Liszt - Widmung von Robert Schumann, S.566 (Banowetz)

Liszt’s famous transcription of Robert Schumann’s Widmung has been praised as one of the greatest solo piano transcriptions ever written, performed many times all around the world. This piece was originally a love song, presented to Clara Schumann on their wedding. Friedrich Rückert‘s original text quite well fitted the occasion this piece was presented. This piece also has an earlier draft catalogued as S.566a. It is played here with well shaped phrases and lots of passion.
