I feel your pain brother I moved in the my wife’s old quilting shop and a whole lot of her quilting stuff old sewing machines so I am having to do my thing in the middle of her stuff but I have made it work but I can’t spread out like I need to… I am beginning to think we are both hoarders lol

When I initially started watching this is almost felt like a parody.. but it took a serious turn and while watching got me looking at my shack .. I too need to take a deep dive and go through all that i have inherited from my dad, what I've purchased and used and what I've purchased, built, thought about building and just haven't used or finished. thanks for sharing your struggle.

Congrates on the tranformation. Having only been the hobby for only a few short years, I can understand how easy it is to keep stuff that you think you'll need in the future. For me, I have to really think things through when considering the purchase of any new piece of gear no matter how small it may be. As someone who has a small space carved out in the livingroom, I always try to keep myself in check. So, what I decided do at the outset, is that whenever I buy soemthing new, I get rid of anything I no longer use no matter how I feel about its future use and as for organizing, all my radios are mobile and mounted in 6U a rack mount case for that I can pull whatever radio I need for Field Day or any outdoor even and pack it in a Apache case. This with the help of a Walmart shelf and plastic containers, I'm able to manage it fairly well. In short, I try to be a ham radio minmalist, if there is such a thing.

Its hard to do because as you find those forgotten parts, you recall the idea or project that you bought them for...an totally censor the fact that you haven't done anything with it.

I feel your pain. The room I use for my hamshack/office/gun room/etc needs to be twice the size that it is. The entire perimeter of the room has stuff around it, and there's a huge L shaped desk that juts out into the floor space as well. Our hobbies quickly turn into obsessions LOL. Great video!

Clearly the size of the ham shack is the issue here. The nerve of someone with a house full of cupboards, closets and probably an attic or basement calling someone else with 8x12ft to work with a hoarder. 🙄

Do you know the difference between a collector and a hoarder? Yeah me neither, I'm not a hoarder...I'm a collector. BUT seriously. I have a rule. I keep things for 3 years. If I don't use them in that time they get donated, gifted, or trashed.

I'm not sure she gets it, or maybe she's a really good actress.

If you could see the mess of stuff I have accumulated over the past 25 years with different hobbies. This is an inspiration to get my butt in gear to sift through all of it and pair down and sell stuff to build upon my savings and gain space.
