I've created this channel to share the things I have learnt over the years since committing to HO scale slot cars. Tuning tips, track building tips, resin casting bodies and custom painting of bodies etc.
A few things I'm working on for HO slots cars.
Resin casting, diecast modification, tools, tech block/width gauge resin casting theory/experimental.

Progress on painting and rail height adjustment on my HO Slot track build. This track build was commenced in July 2020. I've taken the hard road of building a track with vertical flat rail wire without using lock wire to hold it in place. The end result will be a completely smooth track surface with no extra slots or holes. The end result is all that's important. #afx #hotwheels #hotwheelscolle...

Good Stuff ! I've been thinking about casting . This is just what I need to get started. Thanks for sharing !
@@kirkbingham330 great to hear. Casting is certainly a journey. I love how crisp some the details are. I've never regretted starting.
I opened the package springs fell and i never found them!!! Great tip!!!
Sorry to hear that@@anthonypisani2908. That would be pretty frustrating. Did you manage to purchase more?
Bought a pit kit to replace. Do you sell?
@@anthonypisani2908 as I'm located in Australia. For anyone not also in Australia, buying local for common items will be more cost effective, even if my items were cheaper. I have sold to the USA few times. Pretty much foam tyres only though. Besides resin bodies, which I generally only make for racing in my local racing group, that would be the only things that up to now would be unique.
Mind if i ask what state you are in? Im in Victoria.
Do you have stl files
@@Gwirex thanks for the interest. There's no STL files here in this video, it's all hand made.
Thanks good info will try that now

Can I play AFX cars on Scalextric track?
@@vintagebluenote8564 anything is possible with slight modification.
This is a good idea. Like you have done on your front axles, I have used sheets of styrene to make shims to use on my semi- trailers to keep them from sling shotting themselves in the turns.
Awsome idea!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!! Will help a lot!!!!
Regarding my question and your answer, you've backed up what I thought in regards to the amps, and I'm sure the OS3 Lite is capable of 22 volts for short periods so that shouldn't be an issue (it's only a drag strip after all). My hunch is it's pots going bad but I don't know what ohms they are. Any ideas? Edit: And great to hear you've got more in the pipeline. I'll keep my eye out here and on FB
My replies keep getting deleted @murdervalleyraceway
Fantastic idea... and thanks for doing this style of more educational video rather than the normal News Review style. It's not that I don't like the news ones it's just there's already enough of that style and not enough innovation and education like yours. Quick question, I have an adjustable transformer (up to 30v 10amp) running both lanes of my drag strip that I don't run over 22v and 6amp for Auto World Funny Cars only, the rest I use 6amp still but lower voltage, but I kept having issues with my OS3 Lites so I've switched to the Truspeeds like you have, will I have any issues? I do run them with brakes (because I have to for some cars).
@@nunyabusiness6090 thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I can assure you, there's way more coming, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Tooling like this opens up possiblities. I've got more gadgets I'm adding to the list also. It should be pretty interesting where I can take it from here. I'm certainly looking forward to it. Back to the question: You can turn the amps knob up to full, as the cars only draw the amps you need. As for volts, I run a 0 - 30 volt 20 amp power supply, with the amps turned up full. I don't have any issues with any controllers I've ever used on there at all. Not even stock AFX controllers. Did this answer the question, or did I miss something?
Awesome video.Great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
@@davidwhite6164 thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
I learned that years ago and now when i can tell a chassis is worn out is when that hole is broke and noore adjustments can be made i chunk chassis and save parts of course
looks amazing! keep plugging!
GOOD JOB..
Thanks for sharing, great tutorial!!!!!
Thanks Nico, much appreciated.
Get to it man. You seem the resilient type..lol Sorry and sucks just the same. Looks fantastic dewd. Keep us posted
It looks stellar. Can imagine racing on it. Wow. Your efforts will be rewarded.
Great idea! I am in the process of build my home track and purchase my cars. I used to race back I the and of the nineties but life took me away from the hobby and now, with 44 years old I have discovered the HO slot cars and I’m looking forward to get back! I live in Brazil and my city doesn’t have public tracks anymore, so, I loved your idea! Thanks!
@@mfgonzalez1978 I'd love for more to compete. Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it.
More details on the layout etc are in this video ua-cam.com/video/3k9iKGGBDq4/v-deo.htmlsi=wfSfDhaDKedyCONO
100% agree that the guys selling HO gear are great. I just went and had a look at those controllers online, as I'm currently having issues with one of my OS3 Lite controllers, but someone bought them all! Oh well, next shipment maybe 😁 I've also got a few of those TFX chassis' and man are they low. You wouldn't be doing any slightly larger foam tyres would you?
@@nunyabusiness6090 sorry about the controller purchase (I did say it was fresh). Do yourself a favour, shave your rails down to 0.2 - 0.3mm so you can run them at a stock height. You'll thank me later. If you get onto Bru Gog on Facebook, he makes a 3D printed version of my lane shaver called the Rail mate.
Very cool layout ,, i cant wait until its finished and your racing on it,, and im sure your even more anxious 😂😂
@@John-el8dy this is true. For a while there, I started to lose faith in myself that I could get it built. I certainly chose the hard road for the method.
Hope you like the controllers!!!! I tried one with a 1/32 car, not my cup of tea....., but tastes are different!!!!!!!
@@slotcardude68 did you adjust the trim pot on the board to your liking? The difference after tuning it is like chalk and cheese.
@@murdervalleyraceway yes I did, it's a question of: how does it feel...... They are good controllers, no question, I just prefer others.
@@slotcardude68 I spent an afternoon with Mike )Show Us Ya Slots) comparing my OS3 Allpro to 1:32 and 1:24 controllers on a HO track. Mike's experience tuning the controllers I was unfamiliar with, my experience driving and setting up my OS3 as the comparison and test mule. The BPII, while I'm not a massive fan of the squarer shape to the handle grip, definitely returned the best feel for HO out of the selection, and the closest lap times to the OS3 using Race Coordinator as the timing system.
@@murdervalleyraceway 👍👍👍
@@murdervalleyracewayWhat about Di Falco? People say is the best
So you put grooves in the roadway, then pressed/glued the rails into place, then painted, then sanded?
@@track1219the build pics are in this video. Note, it's all hand done. The design is all sketched with a pencil, cut with a hand held router, not on a CNC router like most HO routed tracks you see. ua-cam.com/video/2VnvLhZfCx8/v-deo.htmlsi=CQ6b8VerJ3Extop_
Oh it’s getting there so cool 👍👍👍🤟

Great job!

Just tease us some more MVR. Wish I could help.
Any adapter for slotit to afx?
@@yunghanhuang8188 how do you mean? What sort of an adaptor are you after? I would advise (if you want to use AFX plugs) just cut the plug off the AFX controller, and hook the wires up. However, if this is what you want to do, you will never be able to use the braking function. The AFX plugs will only ever allow you to use 2 wires.
Hey MVR been a while, been taking care of elderly parents for the last year constantly, so not much time still to do much. But I have bought a few cars, the dreaded Super III and 4 gear, I said I was not going to buy again....Thanks to your interest in them I gave them another shot. I found that the 2022/2023 4 gears (large funny cars for drag racing) are much better, and the S III 2023 are MUCH better than the older ones, and the bodies are smaller which I like much better, but the liveries are so, so on the stock cars. The newer S III bodies work around the track much better than the older larger bodies, they are top heavy and de-slot way too easily. I have a bit of a cheat though. I have a set of Rooster Racings IROC Super 7 chassis, and I modified S III clips to fit the S III to the S 7 chassis, and it works great at slower speeds. The older S III Nascar bodies liveries are the best I have seen out of the other choices, and they are pretty nice going around the track at slower speeds as well. Anyway, interesting to see you back at the track building. I'm not familiar with that paint, but I would use a good alkyd primer because as you know that "paper board" is going to raise the "grain" something fierce if water based is used. Ask me how I know.....:) I hope it is going well, the track looks great.
@@JDL_2020 thanks for the feedback on the Auto World chassis's. I need to buy more 4 Gears I think? As for the paint, White Knight is an Australian paint company. Basically it's fast dry alkyd paving paint, and even though it's considered a gloss paint, the fast dry additive cuts the gloss to about 80-90% so better for grip, and hard wearing. I actually didn't use a primer at all this time, I thinned the paint down with a bit of turpentine so it could penetrate into the surface better. I got more work done on the track last night (second coat is now on). I filled with caulking compound this morning, and I'll third coat tonight. I'll do a new video end of week with my progress, I've been taking plenty of pics along the way.
@@murdervalleyraceway Many of the paints are primers now anyway. I look forward to the update, it looks like it's going to be great. As always with Auto World, buyer beware. But my last 2 2022 series 4 gear are both faster than my other older 4 gears. I received the Ron Capps Iwheels white NAPA as a gift and it's so so out of the box, but looks great. And the newer Super III really surprised me in size and running/ build quality compared to my last experience and others reporting as well. I have a picture of the bodies on the Super 7 I will try to post. The last time I posted a link I was put in timeout for 24 hours with no explanation. But I think you are not a magnet fan and the S 7 is high magnet down force but handle like a dream and FAST, too fast actually.
Hi. Did you say glue them in place?
@@jimandkellykemble9983 sorry, was that glue the pick up shoe springs in place? If so, yes, just the side of the pick up shoe spring that attaches to the chassis. You'll never lose them again.
Right , so here I go. I want to purchase some of your tires . I have been a racer for years. We race super 2s which have foam tires ( came with the foam tires OEM ), that is just one of our classes . I'd like to try a tjet & a tuff one style ( foam ) also . that is 3 of our classes but , we use silicone over sponge tires in other classes. It can't be that crazy ( $ ) to send 6 , 8 sponge tires in a padded envelope. I was the same guy that ( you showed the double cutter) (made the video for ) ( well me & others ), but I still want your tires to try in certain classes ( cause you can not use the sil-sponge tires in that class ) , weight ? vs. grip ? ? ? You see I have others making 3d printed wheels ( light ) , ? with light foam tires ? Maybe bets grip , ? The last race I ran 330s & 16 ohm vs several 350 sil-sponge & 5.5 ohm os3 (what?) ?? The head guy asked bout the clearance . I said I could drop more . Just always trying something. And I wanted your email cause : I WANT to PURCHASE TIRES from YOU Mr murder Valley. 6 - 8 pairs maybe more . I know you said already , you wanted to sell, you did not want to sell. Want to try to race your tires in at least 3 different classes in our " that class" (racing since '80s) (some of us)(fisherowski's) (zerns)(Penn Valley) , we been racing a long time... So...thanks... Tony.... That is why I wanted your email to see what ( sizes ) and your metric so basically afx , Magna , t jet , tfx os3, & if you make a tuff one,& if you make a 4 gear.🏁🏁 Tony ...
Think it was last spring or last year I tried contacting you and you sent me your email. But it was through on of these UA-cam comment correspondence and it took me weeks ( go back and watch ) to finally find. I never got to it and after a while its lost in the cloud ( not mention new laptop). You see I don't I won't be a bug , but have a couple of questions ??? You can't find an email address for murder Valley ( don't Facebook , never liked the notes in high school), will you send me your email again? I'll ask and I'll go play with my slot cars. I have crude internet devices ( UA-cam ) ( barely use a cell phone ), but have ,of well used put away wet , not perfect body, 2 or 3 slot cars... Thank you, , Tony... AFX old school 🏁🏁🏁

@@seanciaudella4147 that's awesome. Who knows maybe one day it just might happen. I've got so many plans for this. I purchased a hoard of NOS AFX non mag chassis's 5 or 6 years ago that I've been waiting till I had a smooth enough track for them to really shine on.
