On May 20th, 2024 a slow-moving storm dumped a significant amount of hail on the town of Webb, Iowa. Some of the hailstones were the size of apples! Hail fog forms when the cool hailstones accumulate on the ground, cooling the air just above the ground to the dew point and causing fog. While hail fog typically forms in a low-wind environment, this fog was moving across the ground at an impressive rate.
