@thepowershift You'd think it would be too much blue but it's perfect. I looked a a Go Mango T/A yesterday that has factory HRT5 tan leather interior, and it's a four speed.
The T/A's are a real stand out in the 70 Challenger line up, and this a great example. It still amazes me back in the day that people would buy these cars with blue, red and green interiors.
@LICobra I'm glad they did because I like cars with color. There's a T/A being restored right now that left the factory in DY3 Cream with F8 green interior. I look forward to seeing it done.
I agree, a 4-speed without the console is the shiz in my opinion. Beautiful cars, man! B5 blue on a T/A looks amazing contrasted with the stripe, hood, and top.
I have an N code JH Challenger too. Mine isn’t a California car but has the turn down exhaust tips too. I think only R/Ts got the exhaust tips exiting through notches in the valence. Mine has an automatic and the engine is corporate blue. I’ve heard manual JH N codes engines were orange. It would be cool if you found a flat hood for that car. These cars were rare to begin with, and over time it seems like most that survived were dressed up by owners with R/T items like the “raisin bran” hood and stripes etc. Even most Mopar guys who go to a lot of shows have never seen a big block Challenger with a flat hood and the 383 four barrel badges on the fenders. Add the manual trans and you’ve got a unicorn there!
@bradschroeder809 Awesome! What color combination? Not sure on the tips being available outside of the R/T. I have also heard that the N code automatics were painted blue and that they used a Carter carb. Four speed N codes were orange and used a Holley carb. None of my car's drivetrain is original. I'm going to keep the color combination but I may add a Shaker hood. The hood is easily replaced and I have the original trunk lid without the Go Wing that I can put back on too.
@@musclecarsyndicate mines FK5 and a convertible. If you were at MCACN this year you might have seen it there. It’s low key sort of a sleeper, therefore many there might not have given it a close look because they were distracted by the FM3 R/T convertible parked behind it! As I said before, seeing these 1970 N code JH (and BH) E bodies is like seeing a unicorn, I’ve owned my car over 25 years and probably seen close to fifty hemi cudas for every one of them I’ve spotted at all the shows I’ve been to since getting my car!
@bradschroeder809 I sure did see it! Beautiful Challenger. My wife's cousin has an FK5 70 Challenger that's an L code 2 barrel 383. He bought it brand new and still shows it. So I took pics of yours to show him. Yours will be on my Instagram and Facebook pages in the future.
This really is the single best Challenger from 1970. The only E body I prefer is the sister car the AAR Cuda. Hemi cars are worth more today due to scarcity and the ICONIC Elephant engine but back in the day when none of the future valuation stuff was known......this is the car a guy with a desire to actually drive the car wants. It can't achieve 2 barrel 318 gas milage and in a Straight line 383-440 Big blocks were all potentially faster but if BALANACED PERFORMANCE and what I think is best looking package matters.......this one was the car that captured the most of what I'd want and it gave up the least of what I'd miss in any of available choices.
Nice T/A do you think the hood has been replaced since its laying perfectly flat and not bowed from the engine heat ? Almost bought one in 1978 it was yellow but was an automatic transmission so I passed. The hood on it didn't lay flat . Thanks for the cool video. 👍
Never had a problem with BFG Radial T/As outside of the white letters turning yellow. Unless you're talking about the rollers on the purple car which are quite old.
The memories seeing these two. We took for granite those Muscle Cars back then. They were available and more coming out soon. I miss those days.
I wish I could've lived those days!
@@musclecarsyndicate The whole era and lifestyle was amazing. The Music, and simple Good times, were where the people gathered with the cars.
Stunning and absolutely amazing to see this beautiful Mopar Muscle in this remarkable original condition. What a beautiful classic Mopar

Better than any Mopar they make today.

@@mattwhaley9917 I think that's why the blue interior works so well is the fact that there's enough black to break things up.
console is easily removed
@@georgewetzel4380 True. I don't want to cut the brackets off of the floor and replace the carpet. Maybe one of these days.

@Dogboy1960 A good way to look at it. I like the word you used "balanced." The T/A and AAR are well rounded performance cars from the factory.
Start it up!
He has a short, with it started up, his 6th most recent short
I have shorts of it running but I'll do more videos in the future.
It won't start without the battery.

It's the original hood. I think it lays so flat because the springs have been off for decades.
