Our previous home had a sump pump fail and the basement flooded due to high water table area, we had insurance that covered flooding due to mechanical failure; water heater, washing machine, sump pump, etc. We had a plumber rig up a backup run on a battery and an alarm for cresting water in the croc. Our current home has a corrugated pipe for overflow safety that takes the water somewhere… probably around the foundation?! Our pump rarely goes off from outside water but the alarm is a great suggestion, thanks for watching!

why another 100, you can get a kit for about $40 now days, used to be $20 before sears sold craftsman, then the only other thing you need to do is open up the bearing and flush it clean with break clean then repack it with grease, the whole job will cost you about $50 and 30 minutes of your time. a couple words of caution when reassembling, don't over tighten the head bolts, they screw into soft aluminum and can strip pretty easy and you need to wedge the rod when tightening the cooling fan because of you don't get it tight enough the bolt will back out and the cooling fan will start wobbling until it finally explodes......
