Taylor's torso is far more upright with his eyes forward throughout the snatches. That's what is allowing him to keep the barbell closer. Bryson is more hinged amd is looking at the ground on the way down. Just a keyboard coach's observation.

This is Thursday's Compete Workout!
Bryson your back blowing up because you are using your lower back way more than your hamstrings. If you pause your snatch vs Taylor’s at the bottom position, you’ll send your way more hunched over & he’s more upright indicating he’s using more his hamstrings to help. (Just my theory)
youre not wrong about pausing it at the bottom, i could definitely get my hips lower. But for this specific workout at least i was saying my back actually didnt blow up because (i think) i was making hip contact on the way down, where usually my back would blow up in something like this
Great that Bryson does these workouts to show scaling options. I'm an RX/Quarterfinals athlete that still needs up to up my strength a bit. I'd probably do this workout at 75lb 🤣

Is sentinel easy to sub out movements if I only have minimal equipment(Dumbbells, kettlebell, box, jump rope, wallball)? Or would that miss the purpose of the programming?
Yes they do a great job at including both scaling and substitutions in the workout notes!

The Open is a great event, but several benchmark workouts/tests covering broad time and modality domains repeated every 6-12 months is the best way to track progress over time

This is so timely. I just did a bunch of GHDs tonight and told a gym mate that he needs to use his legs on these! Thanks for confirming I actually know something. 😅 Abs don’t blow up as much like other people who don’t use their legs. 🦵🏼
GHD + ring muscle ups is usually a terrible combination. The GHD makes the ring muscle ups way too hard
This workout confirms what I, and many in the space have anticipated for quite sometime - Bryson is surpassing Taylor. His movement quality and capacity in every regard is becoming superior before our very eyes. Congrats Bryson.

This is the perfect video to get me excited for this workout later today.
I took the easy way out for Saturday's workout. For Time: Install 75" tv at 7' overtop of a 5' tall fireplace mantle solo. Not my best effort, but got it done in just under 30 minutes while also negotiating with a tiny emotional terrorist (aka my toddler) who kept trying to "help". Taylor, I should have got you to help me since your shoulders were nice and warmed up. 😂

The Sentinel programming options seem great, just as are many others available. THE problem many face when considering alternative programming options is that MOST affiliates do not allow athletes to ‘do their own thing.’ It is expected athletes engage together in prescribed programming during scheduled classes. . . which happens to be CAD at my affiliate. Many affiliates offer some ‘open gym’ opportunities between scheduled classes, but then you are stuck working out alone and losing the comrade of the community. I suspect Taylor knows all of this and his long-term objective is not individual athletes, rather, affiliate subscriptions. Hard to compete with CAD right now because it’s ‘free’ to affiliates and every penny counts for MOST affiliate owners.
Taylor, what are your thoughts/opinions in coaching the jump back for [power] cleans/snatches? watching Bryson's cleans, there was quite a bit of it, but obviously didn't impact his ability to handle the weight or his cycle rate. Is that something you'd try to fix/cue for experienced athletes, or just leave that alone and focus on the newer athletes to keep them more vertical than backwards? Curious with your take. TIA
mine is excessive, so it is something i try to fix/think about when im lifting heavy. Typically if i miss a heavy clean or power clean its because i jump back too far. If someone was only jumping back 1-2 inches it probably wouldnt be something id try to change.
