    Nice angle, I think its not just Judo especially, people who grew up in an olympic sport are way easier to train. They can accept way better the role of the coach, trainer, sensei etc. With people who train only BJJ often, especially ones who startet to train as an adult, its often a power struggle. "If you think you are better than me why do you come to my classes?" And the other point is slacking, I see so many BJJ guys, losing time between techniques, drills, because they are slacking. You dont need to go full sprint on everything but I miss the aspect of yeah Uchikomi, keep the movement and reps going. I miss training with the judo club next door, german national level and training for high level competition as a hobby. Got out training done, did the reps, throws and hard randori we had to do, but laughed, dont wasted time and had fun...and beer afterwards...klischees exist for a reason xD

    Also, Yoga I've found to be very good for healing, and health. Though not all posture/health advice from Yoga teacher is good. Many different types of Yoga, just as there are many different types of Qi Gong

  • @Ninja9JKD
    @Ninja9JKD Місяць тому

    I would like to highlight the use of exercises which coordinate your body like the mentioned squats and lunge. Whenever standing Consider the weight alignment and direction of joints. It's very important to use correct alignments in every day life: how we walk, sit, and stand affect our health. Most people in the US have a pelvic tilt forward which causes lower back to have chronically tense muscles and a higher center of gravity. Most people head weight is too far forward resulting in a chronically tense upper back. Most people fall into steps instead of walking smoothly. The best to correct fundamental posture that I've found is Traditional Chinese Martial Arts "post standing", Zhan Zhuang. Often the very for posture taught, for good reason

  • @Ninja9JKD
    @Ninja9JKD Місяць тому

    Warm up with full range motion of for all joints. Learn to relax and breathe as injuries much more likely to happen when tension is applied at the wrong location. If you have a lot of chronic tension Tai Chi and Systema are top tier for undoing chronic tension while forming a supple body. If you want very strong tendons /connective tissues then Yin Yoga is your best friend, or a Qi Gong that focuses on connective tissues like muscle tendon change Qi Gong. In my 40s doing Judo and BJJ

    Good interview. I've been a fan of JT since he was with TLI. I think you almost have to do separate rounds where you start standing and start on the knees. I've gotten injured before when someone next to me got blast doubled and landed on the back on my ankle. The benefits of starting on your knees are that you can have more groups rolling at the same time, and you're getting more actual jiu-jitsu exchanges. A lot of the times, stand-up exchanges end up being 5 mins of people slapping each other on the back of the head and not doing much else. If you start every round that way in training, you're obviously more conformable in a tournament setting when the round begins, but you probably have less actual time on the mat doing jiu-jitsu. It's a balancing act.
