus the intake can all good? Any thoughts my friend I'd appreciate it. Thanks Ryan
Oil cap not fuel cap sorry.
I wish you were nearby... hate the thought of having to take mine to the dealership.
Been having the exact problem. Even if it does not fix my problem, thanks for info.
👍
Oh boy... That's the glass packing from the muffler...
Yep!
Yep I had same with my gator 🐊 not not the carburetor not the fuel lines not the fuel filter not the air filter is that damn screen in the muffler plugged up runs good now
After going through 3 belts this summer I took a video of my mower deck with pto on and the guard off. Standing at a safe distance. I showed the video to the owner at the mower shop and he noticed that the belt going from the left side to the right side was flopping so bat the it was hitting itself on the tension pully . He said go to a 2 inch shorter belt. All I could find was a 3 inch shorter belt but was able to get it on and now there is about 3” distance between where the belts used to hit the tension pully and no more flopping and belt look fine after 2 hours. I had to get a 2 inch longer spring and not as strong as the original but seems to work well!
Could this be the reason the tow haul light won't shut off in my F250
Ditto - THANK YOU! That was it for me. You just saved me a ton of time and money.
👍🏻
I put a new belt on deck took out the spacer. Now the belt smokes shortly after engaging the PTO. Any suggestions...
I wonder if this is why my overdrive is shutting off I'm going to look into this today my overdrive works sometimes sometimes it doesn't lol
Helli thanks for the videos, im french and sorry for my bad english. How many milimeters for the pouley we need? Thanks
Great video man! If anyone reads this the main thing u need to avoid from my experience is try not to leave your gator idling very long at all. 5 min here and 10 min there and it will clog up in no time. Run it like u always do just don't leave it idling and u shouldn't have this problem. Also put it in low when going up steep hills.. basically put it in low if u think it will bog down. JD makes a killing off of this little cleaning job and i they will even replace the exhausts system instead of cleaning it. I have 3 625i and a diesel 650 "I could be wrong about the number" I've never had this problem with the diesel and of course they smoke more but it doesn't have that damn exhaust system like the new models. Basically the same as a California filter on a weedeater that gets clogged up.
Ok, I need help. Same exact mower. With my belt on, it rubs the underside of that silver bracket the spring is on. But if I put the belt on top it rubs the topside. It's like it needs to be exactly where that bracket is...!
Thanks man! Now I know what to look at. Great video 👍🏻
👍
I couldn't figure out the deck pto problem. Watched your video, looked under the battery box and found the exact broken wire connection in your video. Thanks for this super helpful video.
Thanks for tip, it fixed my problem too,
I lookede at mine and the wire was causing it to turn off. i repaired it and it works fine now. Thank you very much
Thanks for the video. You saved my butt. I would have never found that broken wire in a million years.
Ha. I was trouble shooting my cadet not going in forwards or reverse and saw the same wire was broken. I’ve also been dealing with the same issues of the deck turning off. I’ve been mowing with the key in reverse and making sure the mow in reverse light was on as a quick hack. My wire is cut a little short so im gonna have to splice it before replacing the connector.
Great video, thanks for this. Do you still have this mower and was this ultimately the solution? I've had this mower for a few years now and can't stand the endless belt breaking problem I have every year with it.
Still have the mower and use it every week. It did solve the problem. Changed the belt this spring, but only as a part of regular maintenance. Thanks!
@@toddscarbandrepair8304 Why did I not find this videos years ago??? Anyway thankful to have found it now. You're the man, thank you so much for this.
Sorry for the stupid question here but is that "spacer" a little nut looking thing? Not the one on the very bottom but the other one?
Your welcome
Yep
Can you do repair from underneath.
How long is the belt
What size is the belt
Wow both cables are broke on mine
What can cause the engine of a John Deere gaiter to stall out After you replace the Fuel pump?
I would like to know too mine is doing the same thing!
Fuel filter or clogged lines would be my guess. Also you might have adjust the carb idle screw to fine tune the fuel intake. New pump could be pumping gas at a rate higher than old pump. Make sense?
Great video. Any videos on cleaning the spark arrestor?
It has 1 screw on the passenger side.. just take that off and clean inside of the spark arrester out with a screw driver then blow it out with an air compressor or even canned air and u will notice a huge difference. Once u get the debris cleaned out clean the wire mesh with brake cleaner to get the soot off. While it is off either take it for a ride or leave in neutral and hold it wide open to blow out any junk that was back up inside the exhaust. Personally I wouldn't put the spark arrester back on unless u are in a drought but keep it and put it back on if u take it to the dealership for any reason just to be safe because the way they are they could say that voids your warranty. It runs so much better without that and after owning 5 gators and 6-8 ATVs and dirt bikes I have never had any sparks to come out that started a fire here in KY. Your just as likely to start a fire driving a farm truck
Oh and u didn't ask but I just wanted to throw this out there. The worst thing u can do to clog one up is leave it idling. Holding it wide open in neutral everytime before and after riding it will keep that soot from building up but as long as the spark arrestor is on it will clog up eventually. And when u take it off for the first time the screw will probably break.. they get rusty and they are just cheap small screws. U will probably have to get a hammer and punch or flat screw driver to knock the arrestor off for the first time. U could sand the rust off with Emory cloth so it will be easier next time u take it off. Good luck boss
Todd you got no comments bud, How the h*** does anybody know if this worked or not. I'm at this point right now whether or not to take that wire off the boot or not, My toe hall light interverted the comes on in just blinks, Causing a plethora of proalbums, Like for instance stuck in gear, And shifting when don't want it to. Why i'm at this point that I am right now is because I was told that the overdrive Connection underneathe ninth where the wire is coming off the shifter is Frade, But now that I got to this point I don't see any Frayin, If you have any Helpful suggestions it would be much appreciated. Nice video and have a nice day.
07 Cub Cadet LT1050 , PTO quits while mowing, will NOT come back on. Engine runs fine before and after. New PTO switch replaced, but still does it...any recommendations where to start the troubleshooting process ?
Did you find out what was wrong
