I changed the pistons in my engine to raise the compression from 8.5 to 10.5 because the 100 degree temps around here had the engine maxed out. I could barely maintain a 15' hover. Now the engine seems to have lots more power and is much more responsive to throttle inputs.

What is the diameter of your main shaft? In my case, the diameter is 35 mm (round bar, material 4140) for the central one, because it is coaxial. I hope it will be enough because the mlment is divided into two shafts??? Thanks

Which Subaru engine are you using? What is the rotor gearbox out of?

    • @jonb9428

The engine is a Subaru EJ257 with modified SOHC heads and intake. The main gearbox is a front differential from a 97 Chevrolet 4x4, modified internally to run at 90 degrees offset.

Hi, great job. What is the total weight of the helicopter and how much do you think it will be able to carry more cargo? I ask because I'm starting to build a coaxial helicopter, I'm thinking of using an EJ 25 engine, so I'm interested in some winning characteristics? For me, only the main shaft with gears will weigh close to 100 kg. :( Thank you very much...
