    Love it guys. I think an important distinction is “when” to add speed w this feel. Right as momentum is about to force your thumb down (another important part, not you, momentum) you can add speed, just like pushing a kid on a swing to get them higher. Feeling the thumbs go up and down is the hinge then the rehinge is the key to my golf swing. Good stuff guys.

    Assuming center strikes Face Angle needs to be 1/2 of club path to hit quality shots. Example a club path of 4 would need a face angle of 2 for a push draw. The more loft the club has the less the difference between face angle and club path matters. It’s why you can hit a bigger hook with a 5 iron than a sand wedge. Basic d plane stuff. If you have a club path of 5 with a face angle of -2 the ball is starting left of target and hooking left of green.

    This is a great movement I discovered on my own and did not pay any attentin to it. However this early presssre in the left front foot does not only cause an inside takeaway it also leads to thrusting pelvis and head closer to the ball during backswing. Great video- again its all about when those movements happen in the swing, rather then restricting it. Cheers

    I viewed this video yesterday. I went out and did what you instructed about the thumbs. Making great contact like never before. Night and day difference. I do have a question regarding the angle of the bottom of my club. When I put my thumbs down, my hands move a little more away from my body. My arms and club are more in a straight line. And not much angle from arms to club. This tends to have the toe of my club pointing down and the heel up. It is no longer level to the ground. Occasionally the toe catches the ground and turns my club. Is the toe supposed to be pointed down when I have a grip with thumbs down? Or am I pushing my hands too far from my body? Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    hi but how do you account for all those pics of many great golfers extending fully after impact and then the right forearm rotating over the left ? that is imagine the emblem on the glove on the left hand facing forward at 9 o'clock position but has ;disappeared' under the right hand at 3 o'clock position. cheers

    • @AltaViewGolf
      @AltaViewGolf 3 місяці тому

      We find in our lessons that controlling the face angle (the face to path metric in Trackman) is easier to do when your focus on upper arm rotation around the body and not forearm rotation. Yes - there are many players historically that did a very strong forearm rotation through impact. But if you look at a player like Max Homa or Xander Schauffele I think you will see how they do what we discuss here.

    • @kmrk4055
      @kmrk4055 28 днів тому

      @@golfgreats5527 I don't think that's what happens because the first thing that happens in the downswing is a lateral move to the front foot and this puts a lot of pressure on the front foot, that lateral move is effectively the push off from the right, again it's a misapprehension of what we think we see as opposed to what is actually happening. Because at that point you can no long push off the right, or there is point in doing so, because most of the weight is now on the left, the push is therefore off the left thrusting the left hip back. It goes something like, back swing, lateral move forward, pressure is now forward on the left foot (and you should really feel that) thrust left hip back whilst rotating. Look at Scheffler, it is not possible to push off the right and have his right foot go behind his left like it does if there were a push off the right, it's about the sequence and we amateurs are almost always wrong about what it is we think we see as opposed to what is really happening. Do this for me. Take your stance, do your back swing move laterally a little ways (say four inches approx) to put a lot of pressure now on that front foot. (That is where the power comes from) If 80-90 per cent of your pressure is now on the front foot as it should be, what is the point of pushing off the right foot? Scheffler's right foot goes behind or in the direction of behind his front foot because of the push being not off the right foot but off his left foot after the lateral shift. Try it. Try pushing off the right and the try moving the right foot forward in front of the left, you're going to stand up. They can only stay in the shot because of the left side push. There is no real push off the right it's one of the many myths I've had get my head around because literally nothing was how I thought it was.

    Is this based on a Square Stance with the Shoulders creating the Path?

    • @AltaViewGolf
      @AltaViewGolf 4 місяці тому

      Not sure I fully get the question here - Trackman doesn’t see anything about your stance or shoulders - it is only measuring the club and ball. So nuances of how you rotate the trunk and arms are going to of course impact the club motion. But ultimately Trackman itself doesn’t care what your stance is.

  • @user-lj2jy1rm1x
    @user-lj2jy1rm1x 4 місяці тому

    Nailed it. 99% of instructors describe this incorrectly. Lateral shift is a positive push off trail side towards the target. However, it must be done in conjunction with other forces which ‘brake” it and stops us continuing towards the target (body in motion stays in motion.. bla bla bla). It’s why a lot of us ams can’t hold a balanced finish. The balanced finish is not just to look pretty, it’s affirmation that all the forces in the swing are balanced. Getting them occurring in the correct sequence is key, starting with lateral. Great video, Tx.

    Great point in shifting laterally to the front foot and not forward and down. I was doing that and it made it harder to have good contact with the golf ball. I have always felt stuck in the golf swing on coming down and now I know why. If I don't shift my weight laterally and open up my front hip there is no where to go except over the top or do an immense amount of side bend on the right side to get the club on the ball. • @AltaViewGolf

      Here is a better visual I believe - What you see in an elite player is by the time the lead arm is parallel on the way down that is the maximum vertical pressure on the lead foot. So the shift and rotate forces have peaked before that. This video will give you more details - ua-cam.com/video/zBjnqkmqMSo/v-deo.html
