    Chasing tools? I'm guessing chisel like tools that splits steel to separate it as desired. I'm enjoying learning. I've blacksmith for 5th year but finally got advice and trying Parks 50 oil and was told it's better and be noticed. Thanks for helping me learn it's a hobby for myself and very rewarding with benefits. Taking time is the way we master our Looks like something I want to copy thanks

    If you want to remove zinc from your hardware, just dip it in muriatic acid. All precautions for using acid applies. Do this OUTSIDE. I cannot emphasize that enough. Don't care how well your shop is ventilated. Do it OUTSIDE. That zinc will disappear almost immediately. Then dip the hardware in a solution of 1 tbsp of baking soda/1 gal water to neutralize the acid on your pieces. Zinc can also be burned off. Square head lag bolts would look better on your project, by the way.

    Rebar is mostly recycled steel, I’m told so it’ll be an unknowable mix I believe? The large diameter is normally higher quality used for DOT and larger structures thus the grade is specified in contract specifications.

  • @TheDuckofDoom.
    @TheDuckofDoom. 14 днів тому

    No real way to guess at the alloy. Most rebar for the past 30 years is just random pieces of old ship chopped up on a beach in India or Bangladash and rerolled in a makeshift workshop.

    Did you preheat the oil? because most oil hardening 'tool' steals prefer being quenched in 80° Celsius oil. Like the O1 tool steel or W-Nr. 1.2510 in Europe.

    Ok some people get free or nearly free. Many people have to buy but sometimes prices vary greatly.If you don't get a bargain just buy known steel and little bit costly but you also learned more that can be repeated. Thanks good job

    i took an old hammer and cut lines with my angle grinder in the face of it and i use it to give a wood grain texture that may have looked pretty cool in the stick part of the handle. i really liked the leaf that you made i will have to try that the next time i make a leaf heck maybe tomorrow i'll do that style leaf.

    first time here, now you have the rivet setter and the known size of it, if you weld a round tube to the rivet block where you make the rivets to act as a header guide, wouldn't that make sure the rivet head stays dead center to the rivet shaft hole therefore your rivet heads are always inline with the rivet shaft

    I've been a single burner model owner for over two years now, don't have the issues you've mentioned. The refractory cement-did you fully follow the instructions? Correct ratio of water to cement? Cure it in the way listed exactly? Mine never fell apart like yours has, I've done one touch-up to get some K-wool spots recovered. I use mine almost every weekend. Forge welding-are you covering both ends? Wide open like that will never get hot enough for forge welding. Use firebricks to cover one side, and either make a sliding firebrick door or a metal movable door. Gotta trap that heat in.

    • @solidsteelironworks
      @solidsteelironworks Місяць тому

      I followed the directions to the best of my abilities and some of my issues im sure is elevation for the forge welding and humidity on the refractory becoming wore out so fast

Check out " 9:26 Asia Gardening Hoe" Two improvements I've added. 1 perhaps I've built the first Asian Garden Hoe at least I've never seen on the market but only saw the handle around 11 inches.. Mine uses a standard garden hoe handle . It's important to get the angle properly.( If you decide to build just give me a reply I can get the angle measure. Second I've built several for my wife she's left-handed and hers is a left hand model she finds it much better for herself
