    • @chelseyarmfield
      @chelseyarmfield 28 днів тому

      Yes, it definitely depends on your relationship with alcohol though. I’ve mentioned in my videos before that these options are not safe for everyone. For me a mocktail or an NA beer at the occasional social event is no problem at all, but for someone who is maybe an addict it can be a slippery slope. Everyone should use discernment.

    Stopped drinking 6 days ago. I’m a “one is too many and a thousand is never too much” type of person. I’m this way with food and of the last 2 years the same way with alcohol. I did stop drinking for 9 months in 2022. But then thought I could have one drink on special occasions or when going out to dinner. As you know that just keeps evolving until I was drinking daily. I rarely had a hangover but I just felt like I was poisoning my body. So at almost 63 years old I’m going to stop drinking for good. I really love this video and your 5 suggestions. 10:00 am est.

    My non-alcolholic substitute actually gets me slightly tipsy . It says zero on the front but then 0.5 percent on the bk , because my tolerance dropped so low the 0.5 percent has an effect . But it was the only brand I liked so just tea from now on ..

      @@chelseyarmfield Indeed , I'm on redbush caffeine free it's really nice . After the experience with the beer I'm now reading the labels , and ingredients. I'm really shocked to find my nutritional yeast flakes contain synthetic b 12 called cyanocobalamin which is made from the throth of raw human sewage , no joke . And my favourite soft drink tropical Rio contains artificial sweetners that are nero toxins , literally destroy the brain . And I'm very concerned about an organic broccoli I have in the fridge it's 3 wks past its sale by date and still looks fresh ( keeping as an experiment ) Seems like home grown is the best bet . I was a year sober, I'm now struggling to have 'fun' or connecting moments with people around me & have a sense of 'boredom'. I had a few drinks last night, regretting it and planning on getting sober again, but I just don't know how to find people who are happy and fun and don't need alcohol to have fun. I'm 20, at uni, and everyone drinks.

    I recognize so much of this! Thanks Chelsey! I'm a 50 year old male and quit drinking 3 weeks ago. Permanently. I found out that I drink because of emotional neglects and to copy my father's behaviour to get his 'approval'. I'm currently doing inner child work and get to the root cause of my drinking. Good thoughts and advice, thank you. The benefits I've found are bold and obvious and are motivational. The biggest challenge I've found is the emotional part, dealing with PTSD. Working with a therapist and listening to podcasts like this of people dealing with similar challenges is helpful. Thanks for sharing your journey.

      Thank you for your kind comment! I agree, the emotional component can be difficult with no option to “numb” anymore. Finding new and healthy coping skills isn’t always easy, but it does get easier with time as we adapt to the alcohol free lifestyle (thankfully). Therapy was hugely beneficial to me too.

      Thanks for your response. I'm currently reading Atomic Habits by James Clear and trying to create new healthy habits to replace the numbing option. Best regards and Merry Christmas!@@chelseyarmfield

    Good video. I gave up my love affair with white wine on Sept 26. I twisted the knob on my wine box around 5 pm most every night to let in the good feelings of another day worth living. I perfected my drinking style over 50 yrs as I started at 17 1/2 yrs old and justed turned 68. The white wine, mainly the Chardonnay variety, was my preferred drink the last 20 yrs. I did have occasional 'look in the mirror' conversations about my health but my desire to drink was too passionate. I had a big heart attack on Sept 26 and that settled the nightly drinking. My desire for drinking went away and the wine box went in the recycle bin. My health is improving everyday. Not drinking has been a delight as it's opened up my mornings and made me a better social person. I was surprised that my drinking secluded me to others. I really like my life and my attitude to living since I quit. I can't see any reason to drink again.

    Good tips for finding our purpose. So often today we're told to live our purpose, but not often how to find or develop it. Brainstorm and reflect, Explore your interests, Turn your pain into purpose, Research and learn more, good places to start the journey. Thanks!

    60 days alcohol free, after some 40 years of culturally accepted drinking. Thanks for the tips and congrats for realizing the danger of booze early in life, it is more difficult as you age

      Thank you! And congrats on 60 days, that’s amazing and you should be very proud! It’s so hard to see the many benefits of an alcohol free lifestyle when it’s such a cultural norm to drink.
