I Went on CHINA's High-Speed TRAIN! (What Is it Actually Like?)
In today's video, we are going to be taking one of China's High-Speed Trains from Hefei city in Anhui Province to Shanghai. Now I've spent the last week in Hefei, visiting my partner Cindy's family but its time to make the 2 hour and 15 minute journey east to the mega city of Shanghai. These trains can reach speeds over 300kph and are the easiest and cheapest way to travel around China. We will start the journey from Hefei South Station, where I also explain the process for security and boarding as a foreigner, before making our way to the train platform where we will board the Chinese High-speed Train. We stopped at a few stations on the way to shanghai and actually reached a top speed of 307kph at a few points during the rail journey. I also provide some interesting information regarding the high-speed rail network in China, being it is the most extensive highspeed network in the world.

Great vid and thanks for sharing, reading peoples comments on turbulence is always an interesting insight. Having some 30+ years flying both as pilot and pax, I don't mind turbulence that much but always remain alert when the dinks cart with hot kettles is near by. Perhaps the worst I have ever experienced (as a passenger) was in the early 90's heading into Melbourne aboard an Ansett A320, we got hammered from about 7000ft till touchdown. The overhead bins popped open, peoples bits and pieces were strewin all over the aircraft, there were many screams, people crying, swearing with even the Hosties looking worried. Mind you, I was parked at the back in the last row (the worst place to be, except for the crew seats!) the only thing that had me on edge was the sound of the airframe taking all the stresses, I could hear the vertical stabilizer stressing and creaking along with the rest of the empannage (back of plane). Not having much actual flight experience as a pilot in those days, I was a little unnerved by it but knew the plane was up to the job. The pilots did a go-round on first attempt to land as the plane was tackling significant crosswind, you could actually hear the wind rushing the side of the plane! The final landing was very professional and made use of another runway, the windsock was straight out and swinging wildly, all regional flights were cancelled that day and for good reason!

Great review Luke of what a domestic flight over in the PRC looks like - impressive they took care of your dietary needs. Bugger all chance that would happen domestically in Australia! It's been about 10 years since the first and only time I've been to mainland PRC in Guangzhou certainly keen to visit the north one day maybe Shanghai and Beijing! I've heard they will be trialing 15 day visa free tourist visits for the rest of this year for Aussies and certain other nationalities which is a pleasing development I reckon!

@@AussieJetSetterYeah on short hops around Aus it’s just snacks and I have to ask if there is anything GF. Yeah no kidding, I’d definitely recommend Shanghai… it’s a fair bit different to Guangzhou. That’s correct, I actually have a mate who’s keen to go now since they are going to start the 15 day visas… I could be wrong but I think it starts from September.

Great video, Luke. The Grand Palace is gorgeous. Fortunately, my Thai friend warned me about the no shorts rule before I went, so I didn’t have to buy the pants. Sounds like you had a great trip to Bangkok. Hope your travels to China went smoothly!

@@mba0005 Yeah I should have known and previously always wore pants while in Chiang Mai last year… took a chance but understandable. Yep, good you have a Thai friend that can provide info on these things. Yeah Bangkok is great and somewhere we would return in a heartbeat! China was good in the process of getting those videos done.
