Forging My First Integral Bolster Knife

  • This knife was made from 3/4" coil spring. this is a challenging project because of the hammer control required to forge the knife, but I really enjoyed the project let me know what kind of handle you'd put on it. Thanks for watching!! #blacksmith #bladesmithing #diy

    Nicely done, came out great. Not the best material for a knife but great for practice. Most all coil springs today are 9260 material and Leaf springs are 5160. The leaf springs are a better choice for a knife. But you need to watch for micro cracking from springs that have had heavy use and use proper heat treatment.

    Damn nice job, dude. You make it look easy. Great spine thickness and very straight too. I learn just listening to you. And a dark cherry wood, chunky handle.

    Very nice. A wood epoxy hybrid would look pretty sweet. Thanks for the video
