I thought it odd too Fanucci always wearing the same white suit and living in a shitty little apartment. What did he do, wash that same suit every night? He probably only owned one skid-marked pair of underwear.
He didnβt know.
THE BOOKS AWSOME, 100X BETTER THAN THE MOVIE π¬ SO MUCH BETTER,EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER GETS MUCH MORE WRITING TIME βοΈ IN THE BOOK
" Michael said hello "
Great music video, there was this voice speaking throughout the whole thing, but it certainly didnβt get in the way of the song.
Culture Mafia would like to have a word with you.
We only really know what a consigliere is nowadays. In 1972, people wouldnβt have gotten the importance of the position
Tbh I don't think it matters if he was a fraud or not Fanucci showed weakness and that was enough for Vito to know he could off him
Fanucci might have been fake but the way he operated wasn't that fake. You have to remember that mafia that time wasn't as consolidated as today. That time a boss or what would latter become a boss used to take care of things themselves. That's what gave them the reputation and fear for others to follow him as leader. It was a time when tough men were real tough and would give you a beating rather than a shooting.
Fabrizio....sounds like a fabric softener. I didn't know that Fish had a grandfather in the MOB. After all, it was only business.
The laudist man in the room is the weakest man in the room ( American gangster)
Vito knew instantly that no Don or Boss collects on his own. That's what his men are for, his crew. It was a sign that Fanucci was a scam artist playing a dangerous game. Only lower level members collect on debts or tributes, not the Boss. And siccing the police on Vito was another sign--what mobster would use the police like that? And then Vito had heard in the neighborhood that others didn't pay. It all added up to weakness and when Vito confronted Fanucci and lowballed him and he accepted, he knew he was weak and that his position could be taken over. Vito kills Fanucci and gains his rep. People then come to him for advice, favors, loans, protection and events. They can't go to the police because they were crooks themselves shaking people down.
BECAUSE IT WAS IN THE SCRIPT , THAYS HOW
Ask the German accountant, he knows everything.
using deleted scenes to make a point is bad. It's like paying for items using money that is locked up in a vault that doesn't belong to you, particularly so in the world of fiction. The imaginary upon the imaginary simply to back up an argument that cannot be refuted.
Don Fanucci was probably given that position by a family member who died/retired. He didn't earn it. And there for was not respected. Its almost like they got that part of the real story from Paul Castellano given the position of the boss of the Gambino family. And then Gotti killed him because he didnt see him as a real gangster.
Genco is literally the guy they go visit in the hospital after the wedding.
Genco Died everybody who seen the Godfathers 1 & 2 knows since 1974 π what happened. They even had A deleted scene were the Godfather visits a dying Genco who asks if the godfather could ask god to spare his life and Vito saying he has no such power a touching scene which i felt they should have added and i think did in later years in re- releases also why can't people narrate there own videos the lazines what happend? ??? π
I love how these analysis videos add more feeling and life to the movie with their own interpretation, music etc.
If you watch the deleted scenes you'll know how Vito figured Fanucci out. Vito saw him in the alley getting roughed up by street punks, Genco asked Vito what did he think of a man like Fanucci which he replied "He's not such a big shot". you should've just posted that video instead of wasting your time making up stories.
Vitoβs entire backstory in Italy literally answers this question. Vito had been plotting in his head on how to confront the Italian boss and knew Fanucci would be a cakewalk. Nobody else in his area knew any better.
Good video. Can you reduce the background audio next time? Thanks!
It's a 50 year old movie. Let's spend time on more important things.
My cue was that Fannucci always wore the same dirty suit
does maranzalla exist then??? π€
Don Fanucci had a closet full of the same suits he was the original Steve Jobs.
Vito is a tactical genius. Heβs able to see deleted scenes in the story heβs in. This is representative of his ability to see possible futures or alternate events
Cut down the background noise!
I know what happened, he quantum leaped to 1990 and changed his name to Carbone and again worked for Deniro in Goodfellas.
Vito should have thought Tom a son and taken him to visit Geico.
Genco died of cancer
Coppola should put out an extended version for Godfather 1 and 2. Never mind Godfather 3. The only way to improve that movie is to edit out Sofia Coppola scenes and replace it with Winona Ryder, if that is technically feasible.
I never considered this before. Very observant. Good
I recall a million years ago them making one giant TV movie out of both 1 and 2 in chronological order. I think it included the throat slicing scene! Until this video, I'd not thought Fanucci an outright fraud, just much less powerful than he let on but all of your points are terrific. Makes me think, will anyone be discussing most films coming out today 50 years from now?
Fanucci had to have done SOMETHING at some point to get a reputation
Fucking loud music bro
Don Fanucci was working byself in neigbourhood he was not protected and started feeling compfortable with Vito when he gave him credit when Fanucci did that Vito Corleone knew he was a easy target to be taking down and out. Conclusion Don Fanucci was just bully and Vito Coreleone knew that and he knew he had to take him out to get his business off the ground.
love the way de niro puts a gun to Fanucci's mouth to make sure and kicks the corpse out of the way - good video but if you watch the original film you wouldnt have the cues from the deleted scenes
I thought Vito built his organization from fanuccis...after fanuccis de*the,Vito became a respected man,he even had to show his face at gambling joint in which he was paid a percentage....I really don't think fanucci was really a fraud
Are you kidding? The movie wasnβt a documentary.
He went to get the papers the papers
Don Fanucci kind of looked like a Puerto Rican. He had a John Leguizamo look. Many Italians immigrated to Puerto Rico around the same time as this, but that doesn't explain a casting decision. Maybe it was one of those things like in the miniseries "The Pacific" where the Puerto Rican played the Italian (John Bassilone) and the Italian played the Puerto Rican (Manny).
He was collecting the money himself, got jumped by 2 punks, whom got nothing in terms of retribution and he wasn't a good negotiator.
The motivation for Michael's revenge is not a psychopathic need, he saw his father protect his family and eliminated any threat, survival was the reason in the mafia world (Vito Andolini was a boy when his father and mother were killed by Mafia in Corleone). The day he was punched by the crooked cop, Michael got sense knocked into him, his service to his country meant nothing, his belief in the law and good citizenship all were shattered and he swore to protect his shot up father in the hospital, he just could not be treated like a nobody, he would rain down Vengeance on all who hurt him and his family- he even killed his brother in law Carlo (for getting Sonny killed), his brother Freddo as they were weak and dangerous for his family. His world made him a cold avenger, as no weakness would be excused, he was the one that was chosen by fate to get them to next generation. Never forget this was a criminal world and killing was an option they could not forego!
I never took that Fanucci was a boss or a capo but an earner for a family, possibly not even a made man. If he just an earner, he wouldn't have a crew, he might be part of one or merely be an associate of a crew member. I was under the impression no one sought retribution because no one would pin it on Vito andor Vito and his crew were stronger than anyone who would care to avenge Fanucci.
He's also carbone in Goodfellas
seriouly the music is way too loud
What were Vito's choices - Genco, Clemenza and Tessio? Genco was the earliest friend before the other two strangers, Genco was a Sicilian and not a rash man.. that and further shrewd dealings would have given the godfather enough reasons to consider Genco as a consiglieri. Hagen - the adopted son- became the new Consiglieri because he was an - "American" - lawyer and wanted to work with the Don. Don trained him to be a consiglieri, so that was always a shortcoming because he was not a Sicilian, because of Hagen the Corleone family was called the Irish Gang as a joke. Hagen failed to control or anticipate the attack on Don, Luka, Sonny and the power of drug business, maybe not his fault but that was under his watch, also he had a mistress- a big issue for don and Michael as it showed lack of loyalty to his own wife and children was the reason enough for him to be side-lined later. The temper and other reason Sonny was never considered to be a good next don was that sonny was a womanizer, and that Old Don knew to be a big flaw. All that Sollozzo mess eventually had a bit of blood cleaning and paved the way to Michael becoming the Don - a shrewd successor. Mario Puzo wrote about family, loyalty and betryal.. like a Greek tragedy.
Also Don Fanucci claimed to be Sicilian and spoke Italian with a neopolitan accent.
Your videos are so good. They are short, really insightful and FREE OF EMPTY FILLER! You reveal so much that is not obvious and do it with clarity and brilliance.
Thank you!
