When I edit Mario's color palette in YY-CHR and Lunar Magic Nothing happens. Do you have any idea what I need to do?

Haha, man I watched this video like 3 times without experimenting with trying it and just the first part getting into this got too complicated for me in particular. I'm more slow than other people. If I could make it sink in faster I'd be making my first levels like this.

I just want to know how to rip the sprites/information from the Super Mario World Laser Suit hack into other hacks?
I think the video is great, but i feel you really overuse map16 and should have explained object better...and first. Per example, you build your own checkpoints and goalpost when a simple search in the object list you can find one already built there. map16 is a nice tool, but you should always use the object list first especially for stuff like slopes.
Dude slow down, how should i even get a .smc file? All i can find are .srm and i wasn't able to find any free converter
Hey, how do I add custom block patches? Any patch that isn’t a simple status bar remover or RETRY, It will result in an error. I’ve tried to add one way conveyers, walljump blocks, smm spikes, death blocks, rainbow shell converters. and custom switch blocks, all of them result in an error. What do I do?!
how do i get a copy of the original game for my rom?
Hi Dexter! Unfortunately, it's a super lengthy and expensive process to get the original file. You have to get a physical copy of the SNES cartridge, and then extract it. I highly recommend joining an SMW ROM Hacking discord community for further instructions. I suggest joining the discord at smwcentral.net Lots of great people there who will point you in the right direction. :)

Hi thanks this is so helpful. One issue I'm having is when I load the game on my emulator, Mario isn't appearing where I've put his sprite. He appears in the same old spot even though there is no level of path there. Any suggestions?
Hello! You mean on the overworld? I have great news, this is an easy fix. When you start up your ROM, just start a new save file. This will actually solve most other problems, pretty much every overworld change.

Yes, you can do that in both the overworld and in the levels. Which one are you having trouble with?

@@yxzcs Okay so, at about 1:20 I show the 5 icons on the overworld that select different things. I am hoping it is the same in your version of Lunar Magic. Once you select the lakitu / Sprite Icon, you should be able to move Mario. The MOST IMPORTANT THING is that this change will not take effect until you start a new save file. When you start up your ROM, and you can choose to open file A, B, or C, make sure you are starting on a fresh file. You have to clear any files that already have data, even if it says "0". Let me know if that works!

@@yxzcs happy to help! P.s. you also have to use this trick if you ever install the Retry Patch. Now that I think about it, that trick solves most problems lol. Anywho, have fun and best of luck in your projects!
Im having a problem with the asar separate luigi graphics, everytime I reset the game it only plays the nintendo presents screen and crashes, is there something im doing wrong?

Hello Mr. Gaming! May I call you Luigi? I remember having this issue and I think it might be fixed by starting a new save file. (That solves most of my problems). Give it a try and lmk what happens. P.s. I still use this trick, in Google you can search what you're looking for but include "smwcentral" at the start, and you'll likely find forum posts of the same problem. I typed: smwcentral reveal tile on event Got a few good hits Good luck!

@@Luigigaming354 oh, like when you start up your ROM and get past the title screen, you can choose file A B or C. Most overworked changes don't take effect on an existing save file. Gotta clear the save data.

When I click retry it kicks me out of my emulator. I use snes9x

Can you use FLIPS instead of asar to apply the retry patch? Also where did you find the retry patch was it on smw central? Thanks in advance much appreciated
Hi! Yes smwcentral is my favorite spot for resources. To find something, i usually go to google and type, for example, "smwcentral retry patch" and you'll get this link. www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=26078 it's the "with multiple checkpoints" which is optional. After applying this patch, you have to start on a new save file or it will not work. As for your FLIPS question, I'm sorry but I do not remember. It has been a long time for me since doing any ROM hack work. Good luck!

So I'm trying to piece together a nice polished super Mario rom hack.... what I would like to know... If anyone could give me the right order of operations..... Patches.... custom music.....custom sprites.....copy...paste some already made levels... Does it matter? In which order should it be done?
Hello! Most of the process is modular, so you can put it together any step of the way. For example, when installing a new patch like the Retry patch, the only thing you'll have to do is start a new Save File, and everything else can stay the same. Or, once you've imported music, you might have to restart Lunar Magic before you'll see the option to use that song on your level, but again everything else stays the same. You can even lay down your level design first, and then import the custom graphics. It would replace just the visuals.

Hiii Dan, These tutorials were very helpful and thank you so much for the information. But I have one last question : Will you please tell me how to end the rom hack like in the original one we kill the boss browser and the animations of ending starts and credits appears. Please help me out about how to create and setup the last level.
So happy I could help! And oh yes that's a good question. After reading through some forums it looks like the credits will only trigger after Bowser is defeated, but I imagine you want to change the level and it won't be Bowser.
