A Gemini 3000 is the perfect starting sailboat. Very easy to sail, stable, only need two feet of water and can retract the rudders in case run aground. Failed the preparation test for hurricane IAN. Living in a catamaran sailboat. Not always sunny

The best idea I have had until now, has been inviting some friends to check how I prepared my boat for riding the hurricane. I learned new things I do not want to learn by trial an error. Meet and reconnect with some friends. The weather will be nasty in a couple of hours so maybe I wont post new full videos in few days. I will try to post short live videos though.

    • @hereandthereSailing
      @hereandthereSailing 6 місяців тому

      Yo creo que los equipos que se venden actualmente que son parecidos al que se ve en el video y que son en principio para diferentes cosas , entre esas casas, funcionan perfectamente para botes o casas, pero Starlink cada vez esta viendo como hace mas dinero de cada segmento de mercado. Por ejemplo cuando yo lo compre y filme el video, podia usar el sistema en alta mar por un precio, despues dijero que ya solo se podia usar en tierra y el maritimo costaba por GBytes y en general las cuentas de los que lo usan son decenas de veces mayores. Desde eso yo solo lo uso cuando llego a kilometros de la playa. Funciona bien para mi. Por eso hay que leer las reglas de Starlink. Yo uso el roam basico. Pero en el pais que me encuentro en este momento no me deja ver los precios de los planes.

The starlink also helps a lot reducing the risk due to the information I have all the time in desert areas. I use risk management processes and matrix to reduce the probability and impact of the most important risks. I create plans also. Those helped me to resolve most of the problems I had. I think the problem came from thinking that sailing against the wind and the current in that area would be a little bigger than in Bahamas. But those were a lot stronger and harmful. I have a lot to learn.

    We are in the same situation. We're in Eleuthera heading to Exumas. We dont know where to go after.

      Eleuthra is super nice. I loved the area near Dunmore Town. Dont miss the turtles. It looks like George Town will be super fun this weeks due to the regatta activities

    great to know RV version covers carribean arean(Bahama at least), not sure if RV version will cover whole carribean area. Starlink instructs that the coverage is North America(US/CAN/Mex). power consumption is not an issue, tested it in my RV, it is around 30-40w per hour, except system booting. using solar to charge batteries should be enough.
