MAD TRAPPER OF RAT RIVER - North West Territories | Strangely Canadian
On 31 December 1931, an RCMP constable investigating a complaint about traplines was shot and seriously wounded by a trapper living west of Fort McPherson, NT. The ensuing manhunt - one of the largest in Canadian history - lasted 48 days and covered 240 km in temperatures averaging -40°C. Before it was over, a second policeman was badly wounded and another killed. The killer, tentatively but never positively identified as Albert Johnson, was so skilled at survival that the police had to employ bush pilot Wilfrid “Wop” May to track him. The Trapper’s extraordinary flight from the police across sub-Arctic terrain in the dead of winter captured the attention of the nation and earned him the title “The Mad Trapper of Rat River.” No motive for Johnson’s crimes has ever been established, and his identity remains a mystery.

MACKENZIE RIVER GHOST - North West Territories | Strangely Canadian
Переглядів 1196 місяців тому
The Mackenzie River ghost is one of the oldest tales of haunting in Canada, dating back to the 1850s, and was once widely known in Europe. Augustus Richard Peers, a fur trader and Hudson’s Bay post manager, died at 33 at Fort McPherson, in the Northwest Territories’ extreme north. When his frozen body was transported to Fort Simpson for permanent burial, a ghostly voice could be heard ordering ...

I enjoy videos of NS, but I wish you tubers would archive information regarding history due to much misleading information regarding 1800s and earlier, thanks, cheers.
Amazon/Mary Celeste??
Hello.I live at 286 River Avenue in Winnipeg Manitoba.I have felt like one of my Cats is getting on bed and look to see nothing. This block that I live in is over One Hundred years old.It must have some history 👻👀🙀.
Wow, i was just camping at the spot where Jerome's rock is located. Sure wish we knew why he was left on the shore...
I was so happy to see the great Amherst mystery in this video. I'm from Springhill and outside of Cumberland County, no one really knows about it.
So true. The Amherst Mystery has intrigued me since I was a boy. Be sure to take part in Esther Fest starting next week. Look for Esther Fest on facebook for more details.
I will be at the paranormal convention on Oct 19 and on the downtown ghost walk on Oct 21
I got a story for ya , from collingwood Williams dale area.
I would love to hear it.
My home in The Gates had a spirit. He showed me his grave on the day he died in 1933 and it was 2008. All good tho.
There's a place on bannerman ave that has a demon in it with an old lady ghost and a tall old man ghost.
Wrong about Fort Beausejour. There was a pretty large battle resulting in many casualties. Then they were cut off and found out no reinforcements were coming, they surrendered
Never heard of the New Ross ruins or Black Hole Harbour treasure. Thanks for sharing.
Great videos bud!
The fire ball of pleasent bay, Cape Breton. Back in the 60's it cam from the north along the west side of the highland mountains, in a southward direction untill it reached the mouth of the harbour, and then shoot up in to the sky
Bud, you should hear about the pirates of dover 😅
Back in the 14-1800s
I actually worked at the willow as a overnight cleaner and night audit! I was very surprised to hear that although I have heard things like that before. It had an eerie vibe for sure, but honestly I never saw anything damning. I didn't even know that story and I don't think the current owners fully did either. It is a beautiful hotel though !
Go back to the stadium job, this is shit
You probably should have specified that you were talking about the iron mines on Bell Island in the first one, since there are also very large iron deposits in Labrador that started to be mined in the later 20th century
Very intriguing.
Ouuuuuu I’m from Manitoba
I watched this just as I was finishing my lunch.... eating 3 Christie cookies.
I don't know where you're getting your history from. Probably from the same people who give us our history. But I have another story. The Vikings did not come from Norway. The Vikings came from behind New Zealand. They actually called it Greenland because they were shocked, to see Greenland. I called them The Flintstones with red hair. Very mean. And they feed off fear and add blood. After mingling with the inhabitants, their seed spread. I see clusters in Ireland, first learned the word, became hypnotized by the phonics. We were originally telepathic white beings. We can manifest into creatures add Dark Shadows. It depends on our consciousness of thought. We manifest from our own thinking. If you're watching Hollywood and suddenly think you are Batman and Robin, soon you will look like a cartoon. People are becoming disconnected from themselves. Beware of the Reds! They have no feelings. You will see them either being work slaves working like dogs and going by the book, or creating chaos.
Lies! We used to drink at St. Andrew’s Church all the time at night, and I never seen any of what you’re saying
I was roommates with the guy who made up the Selkirk Friendship Center basement ghost. He said he was working with youth and they (himself and other youth workers( posted the story online to scare them when they went into the bathroom. He said the story never went away after that lol
Except for the bed, that room shown in the Fort Garry Hotel segment looks like something out of The Handmaid's Tale.
Check out the Mary Ellen Spook Farm in Antigonish, NS.
You forgot grays Island cemetery
@@haleymcnally5066 was just their a couple months ago.. and I took pics ...also....her head is back!!!😲
@@stardustshorty Missing for over 2 decades then returned, strangeness 🤔.... I grew up on Salem road, I only had to look out our front picture window for a view of Greys island.
We stayed at the Fort Garry, the third floor though, we were filming the room just because it looked cool and in the video the chandalier kept flickering on and off but to our eyes nothing was happening. Then I was walking to the vending machine and was alone but could clearly hear foot steps following me.
Very interesting! Thank you very much from north Québec!
Lutz is pronounced LOOTZ ....

It is not Manipogo, it is Mishebishu The Water Panther.
One should not forget to mention Mary Ellen Spook. I hope you have or will cover this fire spook of Caledonia Mills Antigonish County.
Loving your videos.. but do you have a video about Cape Breton? That’s where I’m at and there’s so many strange stories around here, some I know from my own experiences actually.. 😅
The Saint Andrews church is haunted. If you run around it 3 times at midnight you get taken
LOL, If only there was some way to test that claim...
The Fort Gary murder was on the 13th floor. 1302. That’s why there’s no 13th floor anymore. It goes from 12-14
Most old buildings don't have a 13th floor out of superstition. I've rarely seen an elevator/building with an actual 13th floor
@@OmegaSpecter87 The Fort Gary doesn’t have one because a girl was murdered in room 1302. Supposedly you can hear voices in the room. 1402 now
Fun fact, Manitoba is the Catfish Capital of Canada
Canada needs more guns. Guns for everyone I say!
Have you read Bluenose Ghosts? It's a classic for NS ghost stories.

From SW NOVA SCOTIA, enjoyed these stories. Look forward to others.
Thanks. I knew about staying off the black rock at Peggy's Cove. Bad undertow. A sudden wave with no warning. Its an old province that has had time to collect folklore and bump in the night stuff.
The reversing falls IS in Saint John not near Saint John. It is literally between the North end and west end of the city. I live in Saint John New Brunswick
