Testing the Snugpak Stratosphere in heavy rain
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Місяць тому
Testing the Snugpak Stratosphere in heavy rain. The met office issued a yellow rain warning and it rained all night long. I attempted to spend the night in the snugpak hooped bivi to see if i would be comfortable and dry. I used the snugpak jungle bag and a cheap mat from amazon on top of the Thermarest Z-Lite SOL mattress. My pillow of choice was the Thermarest compressible pillow. the rain ca...

Wild Camping halloween Hunting For The Screaming Monk Of St Benet's Abbey
Переглядів 2102 роки тому
A Halloween wild stealth camp near the ruins of St Benet's Abbey in the Norfolk Broads. It was a couple of nights before Halloween during a period when rumour says you have a chance of seeing the screaming monk, the ghostly apparition of a monk named Esric. I was joined on this camp by Hazzard outdoors and we found a lovely little spot by the river Bure. unfortunately we didn't get any footage ...
Very nice kit!
Thanks!
@ You are welcome!
Awesome kit. Everything is very useful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Definitely not for me after seeing this, I think I'll stick to a small tent that has ventilation.
I've always liked the idea of these but would probably find it too claustrophobic, especially with a mat raising me up by an inch or two.
It’s very stuffy and claustrophobic in the summer but wasn’t so bad in cooler weather. I’ve just purchased the geertop bivi that has the mesh that covers the full opening so will use that with just the mesh zipped shut and a tarp for cover.
I prefer the Geertop bivy, which has another pole at the foot end, as well as a vent down there, both of which give better ventilation than the Snugpak, and a much drier experience!
Yes I’ve just ordered one! Thank you for watching 🙂
No doubt some wet got in with the conditions, but I think at this time of year it's a lot of condensation for that type of material.
It's all condensation mate and damp, from when things get cold at night. It's the down side of non breathable. It's only really a summer option.
I was thinking of getting one of these a while back, but really enjoy my OEX Sallamanda hooped bivvy. Only downside is I have recently broke the pole and it's a crawl in style, which can be better in rough weather, as only the front inner would get wet. The colour of mine has always annoyed me, but it is a mountaineering product I suppose. Unless I come up with a fix for the pole, I'll either get this or the Dutch army as a replacement. Cheers for showing us around the bivvy 👍
Make sure you watch part 2 before deciding. I’ll be posting it this Thursday at 6pm 👍 hope you’re good mate? Be good to camp with you one day soon.
@@DazBurbyUntamedWild all good here mate. Should be up the broads again next year, so if you're about I'll let you know 👊
I like the Geertop bivi, which - as you said - has better ventilation, and is cheaper. Look forward to your follow-up video!
Thank you
I've always liked the look and idea of these, but it's the size that's put me off. I guess I'll get one eventually 🙄
Yes it’s not something you would want to hike up a mountain with but brilliant for a days fishing or canoeing and for a day camp.
@@DazBurbyUntamedWild You can get smaller ones; the trekker is a good size.
@@Keith-zx9ey I had a little look at those, looks perfect for my little kayak trips. Cheers mate
Nice video and editing mate and nice Ben Orford knife 👍
Thank you
Best accessory to go with it is a little football pump for getting the fire going.
That’s a great tip! Thank you
I bought one when they were talking about rolling blackouts after COVID, trouble is there's hardly anywhere in my area you're allowed to use one. Having said that having been a scout and outdoorsman most of my life I love the thing, I just need to make a box for it to live in in my boot.
No bullsh1t straight forward video. Well done mate
Thank you
Good job on clearing the fireplace, imagine the flack you'd get....😅
Always nice to see how it’s done All tips and tricks for fire lighting Many thanks Jeff

Thank you 😊
You have a drone already
I do indeed mate
Very nice video, thanks.
Great first video mate. Thanks for the mention and link 👍
Nice video, great story. That screen at the end nearly deafened me, 🤣🤣 Cheers
Thank you 😊
Gotta say buddy, that was amazingly well edited and put together and framed. For your first ever video it's unbelievable. I do everything on my phone but that's no excuse, I don't put nearly this amount of work in, so you deserve to go far.... far far away from me so you don't make my stuff look so rubbish! 🤣🤣
Cheers buddy. And thank you for giving me the push and encouragement to finally post my first video. Really appreciate it. Look forward to your video, was a good camp ⛺️
@@DazBurbyUntamedWild wouldn't bother watching mine. After seeing yours, mines pretty pants....
