Simple! This… plus 12,000 other things 😅
And there goes my hopes😂
the examiner is a legend
Great job man we are human and only experience can help you not be nervous. Loved the check prep.
6:30 "Operating Handbook" is not a satisfactory answer and this airline pilot examiner should know that!
Oops the examiner agreed that a POH must be on board. Incorrect; it must be an AFM for that specific airplane. Why? See 14 cfr part 91.9: which fails to connect the dots between W&B and the AFM. An AFM will have that specific aircraft's Weight and Balance data, which you also need according to "ARROW." You don't have to do a W&B calculation for every flight if you are operating with the same load you used before, but if you are challenged on the ramp or by your examiner to justify your loading, you can use the AFM to perform those calcs right then and there. A POH will not help in this case, and is not what the reg requires. It's an Airplane Flight Manual, not a POH or Pilot Information Manual (Piper).
The reason for the omnipresent discrepancy between Hobbs and tach times is NOT due to the fact that the Hobbs meter starts after you turn the master switch on (Cessna), but because the tachometer's rate of movement is slaved to the actual RPMs of the engine. Fly a low rpm mission, you get less tachometer time. High a rpm flight, MORE tachometer time. This is why a touch-and-goes flight (lots of low-power parcels of flight time) will always give you less tach time than Hobbs time.
This was a great and detailed explanation! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you. I am working towards my check-ride. Nice list.
You got this!
I'm 2 weeks away 😖
You can do it!
"Man I should have eat'in before I came here" Good job man. With the pressure on performed well and learned something.
TACH is not off of oil pressure, its engine RPM. HOBBS is either direct wired to batt switch or oil pressure switch.
The student giving the responses spoke too soft could barely hear his responses
Not too many people can afford this cost! Here in Canada the cost is much much more!
So, basically... It's cheaper to rent. ?
I think the short simple answers he’s giving is the best way to do it.
Did well my man
Awesome video! I really want the study guide but the link won’t work:((
Thanks for letting us know. Please check it again, it should be working. If it's not working try from a different browser.
Hello does anyone have the study guide, please and thank you

Great video
Glad you enjoyed it ◡̈
It’s not 200’/min it’s 200’/nm. You cleared it up after a bit but the initial statement was not correct.
great job being real and vulnerable sharing this process of learning and growing! Way to press through the nerves and fear my man. It's easy to be an arm chair quarterback these days so refreshing to see some real genuine content from a student.
Thank you both for sharing this!
Our pleasure!
What does mean Mock?
It means pretend, or practice. Acting as if it was the real thing for the sake of practicing.
@@pilotessentials got it. Thanks!
Have my IR ride coming up, this made me very confident.
So glad to hear you're feeling confident. How did your IR ride go?
@@pilotessentials passed with flying colors, flying through commercial figuratively and literally
come with me ill buy you lunch? hmmm
Actually, multi-engine vs single engine piston vs turbo-prop would make a good next video. Trade-offs between speed vs cost per hour, but also cost per mile. For instance, if I'd fly from KSNA to KRBD with the family, it would take a long time in a cheap (per hour) but slow plane like a Cessna 152, but it would go a lot quicker and therefore maybe cheaper overall in a faster plane, even if the cost per hour is higher due to higher fuel burn and higher maintenance costs.
Part 2??
What if you buy a plane and rent it out for other pilots that need for instance to making flying hours to get at least the minimum that is required. You can also have pilots that want to earn some money and fly with passengers and need a plane for that so they pay you a hourly fee so you can earn a littlebit each time to cover costs. If you buy a more modern plane with digital screens and Garmin 1000 I assume you can fly IFR with ILS instead only VFR flying with a typical 172. Buying a much more modern Cessna can be very expensive but I think if you also rent it out many pilots will use it for training flights. So instead you make a huge investment and pay yearly a lot of money for maybe 100 flying hours. Is owning and automatically renting out the best solution to keep the costs at a bare minimum? You want at the end not only the fixed costs back but also a profit. I would prefer going for flying a Cessna with Garmin 1000 so you have much more awareness where you fly. You can make a flight plans, fly even if the weather isn't great at some sectors and you can trust your instrument's to get not lost because planning and using only paper cards and something happens if you are at an unfamiliar place if you take for instance a long 5 hour flight. So a Cessna equipped with modern equipment and using a Flypad you don't have to be afraid if reading a paper chart isn't your strongest point where navigation is a very important point to be able to fly. But relying somewhat on what you have is not the biggest deal isn't it?
My man Brad Keselowski flying airplanes now!
Hey there buddy I love your videos! I just subscribed to your channel. Do you have any videos on PPLNAV log for the Cessna 172 Skyhawk? I’m stressing and could use some assistance. Thank you kindly
We don't have a video on that topic but it's good to know that would be helpful. Thanks for subscribing!
Very Helpful! thank you
So glad!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
They love putting brothers on the spot don’t they?
🤣 It's to help him! That brother did his thing.
Okay I thought I was the only one getting annoyed by how much this dude talks😂 I gotta watch another one this just a big yap session
Following along at under 3 minutes so far, doing great myself
Thank you for the video..and the notes...
Our pleasure Khalid! Hope it was helpful!
That original video was satire you halfwit
My first flight lesson my instructor passed out and I was just told to keep flying around this small forest area until he wakes up. I barely ever think about that day but during the time all I could think was "I have 4 hours on Microsoft flight simulator and I'm flying above a forest, I'm in danger :)" I flew by myself for like 40 ish minutes and honestly if I had memorised that diagram I bet I could have totally landed the plane by myself lmao
What a wild experience. Glad you were okay!
was there a second part? didn't see it on the side panel
Since the September 11th attacks, the cockpit is basically impossible to enter, so even if you could fly, you wouldn't be able to
Also thats what co pilots are for
Nothing is impossible with enough time and determination. Considering certain death, determination is not gonna be an issue.
@@prashankur not getting through that door
Cabin crew has an emergency code for this purpose. Normally pilots have to approve the cockpit door opening, but if they somehow both die or pass out, the cabin crew can put in an emergency code and the door will open after a minute or so (that delay is so the pilots can still block the door opening in case hijackers somehow got the code from the cabin crew).
Yes but we are not referring to cabin crew no unauthorised person could get through that door, this video is talking about a passenger landing the aircraft.
Best mock oral I've ever seen! I've suffered through quite a few of these, but you guys are quick, know your stuff, and don't have a single "Probably" or "Maybe" between the two of you! The instructor was also quick to complete any partial answers, and left no questions for me as a viewer. Thanks for your guys' help!
Thanks for the compliment!
DPE looks annoyed
I have to fly with this new pilot in the airspace. Scary.
Well he is still learning, but he certainly needs to learn more.
He needs to be more prepared. Should of had the W&B info behind and have the X-country completed. Also talk less.
I’m just as nervous as he is Lord 😂 literally he rubbing his arms his fingers and so am I
Bought a new one. Love it! Highly recommend owning a personal aircraft!
Totally agree! What do you primarily use yours for?
@@pilotessentialsI should clarify it was not a cessna 172, but I use my 2023 Vashon Ranger for charity flight missions such as Pilots N Paws mission.
Love you!!! The way you explain things is just amazing and resonates well
Wow, thank you!
@@pilotessentials absolutely....also used your study guide to create my own.....taking my private checkride soon...thanks
It cut off..wheres the continuation?
Mock oral videos are the best thing to happen to flight training.
Should we keep making more? Maybe for the following checkrides?
