I mow for my parents. just had a three week delay for a combination of debris idiodicy, wet weather (boy, did we need it though), and breakage. found out the brand new zero turn just purchased this spring was actually New Old Stock, and they'd stopped making parts! imagine having to hunt up a certian online place just to find the belt for the deck. it doesn't help my mother doesn't believe in most power tools, there's a literal impossible slope behind the house (about 45 degrees!), and there's dry rock walls around everything with plantings. considering how much work you guys had to do for that much acerage, the rate sounds pretty good.

I’m a DIY homeowner, and create and maintain my garden beds using the same method as you, with one exception. My initial cut is made using a half-moon edging shovel. It really makes light work of that fist step.

Should have hired a neighbor farmer with a bushhog for the first cut. I can assure you that the rural community where I live that neighborly farmer would have gladly done it the first time for free.

The real work takes place between biweekly 1.5 hr visits so that there is something to mow other than weeds

I had an area that floods when it rains as the neighbors downspout is aimed at the side of my house. I will give this a try. I have also thought of adding a retaining wall to separate the properties. Thanks

Imagian, a landscaper, who buys this equipment, and property. Charges the customer, and other landscapers. Produces the mulch themselfs. Then sells this mulch to there customers, and other landscapers. Pure profit, from existing customers, and making a big business off other landscapers. brah... Looks like something my company needs to get involved in...

Really that much for landscaping. Starting to understand why everyone i knew from school, who didn’t learn anything there. Became landscapers self employed or few motion ones even have a crew. Didn’t think there would be so much money in something they could basically do themselves. But i guess thats where the price comes in, either they’re too old to be able, or rich enough to afford having someone else do it.

Wow. You don’t charge much considering you have a crew. The cost to get there and maintenance and gas.

I was taking care of my parents property after they passed and I was there cleaning the house out and they grass cutter said he would be out at a certain time. He called me well after that time and said he would be there in an hour. A few hours later, he showed up smelling like pot. Being late is one thing, but taking time out to smoke weed before you come and cut grass is stupid and likely dangerous. I never had him back after that day.

My value as a landscaper is much higher than what the owners try to give me credit for. If grass was so "cheap" they would do it themselves and they would've found a cheaper option already. When the sun and mosquitoes start to wear them down, that's when that $100-$200 quote doesn't sound too bad

This is whats up, man. i just did this in my front yard this weekend. I just kind of did it not knowing it was a thing. just didnt want to see any plastic between my bed & my new lawn, although I did fill in the edge, I'll go back out this weekend & pull back that mulch to expose the edge. Should have watched this 1st.

How do you keep the mower from falling down into the deep crevice? My kids keep scalping my lawn edge because it’s so hard to get close to the edge without sometimes getting too close and going over the edge.

I have been in the landscape maintenance business since Hugo struck SC in 1989. I am a recent amputee trying to get back into the business as I get better with mobility on my prosthesis. Right now I am doing what I can because I get overheated easier. However, I charge $100-$250 per visit on 1/4 acre residential, depending on the needs and wants of the customer. The prices can go higher for properties exceding 1/4 acre. I get a lot of jaw drops on my prices, but I do find people willing to pay. Some people do not realize, its just not a man cutting the grass. Its the experience (the way I can make the property look), plus upkeep of the equipment, the gas prices, and most importantly, a living wage after expenditures for bills and healthcare. Doing a lawn for cheap has no rewards and can easily put a hard working man in the red, especially if he gets sick, hurt, or has equipment failure. Nice video.

Gotta love the new homeowners. Not afraid to spend a little on their investment and always happy to have the help. Just had one today cut a few dead trees, cleaned the gutters, blew off the debris from the remnants of 🌀 Debbie.

Majority of the blue collar world is a luxury service. That’s why people think we should be payed peanuts. They could technically do without it but people are inherently lazy.. therefore we have jobs lol.

Mulch is one of the biggest money scams ive ever seen. You pay $5 a bag for big chunks of grinded up wood, hundreds of dollars later and many trips to the store later, you finally get done. The finished job is some pretty flowerbeds that last at most 2 weeks tops before rainfall destroys it and weeds start to grow out of control. Even worse, every stray cat and squirrel in the entire neighborhood will come use your mulch bed as a litterbox and constantly dig it out, scatter it everywhere, destroy it. You end up wasting hundreds of dollars for essentially 2 weeks of being pretty. Big waste of money and time.

I have received almost 30 truck loads of wood chips mostly a 550 truck. My garden love them and leaves and pine needles

I'm now slightly better at mulching. Never tampered it before.

Nice work. My mower of choice is a Toro Turfmaster with high lift blades and a Scag v ride 32 stand on. My vehicle is a Ford Transit Cargo van lol no trailer needed. I also do lots of leaf cleanups in the fall.

Make sure there's nothing on that lawn that can damage the mower. Most likely there's junk hidden in the tall grass.

I just found your channel and am wondering what part of the country you’re in. Because of the rolling hills and sudden downpours, I would guess around Richmond or Berea Kentucky?

In autumn when leaves are blown out of the beds, are you able to blow out the leaves without disturbing the mulch? Looks great, and real gardeners don’t wear gloves!
