"Keanu, Kananoo, Kenuwee, Kanu-nu How do you say your name? It doesn’t matter anyway Cause you look good in a wet suit" Maybe the most clever and underrated #riotgrrrl lyrics, ever!? 🤨🤔👍
Wow... This takes me back. There were one of the best bands around when I lived in Leeds, great live!
what a song.
Amazing track
The Great Thing about this song is how, like John Fogerty, the Heart Throbs turn lyrics and musical style totally upon their heads. As "Bad Moon Rising" is a "bright shuffle" driving lyrics of Apocalyptic Doom, this relentlessly depressive lyric of disintegration within one's own self is propelled by a "girl band pop" sound trying to turn a depressive episode into a Top 40 Single...It works for me...Absolutely Brilliant Song...
thank you , i wrote this , and that means a lot x
@@TheBugbear7 I played this album a couple thousand times. I was very depressed. The words and music helped, I guess.
History's most UNDER-appreciated band. I STILL listen to them regularly and that in itself is just cool.
Kid Vinyl - Mixer : Mix FM
First band I saw at Reading Festival I guess. I got the CD with Jean Broudie on
Totally different from the single I've got. Still good tho
Show! Lennon/McCartney Forever!!!!
Best debut single ever, anywhere from anyone.
thanx for posting, underrated band
Does anyone have the lyrics? Please post if it’s available
Great 7".
Great voice. Great harmonies.
Loved Bawl. Around during the Brit Pop period but not 'of' it. Always thought they had more of a connection with the good mid to late 80's indie bands such as Close Lobsters than the 90's Brit Pop thing. All those singles were great, as were the B- sides. And of course the album Year Zero is a smasher.
I soooo love this band!
Thank You - [Devoted Weaver Fan]
One of the highlights of my 1996 CD single haul and still loving this track, in 2018!
Using Martin Hannett's talents, he's actually managed to do something slightly impossible -- that is make this "Heart Throbs" song sound slightly Joy Division-ish. Nice!!
Found a copy myself on Ebay...
I've got all three albums Great band and listened to them today This single sounds a little more 'raw' and totally fantastic
the lyrics and the musical here are pure gold
I had this 7-inch when it came out. Such an amazing band. The other song, "Salem" was incredible as well.
I wish I had got to see them live.....
me too. sigh.
I saw the Heart Throbs several times in London back in the day, the first time on the same bill as The Primitives.
Hey Dude, thanks for sharing. Any chance you could post My Star from the same album? Looking for this song for years, not available anywhere. Cheers.
RINAWADE FUNDAY hi! I don’t know if you’re still looking for the song, but it’s uploaded here ua-cam.com/video/EaR95f-HKvc/v-deo.html 😊
Fantastic!
I used to like this from the Salad Granite Statue single....... got it in my head earlier and couldn't think who it was..... finally figured it out!! Surprised it was once a Cilla Black song!! lol Never heard that version thankfully.
Cilla's version is beautiful. Don't be prejudiced. Give it a go.
#early days. When I got my mate andy to do the album design and when I worked my socks off to get them gigs. And now ,,,,
I've loved tis band for 25+ years!
Different class
Anyone have the album version?
wow! that´s a gem!
I got it!

and Wuthering Heights.
Oh my good god. I have not heard this song for 20 years, it has brought a tear to my eye. Many things in life I regret not doing, one of them is not seeing Sharkboy play live. Beautiful song, two beautiful albums in their short but oh so dazzling musical career! Thanks a million for the upload, has inspired me to locate the my CDs! :)
Jesus I saw them loads. But as support to Suede. They were shit
Slapdash Eden , ,never saw them live,,,, you could be right there ...in any case, ,nice record though,,,, and that's a merit in itself...
ditto what Max's Records said. Sadly missed. I like to sing this every time I go passed Hugo Boss in Leeds.
Wonderful song. I wish more of their music existed.
Superb, as is Fred's current band Jack Adaptor
This is an awesome track! Chest were a fantastic band :-)
Got randomly curious to see if any live footage of Bawl existed and came across this -- glad to see you're keeping the Bawl flame alive, Gil! This one and the Beyond Safe Ways EP were definitely their high point, B-sides on those two were better than most of the album tracks.
Hi Gil, This is my old band. It was strange to find it here but strange in a good way. : )
I've still got my autographed copy!
I never saw this notification, argh. Thanks for the music; I listen to this and Mystery Superette quite often.
😮
Possibly their best track. Sod it, their best track.
I love her voice!
ahh .. a great twangy song, the echo on this version is enoying...i never found out what VHF855V meant...still have the single .. lush
+Alex Webbie It was the the number plate of NJ Wilow (vocals) Ford Escort. Cheers Andy from 'Britpop Reunion' 1990s Britpop Tribute Band performing Blur, Oasis, Echobelly, Elastica, Sleeper and more. britpopreunion.co.uk/
Very nice!
There was a video for Girls Night Out on here but cannae find it anymore... arrrrghh!!
:)
Just checked discogs and yes there was a CD of it released, although like I say I have the vinyl copy of the EP. Still the first I have seen of it being available online though.
It is now on my channel. By digital copy I just meant copied into the computer. It was never released on CD as far as I know. May be wrong. My copy is a rip of the vinyl. Still excellent quality.
