I played MSFS2000 in 1999. I was put off by the graphics, since I was playing great looking games then like Unreal Tournament and Gran Turismo 2. I told myself that someday MSFS will have great graphics and more of the world, and when that happened, i'd get back into it. I couldn't imagine it would look this good, have the whole world, and be in VR.

I remember when MSFS first came out I was so excited and enjoyed playing regardless of the ancient graphics of the time. And now, in VR I can’t help but be in awe ever time I put on that headset in MSFS2020. Younger crowd will never know just how far flight simulation has come.

Please need help!!! I use FS2020 in VR: HP Reverb G2. I had EVGA RTX 3080 TI 12GB video card, figured out my FS2020 settings the way i like, also using OpenXR. All the way i like. and in not busy airport i could get up to 40FPS, in busy up to 30. I just replaced video card with PNY RTX 4070 TI Super Verto Overclocked triple fan 16GB. I kept all settings the same and made sure they are the same. With new card i get exactly SAME FPS!!! Not even 1 more FPS - just same FPS!!! :( Why? I do not want to lower my setting to get more FPS because i can do same thing with my old EVGA RTX 3080 TI card and just return RTX 4070 TI Super. Seem like RTX 4070 TI Super is Garbage. My CPU is i5-13600kf, RAM DDR5 32GB, SSD drive, Windows 10. All drivers are up to date. If i can't get better FPS with RTX 4070 TI Super using same simple settings then what is the purpose in new card. I do not want to see if i get better FPS in standard 2D SF2020 mode because i believe will probably. I used 3D mark to test old card and then new card and i got more FPS with new card - but that was all 2D not VR. Thoughts?

Thanks but not so easy... Why do we always need to download a program that takes a little more life away from the system? OPENXR, WMR should have this built in does it not? v This Did not work and another useless quick fix to get followers. The STOP GETTING PEOPLE HOPS UP! THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!! Hey, boss! The script works great for me, but I'm running into the issue that when I hop into VR, my monitor resolution and graphics just go to garbage. I have dug through every setting and google search I can think of. Any thoughts on how you get your monitor image so clear?

Okay, I did all this, but how do i get it to work? When I have msfs open and in VR mode, how do I activate the full screen mirror?

I hope this gets out to everyone that reads this, IF you are having problems with your VR having stutters, lags, or other problems, TRY THIS, get into your game or sim, like normal, Start your VR Does not matter what Headset, When you are in your VR Games or sim, TURN OFF YOUR MONITOR, Because all Your resources will go to the VR headset and not shared between Your VR headset and your Monitor. Try this, You might be surprised just how better your VR is. Then when your done playing, take off You Headset and turn your Monitor back on, YOU DO NOT NEED YOUR MONITOR ON WHEN YOUR IN VR.? Save the resources of your Video Card to your VR headset. "Comment me back if you see a difference"

I uninstalled msfs 2020. I have a reverb g2 rtx 2070 and i7 8750 and no matter the lowest setting cant get over 20 fps. I fly dcs at 45 to 50 fps. I have soent weeks trying to optimize msfs and it just shouldnt be that hard to make this sim flyable.

@fly_with_nick Hi - I have done everything you've outlined in this video and it works great. The only issue I'm running into however is that I use OBS to capture my videos, and when I use AutoHotKey to resize the MSFS 2020 window, OBS shows the 'left eye' section of the MSFS 2020 window... but it captures the top half of the screen display, rather than the center (which is where I'm actually looking in VR). This makes the videos look like I'm looking up at the clouds the whole flight. How did you manage to capture the center of the screen in OBS and not just the top section of the displayed window?

Vast improvement upping the resolution in the toolkit with my HP reverb. So much more clear! I didnt think it could surpass the original stock resolution without causing issues...Thankyou!

MSFS is completely broken in VR. I have seen many with unplayable experiences with a freaking 4090. I can run DCS like my system even isn't a concern but MSFS is a slide show. Have tried everything, something is fundamentally broken.

I tried several but the MSFS screen does not fill up the entire monitor.My mouse have lag problems when I have my headset on trying to interact with buttons. I think that's because MSFS does not fill the screen...And I just can see my left eye when streaming.

dumb question: aren't you ever getting motion sickness from sitting still but see everything in the game moving?

Things probably changed lately because I can't get near this at 30 fps with a 13700K undervolted and OCed (5.6 Ghz up to 3 cores) and a 3090 (undervolted, OCed on mem only). I'm not even close. At 80% scale I'm still GPU limited on the ground at like 22 fps. I'm really struggling with my setup, it's not even fun anymore. Glad for all of you guys out there who look like they're having fun, I'm not.

This looks great but I've spent the last hour trying to get this to work. CTRL F5 isn't doing anything, window isn't being stretched. Any ideas of have you updated this for V2 of AHK?

I have a 3 screen set up thats 5120x1440. When I increase the res for the single eye, it only increases the black bars on either side and not the image itself. What res do I beed in the script to make this work?

Im new to all this and pc sims. Ive had made by scan a 3xs 4090 system with 7800x3d and 32hb corsair. G2 reverb, 1440p monitor. Im runing DCS (digital combat simulator) i have windows mixed reality, steamVR, and also OpenXR toolkit.. and im struggling to get what i want for full realism in vr.. any help much appreciated with openXr toolkit etc.

If you want functionality on fight jets DCS is the way to go.

dude you have no idea what you are talking about. Did you also make your own computer? Because it seems like you did a terrible job. If one core is maxed you shouldn't be hitting thermal limits period. You also shouldn't be "helping" others because you are full of bs.

I tried these settings and I believe they work for you but they don't seem to work for me at all. My sim runs buttery smooth at 4K on a 5800X3D and 4080. When I set my VR settings to Ultra and just lower the world detail, I get a smooth VR experience (using DLSS Quality or Performance doesn't make much difference in either quality or performance). But when I increased the OpenXR resolution it turns into a slide show, and setting DLSS Performance didn't make it usable. I tried lowering the MSFS display settings to what you have in the video, and it looks like absolute crap. Maybe I gained a few FPS but not enough to make the extra resolution worth it. I went back to Ultra and restored the OpenXR resolution to default, and it's back to smooth VR. I don't understand how you get such a drastically faster frame rate simply by setting DLSS Performance. I'll note that I left my PC settings at Ultra, I can't change those because I don't want to use VR exclusively. Can you confirm if lowering your PC settings is really required?

You made my day , i have a 3060 Ti and i have to turn down the resolution a little and i turned brightness a little higher but fore the rest i have your settings and it feels like i have a new game , amazing thankyou

It is really hard following you as you click the circle the cursor around items on the screen without doing a good job describing why and what you are checking and unchecking.
