It is evident that Liszt was fond of Schubert’s lied Die Forelle, having written two versions of it. This is the revision of the version shown in the previous video. It is much simplified from the first version, as many Liszt pieces with multiple versions are. Liszt still states the melody once more before the fish is caught.

Richard Wagner wrote the Dresden version of the opera Tannhauser in 1845, with help from fellow composer Ferdinand Hiller.
