I'm a self proclaimed muscle car fanatic. Ever since I was a kid I have been infatuated with cars but more specifically the factory street beasts of the 60s and 70s. I'm always ready to talk about all things muscle car and I made this channel to share the cars I find interesting as well as my own projects and whatever else I find along the way.
1969 Oldsmobile W46 Hurst Olds 455 Barn Find
1969 Oldsmobile W46 Hurst Olds 455 barn find. I know the term barn find gets tossed around a lot nowadays but this was legitimately found in an Iowa barn after a decades long slumber. The car was apparently last driven in 1982. It was a pleasure to be able to go see this car in person and share it with you. I thank the owner for the hospitality and willingness to allow me to check the car out. #oldsmobile #musclecar #barnfind

Lemon Twist 1970 Plymouth Road Runner convertible. V code 440 6 barrel. 3.54 Track Pack four speed. 1 of 20 known to be built. Imagine rowing through tje gears with the top down, Air Grabber door up and everyone's envy set to max. It was nice to see the wire hubcaps when so many would just throw rallye wheels or steelies with poverty caps. #mopar #plymouth #roadrunner #plymouthroadrunner #muscl...

This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 429SCJ is a survivor drag car named Witch Doctor. It was raced around the midwest by Dr. Keith Garner and his son Greg. It's still in its as raced configuration. It has been in long term storage and was only recently made mechanically sound by the current owner. It's amazing that this Cobra survived 54 years without restoration or modification. #ford #torino #cobra

Rambling While Cleaning a Wiring Harness for a 71 Cuda
Sad a very limited production but desirable muscle car fell into the hands of owners whose neglect & indifference let it decline to a poor condition. I agree with others that a potential buyer would be foolish to overpay and then go further down that rabbit hole with a very costly proper restoration. Maybe just bring it back to a "20 footer" driver and with luck the present engine is servicable.
Fantastic meme!!! Just dragged a 71 Chevelle SS out of the trees!!
Nice! What drivetrain and color combo?
Antique green on green 350 4 speed. Drive train missing so thinking of putting LS5 tremec combo in it
My first car was a 72 Olds CS , it’s still in my garage..!!
That's awesome! I have a 72 Cutlass S. I bought it in 2004 but sold it the same year to fund a Super Bee that never happened. I was able to buy the Olds back in 2014 and still have it. It's my only non Mopar. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
How much did the new owner pay for this olds
I can't answer that as I don't discuss the financials with the owners. I don't want to overstay my welcome, if you know what I mean. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
These things were very quick. The 360 was often overlooked because of the AMC 401. That motor would run easily with any motor in its class. Long live AMC muscle! 💪🏽
@@audieconrad8995 I'd love to find out!
I’ve probably been in at least 1000 barns. I found a few old dried out tires. That’s about it.
I haven't ever found anything this cool either. A friend of mine found a BOSS 429 once. I'm in the old dried yp tire club with you.😆 Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
That olds is a good score. There was one like it a couple blocks away from my house as a kid in 70’s. Remember seeing it drive by all the time.
Very nice find! Can't say if this H/O 455 of the 70 Torino SCJ drag racer tops it, but you're on to something, keep it rolling. For what it's worth, what's the mileage on this Olds? Thanks! P.S. Drag racing track record, superb fuel economy, and petty insurance for it must have convinced the owner to trade it in for a Gremlin. Change my mind 😁😁😁.
Thank you! I'm trying.🙂 The milage shows 73,617. Not sure if it's been over once. Not sure it matters with a different engine. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Thank you so much for posting this, Keith was a great man and I enjoyed talking with him on a variety, of topics, including drag racing. He had quite a life story to tell. When Dr. Garner passed, at his funeral in Mesa AZ, they had some of his Wally trophies out to look at, including the US Nationals.
You're welcome! I'm glad it brought back some fond memories of talking with him. It would be cool to see one of his Wally's. Thanks for watching.
That motor missing just dropped it 50% or more. Too bad he didn’t keep the numbers matching motor. You can’t really call it a restore without the numbers matching engine.
The current owner would be thrilled to have the original engine, but unfortunately, it was gone 40 or more years ago. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Little old Iowa? That is so so cute
😂 Not sure why I said that but that's how I'll refer to it from now on. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
@@musclecarsyndicate Excellent cars, the 69 Hurst Olds. I`ve had two over the years, One numbers matching With correct D heads and the other was not. The ram air air cleaner might be hard to find as will be the correct intake manifold. The correct intake had a spot for a pcv valve , as I remember😀
Bagley's garage Lansing Michigan if they still exist may be able to help you find parts also downtown Lansing Michigan Re olds museum would be a great starting point best of luck with your restoration
I'll pass that on yo the owner. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
I thought all 442's had red inner wheel wells in front - ??
The Hurst/Olds was given black inner fenders. I'm not sure why. I just made a post a week or two ago on Instagram profiling a beautifully restored 69 Hurst/Olds and it also has black inner fenders. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment. instagram.com/p/DDdbXT6NVFc/?igsh=MWF1bnVkamh3MWZ2Zg==
I believe the ignition should be on the dash....not on the column
True for 1968 but it was moved to the steering column in 1969. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Interior smells as bad as it looks . Then clean it out.
@@kevinharms7578 It's not my car. I'm sure it will be addressed. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
In the late 70's I had a 68 H/O. Bought it for 500 bucks with a blown engine. One the many cars I wish I could have kept. Trunk release is vac operated, oddly enough the power door locks were also vac operated if so optioned.
@gsfinatic I like the paint scheme on 68s a little better than the 69s but I wouldn't turn either away. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Very rare!! Like those Grand Prix’s too, hell I drive one; one of the last year models though. Still scoots pretty good
One of my dream cars! 1969’s were some of the best looking Cutlasses!!
It would be an easy choice for a dream car! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
What a Awesome find! Have seen 1 of them on the road since the 90's!😊
I've never actually seen one driving down the road. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Nice video. Great car. Not a Cutlass though. Actual 442. Also, I am almost certain this one is a W-45 (non-air). W-45 got more aggressive engine parts and had 10 more hp.
Yes, I overlooked the "344" VIN and should have talked about how the car was essentially a debadged 442 that just so happened to have a 455 installed in place of the 400. I believe the W-45 vs W-46 was a 68 thing, but I'm probably wrong, but I do know the 1970 Olds Rallye 350 was labeled W-45. I'm always willing to learn, so it looks as though I have more research ahead of me. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
See if that car will run
They are currently working on that. It has sat a long time and the owner is taking his time so he doesn't hurt the engine by hastily trying to start it. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
One of the best cars ever! Next to the Chevy SS 454 And the Buick GS 455 And the Pontiac GTO!😊
It definitely has A body performance pedigree! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
That car is screaming RESTORE ME!!!!
Hopefully the 455 will be screaming by the summer! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
I would not worry about the original engine or heads. The Vaunted Oldsmobile D and F heads did not flow any better than the E heads you have or C heads or any of the early big valve olds heads, they are cool as they are what came with the car but there is no performance difference. The original block is nothing different than what you have there except for the casting numbers, again no performance gain. Being that it no longer has the original engine in it, I would just build a nice street engine with a nice modern cam, either ported steel or aluminum heads, a set of good headers, and probably a repo W-30 intake so that I could adapt a repo 70-72 OAI cold air setup (I would definitely need to have that). Restore the car and enjoy it. To make this car correct is way too expensive and you will probably never get your money out of it. Restore it, make it nice and if later on you find all the correct pieces you can put it back to the way it was. Haggerty list a #1 Hurst Olds at 75K and a #2 61K getting all the original parts would probably cost over $30K, heads, block, intake, carb, distributor, OAI box etc... not worth it IMHO.
That's some good insight. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Nice northern calif 🇺🇲
The 455 Buick Gran Sport would smoke it.
It would have to wait a year to try. 😉 Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Nice 🇺🇲
Sure is! Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Clean it and leave it alone,it’s only original once.
I believe that's the more long term plan right now. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Thanks for the video. Amazing they're still out there, especially a '69 H/O. Back in the day we called that a Mail Box Hood. If I remember correctly, the original TH400 would have had a special Hurst ID tag on the side. Quite a big dollar project for a H/O lacking the original "Money" block. Peace.
I'm not sure about the I.D. tag. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
@@musclecarsyndicate An original TH400 would have a metal tag mounted on the right side of the transmission stamped "OH". It would also show "69 "for model year and the sequential serial number for the transmission. The left hand side would be stamped with the same partial VIN as on the engine block.
@skinnerhound2660 Thank you for the information.
Whoever owns it. It would be cheaper to buy an all restored one before restoring this one back to factory perfect all original condition. Paint this one and get it back to running condition.
That's usually the case. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.
Nice find i have a plastic model of one these cars would hang with any big block down the quarter mile
That's awesome! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Get a decent wire brush and scrub the differential tube a few inches from the right hand side facing the front of the car close to the brake line holder. There's a code there that will tell you what the application was. The Hurst /Olds had codes specific to it. This car has disc brakes and the W-46 H/O option so the code should read 4400 JL2 WITH W46 C D SH 3.23 42-13 SJ 3.42 41-12 SL 3.91 43-
Awesome information! Thank you. Maybe if I make it back over there, I can check that out. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment .

I'd love to get my hands on this car and restore it to its glory.
I think the line is forming rather quickly.😆 It's certainly a worthy candidate. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
Vacuum reserve canister under trunk lid. It's for releasing the trunk when car isn't running = via vacuum. Release button is in the glovebox. The other '69 Hurst Olds convertible just sold for $350K. It was north of the little town of Madrid. Live nearby, had no idea all those years.
I never knew the car existed either until I saw the auction listing for it back around May of 2024 or so. I then saw it at the Madrid car show in September and then again at MCACN in November. It's was pretty cool, and I wish I could've got a detailed video on it with all of the vintage pictures and memorabilia. Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment.
Nice car, shame it's missing it's soul. That's what makes all the difference . It still can be enjoyed regardless just going to cost some cash to get the basic mechanicals up to driving condition .
I agree but there's some gray area on the cars history after the first owner. I'm guessing it just got ran hard and blew up and the 70 455 was a suitable and available replacement. It will be cool to see it back on.the streets as is though. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.
@@musclecarsyndicate Vehicles of this nature not having their original engine happens . The car has some value and once drivable again the enjoyment of getting it going and putting some miles on it makes up for it. The '70 442 engine is about the best replacement your going to find, it could be rebuilt to '69 Hurst Olds specifications, Heads, cam ground to the factory lift, duration and lobe angle, intake and carburetor and other parts. At least it's getting something done instead of collecting dust. Owner should be enthusiastic about it but be careful original old parts on the rest of the car ain't pretty but they keep it as honest as it can be.
That "can" on the trunk latch is in fact a vacuum controlled remote trunk release. The push button should be mounted in the glove box.
Makes sense. The glove box door wouldn't open but I did research it more after I made the video. Thank you for watching and dropping some knowledge in the comments.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 : WOW the dollar amount to bring it back ! Anyway , what ever I would clean 🕸️💩🪣🧽🧼 all save as much as possible ! It original only one time . Best of luck to the new owner 🍩☕️👀😎👍 !
It would be costly, like you said, to bring it back to factory fresh. There's plenty in that condition so I feel this one should be enjoyed the way it is for now. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Such a really cool car. It'll be cool to hear some history on the car. I heard about this car setting for years until dumb luck struck. LOL Great video.
Yeah, it's way cool. Thank you.
What a rare peice of history. Deserves nothing but a top rate restoration.
Great looking project! One of my all time favorite muscle cars!👍
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Thank you for watching and the comment! I'm still learning how all of this video creating and editing works but I think each one is a little better than the last.
I remember seeing one in my home town in a yard. This was 78' era. No motor or trans though. Great video! Have a blessed New Year everyone! 🎆🏁
Thank you for watching and the engagement. I wonder what ever came of the that car you're talking about. It was just a car then people didn't know they would be worth big money now.

confident that if I say matching numbers on the T/A doesn't mean a whole lot here especially when it's so close, that's a tri pack and that's what matters, it might be worth what $10k more with matching numbers? I mean what's the diff tween $160k and $170k, 10 grand if that? engine born on the same day, maybe what 2 hours away? 4, yea more like 4 they prolly didn't, pump those out quite as quickly as a standard run of the mill, lotta eew'n and aaw'n going on as these rolled out the door, everyone wanted to drive it off the line and park it.. thats an unreal car dood, a survivor like that? like it like em both, what no 340 wedge car? no muncy 12 bolt hemi super bee? slippin dood, really slippin . .lol lot of us owned and drove the wheels off these cars, very few of us hung onto them.. sadly .. now all the collectors have em they're out of range for most... I paid $683.00 for mint 63,000 mile olds 442 W30 in the day, hurst vertical gate, HD clutch ram air, all that, my girl at the time blew the tranny in my 69 SS nova so I pulled the M22 fine spline out of the 442 clutch flywheel the works, slapped it all in the Nova save the gate shift, she didn't like that too hard to pull the rings up with her little hands and she didn't like the olds, left the 442 where it sat, dunno who ended up with it? it sat at the apartments we lived at on 220th for about 6 months, then I saw it at the tow yard right there for a while driving to work, changed job sites and never saw it again.. mid-late 70's these cars, GTX for 500, 440 wedge GTX $500, all of em . . were dime a dozen back then.. whooda thunkit? however had she not been around destroying trannys I'm confident I would still have both cars, woulda drove em out to my parents, stuffed em in the 12 car geerash and left em there for 30 years, then they would have been worth way too much to ignore, buy.. or find .. working I didn't have time for em then..... women
Absolutely stunning
