Capturing my passions, Newfoundland Outdoor Shenanigans and Motorcycling. You’ll enjoy watching me learn new skills, screw up most of them but keep on coming back for more.
Rough Seas Cod fishing, a Newfoundland Screech in, Paddle Boards, and a feed of Jiggs.
In this episode, we return to my home town of Triton. This little video is packed with great content including a traditional Newfoundland "screech in" (translated in French no less!), a ferry ride to Long Island where we drink in the scenery and chomp down on my Brother in Law's mouth watering jiggs dinner. We explore what it means to be “home” as the youngins explore the bay on paddle boards. Finally, my son Jacob almost get lost at sea as he has his first experience with the recreational cod fishery. Sit back, sip your coffee and enjoy! Sure to make you home sick.

History of the SS Kyle in Harbour Grace on my Harley Davidson Road Glide and review the MSR Stove
Переглядів 571Місяць тому
In this episode, I travel on two wheels to Harbour Grace where I explore the history and current status of the SS Kyle. Do ghost ships really exist? Definitely but perhaps not in the way you think. This shipwreck was once an integral part of Newfoundland maritime history from 1913 when she was commissioned until 1967 when she ran aground in Riverhead. Her duties were varied in the half century ...

Of course there will be a boil up on the river, amazing drone footage of the rapids, and I also get to sample 10,000 year old ice berg ice in my drink compliments of "Graysons Bergy Bits" (Check out the contact information below for how you can g...

Great video Monty!! I think I need you to screech in a few friends of mine lol Love it! Love our hometown and love your family! Beautiful ❤
@@ValeriePayne-s9t thanks so much. We are certainly fortunate to be able to call Triton home
Great video and that's a nice boat.
Thanks! Its my brothers boat. It was a great but windy day on the water
Awesome video and as usual great narration. Great job with the screech in, and that's a super idea to do with kids use pirity syrup. Great family reunion for sure, Jacob was definitely getting into the fishing. Looking forward to the next one for sure , have a great week.
Thanks buddy! Likewise
Watching from North Carolina. Please explain what Newfie syrup and screech are please 😆
LOVE the question. “Newfie syrup” is a concentrated non alcoholic syrup made by Purity Products Ltd. It is a Newfoundland company that produces sweets, drinks and other products loved by Newfoundlanders (including hard bread or hard tack). Newfoundland Screech is a rum. In the 17th and 18th centuries Newfoundland traded dried codfish with Jamaica. In return they provided us rum which we named “screech” (a tongue in cheek reference to the sound the drinker makes when they taste it lol). Typically to become an honorary Newfoundlander, CFA’s (come from aways) must recite a phrase in our unique dialect, kiss the codfish and drink a shot of screech. Hope this helps. If you ever make your way to our part of the world, look me up and I’ll ensure you are made an honorary Newfoundlander 😉
@@RustyNutsRC Thank you very much for that wonderful response. Since I found Bob’s channel and then Andrew’s, I’ve fallen in love with your island and I tell people that if I’d known how beautiful Newfoundland was 45 years ago, I’d have lived there for 45 years now 💙
@@alanbierhoff6831 you are always welcomed to come !
Very nice Monty!!! Newfoundland is definitely God’s country!

Great channel and great video.. looks like a great spot to learn to fly fish and Craig Budgell is a great teacher. Ps loved the video of you making pease pudding in the mason jar
@@blairsquires7491 thanks for watching. Lots more recipes coming down soon
Well me buddy you never know. I have a nephew getting married in august in Upper island cove that I have to come home for. By the way your video in Triton reminds me the time I taught on Long Island. Neil Penney the skipper at the time took me for a skidoo trip with Reg Budgell up to his cabin. Great times.
Thats awesome! Both Neil and Reg are good friends of mine as well
Looks like alot of people were enjoying there time dipping up caplin in that area. Great drone footage. The food looks awesome bud. Take care.
@@user-qr4xg3dy3i thanks. Great couple of days.
Can't beat the homemade bread
@@AnthonyCoish that was actually store bought but not bad!
Donna and I are lying back in bed and watching this and others on your channel. Thanks for taking us away for even just a moment. Thank you! Another brilliant video!
@@rneilpeet5035 thanks buddy. Glad tou liked it
Brings back alot of childhood memories. Thanks Monty for all the great flash backs.
It was my first time getting involved in the “capelin roll”. So much excitement. Watching the little ones squeal with joy made my day. Such a great moment. Thanks Randy
I love it when the Newfoundland UA-cam guys support each other. It just goes to show that newfoundlanders are the salt of the earth.
Yes indeed. No competition just happy to see each other promoting the beauty of the province.
Great catch and cook my buddy, and you really blew me away with your kind words I really appreciate it. I always try to promote my fellow Newfoundlanders and the videos I enjoy. THANKS !! Hope you have a great weekend.
@tuckerandi absolutely my pleasure. My favourite thing about NL content is how people support one another. Great sense of community and you’re #1 in that regard. Have a great weekend buddy. Hopefully we’ll meet in person soon.
@@RustyNutsRC I was thinking the same hopefully our paths will cross soon.
Beautiful views and fun activity, and they sure are tasty done that way, yes, I enjoy watching Garry's channel also, its how I came across your name, thanks for sharing the beauty of NFLD with us.
@@NatureInspiredSnipsnSnaps thanks so much for watching. Have a wonderful summer
Such an amazing activity, especially for young people to keep such a great tradition alive and well. I myself, have never actually had a capelin before, but sure do appreciate the recipes. Indeed, Garry at Tucker and I is a fine gentleman. Take good care and enjoy the weekend.
@@wendingourway yes he certainly is! Enjoy your weekend as well and thanks for watching!
I loves fly fishin bud
Great video buddy...........The cement plant on Terra Nova river in Glovertown would be another great video
Thanks Dale! Always looking for new ideas and places to highlight.
Great video my buddy, very informative. That's an awesome stove I've had one like it for years love it, just wish the fuel line to the tank was a little longer lol. I'd stick with one channel and let people decide which ones they want to watch lol. Have a great week.
Thanks Garry, I saw it in one of your videos which is the reason I asked for it lol. You’re right about the length of the line, a couple inches longer and it woulda be fine.
We enjoy the outdoorsy videos most but like having the extra selection of motorcycle runs at our fingertips. Keep it the way it is, is my vote. Also, RE giveaway… (insert maxwell smart voice here) missed it by that much!
@@ToddRalph-u4j yup! “Missed it by thaaaaaat much!”
I love it together myself!
Great video, interesting history! Too bad she is not a museum.
Yes that would be cool. Thanks for the comment
Hi Monty, I believe the present format is working great ! Why try to fix what is not broken. Keep up the great videos. Also congrats to Mr. Coish on his win.
Thanks so much!
Love the way you’re doing it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Monty, I personally like your current format for the videos. It keeps it fresh and I like the variety. Not knowing what your next video is going to be makes it interesting and not predictable.
@@brianpenney4759 thanks Brian! That seems to be the consensus. Cheers and thanks for watching
Great video Monty. I like the format just the way you have it. Keep them coming buddy.
@@Youk709 thanks buddy! Hope to get together for a ride soon.
Hey Monty, loving the mix of content! My vote is keep on doing what you're doing! I'm digging it!
Thanks Pal. Your opinion means a lot
Great job Mont! I like both types of videos so all good the way you are doing it now!
Thanks Jarrod! All the best
Great video,as for your question at the end, I myself Ride motorcycle on the west coast,so I love to see content from other parts of the island, and of course the bushcraft stuff is also great, just like to add a comment about products you mention, it’s great to see that you buy and review the stuff on your own , not like a lot of the other channels on UA-cam, so keep them coming one or two channels why not just leave it as one. Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Non sponsored product reviews are really the only ones I really trust.
Always enjoy any historical tidbits such as this that is related to the Atlantic provinces!! Excellent stuff!!
Thanks so much for watching.
Another great video. Great history with the Kyle
Thanks buddy! I appreciate the support
I think it’s great to mix it up 👍
Thanks!
Excellent video there Monty. Always like your videos and music for the intro and outro is very easy listening . Who is the artist? As for your question to keep the two separate? I would like to see that it shows your love of nature and artistic side but, that's just my opinion.
😊
Thanks Randy especially for your comment on whether to split the content. I get my music from “artlist” so id have to check who the artist is. Cheers
Great video. I also visited the SS Kyle last year. I was pressed for time and it was to windy to fly my drone. Will try again this year. One channel works for me but I understand why you might consider two. Have fun with it.
Thanks! Its really haunting with the vegetation growth on top. It was an awesome day. First time Id ever spent any amount of time at that location.
Bacon,eggs,and beans . Tastey.
What's the song for your intro?
Ill have to check the raw footage. I pull my sound from artlist.
Great short monologue my friend.
Great video!! Looks like a beautiful river.
It really is. Thanks for the kind words
Great video, as always! I've always wanted to try salmon fishing...someday! Looks like you and Craig Budgell had a great time!
It was an amazing experience. Cant wait to gear up and try it again Cory! Good luck!
Great video Monty. Craig Budgell seems to know how to read the river for sure.
He’s one of the best in more ways than just fishing. Thanks Roy for your comment and good luck.
Awesome video, Great day out and about on the river with Mr Craig budgel. Great shore lunch as well.
Yes it was!
Really enjoying your channel, also Craig Budgell for showing you how to fly fish.
Thank you Gloria for watching. Glad you like it. Good luck!
Great video and I really enjoyed the drone footage. Craig Budgell was your teacher and he did a good job. Maybe a fish on the next trip.
Thanks for watching and your kind comment. Good luck on the draw and Im definitely “hooked” on fly fishing
Did Craig share the home rolled before the eggs?!!
He may or may not have partaken 😶
Tell Craig Budgell and your dad Corey says hi from Ontario!!
Will do!
Sharon and I enjoy your channel, keep them coming. Hopefully Craig Budgell gets us a prize!
Awesome! Thanks Todd and Sharon! Good luck in the draw.
Great video Craig budgel got lots of patience lol
