    Life is NOT supposed to be EASY ! but thats just my view. You and your wife decided to start a new chapter in your life and not afraid of the challenges lying ahead. You take the wheel in your own hand and risk some savings to not only earn a living for yourselves but also be a role model to the people working for you. Bringing in knowledge and good attitudes is guiding them to see how to uplift their own life without pampering them to depend on others for their daily bread. I salute you for that. When i finally came to retire here in 2009 the first years havent been easy until 2018 when my pension was kicking in. I have done work for others sometimes for as low as 5$ or 300 peso a day. Also ran a business with my beloved which earned just 15.000 p a month with lots of problems to overcome. But when i look back those 15 years I am happy that we came to the Philippines and we have no regrets doing so. Having a business and income here makes you more resilient than just rely on your pension from germany. In fact, i am not sure, if germany will be able to pay pensions in the future as the country is becoming poor now. Living a filled live being over 60 is the best insurance against getting sick, weak and a lonely old person. Staying busy fills every day and the interaction with other people is the best way to live. When i still lived in germany I also had backpain trouble and been overweight, even had a surgery to my spine. But now a lot of weight was lost and i didnt have any backpain in the last ten years. The way how Filipinos think and live is (of course) different from my organized german way and i needed to accept that to stop my little annoyances here and there. But with some patience, clever responses to them most troubles are not bothering me anymore. They say that its the second and third year of a foreigner in the Philippines experiencing their personal culture shock, before is gets better. This works out different from person to person. Ive seen some to go back home, some to get agressive and in trouble with the law and still others loosing themself in the bottle ending up in the gutter despite having a pension or big $$$ to start a new life here. So my advise would be to stay as humble as possible and bring some meaning into your life to keep you busy. Accept that the way of life is different here and get along with it. Some Bother like Noise from neighbors can be solve easily with some distance, dont expect to much from others and think also for the others you meet in the streets. After all we all are just humans and nobody is perfect. God bless my friends

    Goodmorning sir, I'm really happy to see your vlog all the time because that's the same business that I want to open in the Philippines. Don't worry about what people think about your complaining because I understand you, don't worry about them. I'm 35 years old and I also want to live there but my girlfriend is the one that is holding me. But I understand my girlfriend because you need to have the income there without income is going to be a really hard life, like you say. And everybody that is saying philippines is cheap they are lying because they are coming with the Europa money or the doller they are thinking that is cheap but if they are living there it's not cheap at all. And sir I can tell you that you are doing more better than all the one that is asking or saying stupid questions. God will be with you 🙏🏾❤

      @@Kalayaan_Farm You will need the equipment, permissions, exchange filters regularly, have the water tested (of course not for free), repair, a vehicle for delivery (unless you don't want to deliver, which may be possible, depending on the location). As soon as you're growing, you'll need staff, more equipment etc. It takes time. But you cannot compare the one location to the other. Other factors are competition, how much will you have to invest in advertising and so on. Just like any business.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 2 дні тому

      Age has nothing to do with the situations I'm talking about. Neither does respect. Foreigners are treated differently, no matter what age. I'm 62 - there's always much older folks at the supermarket, so why are they not shown the same or even more respect? Think again. Women only stare at older foreigners? "Hey Joe", by the way not especially respectful (but also no big deal), is only called to older people? You know the difference between me and the rest of the people in such situations. It's not the age. I'm exotic, which is nothing bad. Definition Merriam-Webster: "strikingly, excitingly, or mysteriously different or unusual". That's how people see me here, and I'm not worried at all, because I completely understand it. I just thought my observations and experiences would be interesting for others, especially those who don't know or aren't aware. And the video is exactly about what the title says: this to me is the biggest difference between living here and there. I had been warned (by overseas Filipinos mostly) about many things, all of which I could adapt to easily. This one nobody had mentioned.

    Philippine wine is a myth I guess. Most fruit are from China. Here in Bukidnon in the highland of Mindanao we produce plenty of Pineapple and vegetable to be sold to Luzon. pineapple cost here 30p/kg in the market.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 3 дні тому

      It's not real wine, you are right. But they do make fruit wine from grapes in La Union. It only has little alcohol and does not taste like real wine. Those fruits and vegetables, for which the regions in lower elevations are not ideal, are also grown in mountainous regions of Luzon. I'm not an expert on this, but always learning. I found this (apparently from 2016) on the website of the Philippine Senat: "Pineapple is extensively cultivated in the country. Large plantations on Mindanao mainly export the fruits while those on Luzon and in the Visayas supply the domestic markets."

    Should you as a operator display the results of the latest test results? How about the 5 gallon water containers used mostly for purified water? I heard, that such plastic containers shall be used only for one year to avoid the release of toxic substances into the water. Can you answer that? (Kannst auch auf Deutsch antworten)

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 3 дні тому

      We do display the latest results and I think we're supposed to. The other question I cannot answer, auch nicht auf Deutsch ;) Let me speculate: Aggressive substances may of course damage the surface of the plastic body. Since the purified water is (or should be at least) almost like distilled water, this probably won't happen so fast. The outside of the container isn't the problem here, if, then the inside, and that should not get in contact with anything but water and a sponge (and, if necessary, a small amount of dishwashing liquid, which will be rinsed out immediately) to clean them. Usually these containers are damaged otherwise after some time. If customers still want to use them, it's up to them. We always tell them when we detect a damage of whatever kind.

  • @gerdbeutler3728
    @gerdbeutler3728 3 дні тому

    The biggest and most important difference for me is the fact, that Filipinos mind their own business and dont mind much about me and my life. You can live undisturbed, no gossip about you and how you live. No stupid reaction from my kids teachers (for example), if I would be the Grandparent. Maybe things have improved in the last 20 years since I have left Germany for good and never visited ever since. My compliment for speaking proper English? Marunong Tagalog ka ba?

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 3 дні тому

      I'm a Tagalog learner who feels very old (62) to learn a new language. I'll keep trying. That there's no gossip isn't quite true - there's Marites, right? But I know what you mean. I doubt that in Germany things like envy of wealthier, more successful people etc., have changed. The worst in Germany, in my opinion, is the squealing, the denouncing of people, like for parking incorrectly (not talking about blocking a driveway or emergency lane, but wrong parking where nobody is affected at all, just because there's a sign). Or calling the police if there's still loud music at a party after 10pm (once a year). If you live in a middle-class apartment building, the neighbors will complain if you hang up your laundry on your balcony. Such things.

      @@labluechannel Thats why im not feeling homesick and enjoy to live in the Philippines now for 15 years already. I learned some tagalog in 1982 when i worked in Manila, but here in Mindanao they speak visaya and more than 10 local languages. For us foreigners we get along by understanding the basics and be fluent in english. By the way, im 72 now. Been to Linganyen once in 1982 when i was invited to the company outing. with abundant buffet lunch including three huge lechon (roasted pigs). After the prayer the management was allowed to load their plates with food and i was feeling to shy at that time to overload my plate thinking that I can go a second time if i would like to eat more. After we sat down, all the others been allowed to go to the buffet table and i was amazed about the speed, people been loading their plates. When i was finished eating, the food from the buffet was almost gone. That was kind of a culture shock to me. Same with the cottage just assigned to me alone. I was enjoying the night at the beach with others and when i returned to my room around 3 am, i saw 4 engineer from my group lying like sardines in my bed. So I grapped a pillow and dozed at the beach until the sun was dawning. What a day to remember.

    Another thing I've noticed about the people here in the province of Pangasinan at least, are their general respect for property. 1. Barely any graffiti No signs of graffiti in nearly all the places I've driven past. Unlike in a lot of Canada or USA, even in the small towns, there's markings. 2. No broken vehicle glass on the ground - Places like Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Fran etc have high incidence of theft from auto. Haven't seen that here though I'm sure it must exist to some extent. 3. No vandalism - ie: Pile of watermelons by the side of the road, and nobody uses their vehicle to plow into them for fun (unlike USA/Canada) This tells me the people of the Philippines have greater respect for others, and to me it really stands out.

    Baguio is basically a city. Nothing is grown there! 😂 It's biggest taxpaying income is ( believe it or not ) electronics followed by tourism. Highland crops such as potatoes, carrots, celery, etc., are grown in the outskirts of Baguio up the mountain trail through Benguet and Mountain Province. This is also where the gold and copper mines are.

    I’m always very skeptical as to how sterile that the blue plastic bottle are! It’s only my Filipina wife that insists on these bottles of water to be delivered! I personally don’t like it! We NEVER receive our own blue bottles back when refilled! We have our own water well. And I have installed our own water filtration system! So I think or filtered well water is MUCH more safe than these blue water bottles delivered!

      Your system very probably does not have the same level of filtration. It's rather a compromise. Your point is understandable, though - if you buy from a water refilling station, you have to rely on their accuracy when it comes to cleaning the plastic containers, changing the filters etc. You have to insist that you get your own ones back - it's interesting for us to hear how other stations seem to work. We wouldn't even dare to deliver anything our customers don't want. We drink the water from our station every day, because we know the quality is as good as it can be. We also know what's in the raw water (which is also from a well, but wells can be contaminated, there's septic tanks everywhere etc.), because we get tested regularly. So we could argue what's safer, but in the end you have to do what makes you feel the best. We all like to be in control rather than trust others.

      @ Refilling stations are R.O. Systems right? Yes, my filter system is only carbon. But my water well I drilled new myself! And it’s 140 ft deep in the deep jungle of Mindanao! It definitely NOT contaminated in any way! Septic systems are ALL about 3 or 8 feet deep! And yes, trust in ANY man or woman other than yourself will someday lead to destruction! 😊🙏🏻

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 17 днів тому

      140 ft is indeed deep! But it's no guarantee there's no nitrates, lead, arsenic etc. or radioactive substances. R.O. (reverse osmosis) is not a must, but an extra. We have various filters, including carbon, plus R.O., plus water softener, plus UV light. And it's ours, so we can trust it, as you write. But I admit we're also skeptical about other stations....

    When I'm on vacation in Pinas, I only buy branded bottled water. The reason is most filtration water store or companies skip a process in which bacteria can grow in a few days.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 18 днів тому

      Which process is that? They all should get tested for bacteria monthly....

      @@labluechannel Different filters filter sedimints or bacteria. When you skip or filters are not changed regularly, they can become saturated with contaminants, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. Many variants for bacteria to grow. Bacteria grows within days not months.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 17 днів тому

      How do you know these stations skip the process? Of course I can imagine why - the filters cost money. But not to change them regularly should cause the authorities to shut them down immediately!

      @ We check a few companies while there in Pinas & they skip process. These are not small water stations, these are companies. What else water stations! What authorities?? Give them a few Pesos & they'll ignore it.

    Your setup looks great! Having a separate space for the refilled containers is a smart idea. Maybe adding a rack could help maximize the space vertically and keep the containers off the floor. Just a thought-keep it up!

    Nice. We only use our own bottles, new customers are given 3. This way we do not have to deal with personal bottles. (except for walk-in). I see you have 4 RO's that is good. We are lucky as we have space for larger tanks. We added a large ice machine a few years ago.. and it paid for itself in less than a year. We also sell a LOT of pep 500ml bottles. Profit margin is really good for those.

      An ice machine is certainly something we are thinking about. Interesting what you're writing about how it pays for itself quickly. Yes, we have 4 RO membranes.We would have the space for larger tanks, if we ever wanted them.Most customers use our gallons which we lend them. Those who have their own are not treated differently - it's the same process of cleaning. And you are right, the bottles have a better profit margin. We sell various sizes. In our location, most people need the 5 gallon containers, though. Bottles are sometimes ordered for parties etc.

    Interesting! We've lived in Pangasinan for 3 years now, and we purchase the blue containers. When we boil the water for tea and coffee, no problems but when we drink it from the containers both of us get stomach cramps and diarhea within a few days. We have tried 2 different water stations, and we still experience the same issues. We now switch over to Summit bottled mineral water, and no problems. Does anybody know the cause? Have we not yet adapted (3 years!) yet?

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 19 днів тому

      That shouldn't happen. If it's a good system, the water should be free of any substances that could cause these symptoms. Probably it's bacteria that cause it (that's why boiling helps) - they can be too small to be filtered out. Every station has to undergo a monthly test. The tests are not very specific though (except of E. coli), and there is a threshold value which is good enough for most people. The problem could also be the water source, or the system may be contaminated (the tanks, the pipes, the faucets...). We have never heard something like this from our customers. The bottled mineral water is very expensive in the Philippines - of course these companies have even better filters etc. But we must say that our system is already top of the line. It includes reverse osmosis, a water softener, many filters and a UV sterilizer.

      @labluechannel Yeah the water source for them all here is nawasa (city water). We have a 40 micron mesh filter for our house, and it catches dirt, algae, sticks, etc. Perhaps we buy a 1 micron filter and filter our own drinking water at home. Any suggestions for home use? Back in Canada we drove a caravan and used General Ecology's Seagull IV filters, the kind used in Boeing/Airbus aircraft water systems to purify the drinking water. That worked very well. Not sure what to get here in Philippines or where to buy.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 19 днів тому

      You can get all kinds of filters for household use in the Philippines (e.g. on Shopee and Lazada), maybe not the exact brand you mentioned. We have no recommendations, because we don't need them (we drink the water from our station, where various 1 micron and 5 micron plus carbon filters are used; these filters have to be exchanged every month or every other month). For water bought from a water refilling station, this should not be necessary and it should make no difference! Otherwise the station has a problem. The tap water in the Philippines may be very different from place to place. The quality also depends on the pipes inside the house.

      You're having stomach problem because these water stations either they don't replace filters or skipping a process that allow bacteria to grow.. That's why when in Pinas, I only buy branded water like made by Coca Cola or big companies & never have problem of stomach ache or diarrhea.

    I've been living in Davao City for over 3 years and have always wondered how these water filling stations operate. I would like to know more because we have one leased to someone on a building attached to the front of our house. I would like to know how your wife and drivers can tell what containers go to which customers. Thanks for the video.

    • @PTHazel
      @PTHazel 19 днів тому

      Put a label on the container using a masking tape or some just write their names on the container itself. During the transaction, let them write their address on the receipt and clarify that you both understood where the address is if it's going to be delivered to them. Important: Pay first before filling the container/s. No haggling. No waiting for payment. No payment, no fill policy. Sell containers on the side, just in case they don't have a container in hand. Can also sell Ice/Ice cubes as an add on.

    • @labluechannel
      @labluechannel 19 днів тому

      As @PTHazel wrote, many containers have names written on them or numbers. Some have other ideas like ribbons etc. This way the customers know if they really get their container back. Most of the containers for delivery are being picked up by the drivers, so they know which one belongs to whom. After a while, the drivers know by heart where the customers live and what their containers look like.
