Переглядів 304Місяць тому
Here are some of my in ground Loquat trees. These were planted 4-6 years ago. The largest tree, oldest, flowers every year and the rest just flowered this year for the first time. Zone 7 is too cold for them to hold fruits, but I never have to protect these trees at all.

I finally have time to remove the covers of my greenhouse for the season. Winter was super nice, many days in the 60's. But 5 big trees died due to my mistake. (Please watch my previous video for details) overall, they are all doing great. I am in zone7a so I do have to cover this area up from December to April every year. thank you for watching.

I was out of town the Christmas week and was hit by two days of unseasonably cold. I was told windchill was around -15f .while this was a covered greenhouse, still very cold without heat. most of the trees died back pretty bad. I am guessing it probably was between 5-10F inside the greenhouse those two days at night, during the day it gets really warm with the sun.

Hello everyone, sorry I was so busy this year couldn't post any videos. I was out of town the Christmas week and temperature went down to around-15F for couple days. I didn't turn on the heater because I afraid may burn down the place while I am out of town

Hello, here is an update on my banana plants in zone7a after two months of removing the cover. The smaller one is pushing flower and the bigger one is about 15 feet. I cut the third one and used for cooking, but you can see it grew back nicely.

If you saw my two previous video of citrus greenhouse uncovered, here is the tropical fruit trees greenhouse cover removal. It also took me 30 minutes to remove the side coverings of this greenhouse. I will wait until next week to remove the top just incase it gets colder again in couple days.Everthing looking great. Ultra high density planting makes it looks like a giant bush of tropical fruit...

If you see my part one of this video, here is when I finally removed the cover to the greenhouse for the season. It took me exactly 30 minutes to completely remove the cover. everything looking great.

These are really healthy looking trees, congratulations? How do you fertilize them?
Very nice! Great job 👏🏼
Excellence.
Hello Jimmy I live in Northern Virginia too and I would like some cuts from your trees so I can grow them in my yard, is it possible to get some cuts? Thanks
Jimmy, your plants look so healthy.Do you use anything on them for bugs and disease? I' m also in zone 7 b and have satsumas and Meyer lemon and some other citrus. Thanks for the nice tour of your citrus.
I used to use random stuff from Homedepot, but now I do spray down the trees with water a lot. I believed this help s.
My Loquat is struggling because I have no shade in my yard. I have had it since 2010. It flowered once but the Texas freeze made them drop. I am ready to hull it.
They are hardy to drought, heat, and freezing cold. Last year, we had 2 degree and stayed below 10 degree for 10 days straight and my pineapple guava didn't died. They lost some leaves, but came back as frost over.
I have takaka and Kaiteri. I heard Coolidge is great also. Who’ll add that next. Which pinneaple guava variety do u have?
@@patrickun8655 I have two seedlings. I just ordered Kaiteri and Mammoth. How is Kaiteri to you?
How do you keep the guava mango and lemons alive in zone 7? Im in 8b-9 and cannot keep them crom dying back every winter.
What variety of pineapple guava do you have?
@@edmonpierre4562I have two seedlings. I just ordered Kaiteri and Mammoth
You need to move to a warmer climate.
They look great and did u build that lean against greenhouse or bought? If bought could u please send link? Thanks
I built the frame with galvanized pipes bought from Homedepot and cover with Solexx panels.
@ thanks
What's your best tasting cold hardy citrus? I'm in Georgia zone 8A.
They are all good, but I think the Owari Satsuma.
What state are you in? I'm in PA and want to plant some citrus outside but I am nervous. I am also in zone 7b.
I am in Springfield,VA. I do have to cover they up in November to April every year.
Impressive to see flowers on all of them Jimmy. Maybe you'll get lucky this year 🤞
Looks great, mine have died back once completely to the root and have grown back but they are not in a very sheltered spot. They are bushes now but did not flower even though the this past winter was mild. Only had fruit when I kept it in a pot
Your loquat trees are all looking nice and healthy. Great to see them flowering from seed. There is meant to be a variety that can flower multiple times of year so it can avoid the frost. That's one I would like to find.
Hopefully you'll get fruits from the loquat. Honeybees love the flowers on them. I ate the fruit in California it's very good. I grew them in 7a for years until my goats escaped and ate them. Fingers crossed you get fruit.
I'm in VA too! What part are you in? I have Feijoa, Loquat, Honeyberry, Blueberries, and Hardy Kiwi. I would love to get more tropicals like you have growing.
I am in Springfield, VA. Are your Feijoa and Loquat in ground? I also have some 14 year old Hardy Kiwi, even though they fruited for me every year, I have not get to eat a single rip fruit?
@@jimmyva4407 Yes, the feijoa and loquat are in the ground close to the brick house, south facing
At least you got a few fruits, thats better than none 👍
Great hobby.
They both look very healthy Jimmy! It's great to see they survive your winters there 👍
That's so cool! Hopefully mine will bloom next year. I have two of them but one is older and one is a seedling
Great to see your citrus update Jimmy, seems to have all recovered great this Summer 👍
Thanks, they all doing very well this year. Larger fruits too.
Very nice video sharing ❤❤
Thanks for the update Jimmy 😊
Great update Jimmy. Your citrus trees are looking incredibly healthy. And wow, those navel oranges were huge!
Thanks, yes fruits are larger too this year.
looking great... my tree not so much
Looks good
Amazing!
Beautiful garden 🙏
Thanks for the update video Jimmy. The citrus has recovered really well. My guava recovered from last year and the loquat tree I started from your seed is like 4 foot tall now
That's great! your loquat may flowers next year. All my five loquats are flowering now, but will not hold fruits as always, too cold here. Any pineapple guava in-ground? one of my trees is holding some fruits now for the first time. In ground with no protections.
@@jimmyva4407 I have the loquat inside the greenhouse 🙂 I also have a pineapple guava in the ground east facing wall. No protection for two years and it's growing well. No flowers yet.
@@GardenForaged Should put the loquat tree outside as well, will be too big for the greenhouse. Make sure to water these two a lot. They will grow very fast.
Thanks for sharing your garden. I am in Virginia. I would like to know which variety of Pomegranate you are growing?
I have a Salavatski and my other big tree is Angel Red.
Hello Jimmy Im trying to plant some pommegrates and figs and i live in Northern virginia too. Will you be able to give me some cuts of the trees so i can plant them? Thanks
What is the plastic material you use? Im trying to determine if I am going to do a similar set up to yours or millennial gardener.
that is Solexx from magagreenhouse
Hello neighbor, thanks for this video. That gave me an idea on what to do this fall for my Bajoo. Also subscribed!
Perfect! Going to copy your greenhouse, Brother. What a great skill you exemplify with your work. Maybe I will get there one day.
Bought a Meyer lemon because of your video. lol
What an amazing collection 😊
Can I have some seeds? I’m in fairfax va
I have small plant that you can have if you like.
@@jimmyva4407 can I have your contact please so I can come by to pick it up?

Nice! I have finally rooted a clemetine stem from grocer and the leaves you have confirm it. LOL! Building a greenhouse now in zone 8b for my trees.
Great update Jimmy! Your citrus are looking fabulous now!
Nice update Jim, it’s good to see all your trees are coming back well. Watching you I decided to start my own green house with many citrus everything is one season in the ground growing and doing well this weekend I’ll take my cover off
Thank you. So you can remove the cover like mine? That is so cool, good luck!
Fabulous results. Looks like your citrus trees got well established.
Amazing. Shows your dedication and skill
