I LOST $1000 on Clarks Hill while Bass Fishing
It was with high hopes I dumped my boat in the water on Clarks Hill to start the year anddddd it really did NOT go as planned.
Started the day off catching some fish with a mixture of deep and shallow techniques. That included a few nice fish. I did lose the best one of the day right at the boat, but that's what happens when you don't change your hooks out on crank baits.
On the way to another spot, I was cruising down the lake in the middle of the creek channel. I felt a small bump, nudge, or something. I wasn't really sure what had happened. Once I set down I noticed my motor was vibrating significantly while in gear. It wasn't vibrating at all while in neutral. I figured it had to be the prop. Sure enough, once I trimmed up I noticed the prop had slung an ear! Unfortunately it's not terribly uncommon with these SHO props.
With a messed up prop, I couldn't run or even idle back to the ramp. I would've risked the vibrations tearing up the lower unit and/or another more severe failure. Thank goodness for Jimmy being able to come get my truck keys and go get my truck and trailer. We got the boat on the trailer without the big motor (which was a chore in the wind).
It always sucks when something breaks. Bass fishing has a lot of that. New prop is on the way, and it won't be long before I'm out there chasing the bass again. I'm lucky to have so many great folks who support me. Couldn't do it without y'all!
Here's hoping the rest of 2025 goes better!

I Almost SCREWED UP Big Time - Last Club Tournament of 2024
Переглядів 82312 годин тому
The final club tournament for 2024! It's been a fun year, and this marks a full year of filming of club tournaments with our January 2024 tournament being my first video. It was an overall good year finishing up in 3rd for AOY. I hit my goal of averaging 10lbs per tournament and ended with 121.6 lbs on the year. Nothing special, but I'm glad I was able to hit that goal. My summer tournaments re...
They're Eating CRAWFISH! - GIANT December Bass on Clarks Hill

Welcome to 2025! Thanks for tuning in during the new year! This day was a scouting trip for a club tournament the next day. Jimmy and I were looking to see if some of the typical Clarks Hill winter patterns had come into play yet. The answer? Yes! I found a solid pattern throwing a Five Bass Tackle Flatlock jig on shallow rock. The Flatlock is the perfect imitation for crawfish, and man was it ...
You Won't Believe What Happened at My LAST SPOT - Mr. Clarks Hill Day 2

Moving Day is here! That LAST VIDEO of 2024! It's been a while since I have fished a multiway tournament and had a chance to make a move on the final day... way too long if you ask me. Day 1 was a fun one, I caught a lot of fish and had 13lbs and change to end up in 13th place. I had some climbing to do to get in check range, but that's why they call it moving day. The plan was pretty much the ...
MR CLARKS HILL Bass Tournament Day 1 - BATTLE to Stay in the HUNT
Переглядів 77814 днів тому
Mr. Clarks Hill is one of the biggest bass fishing tournaments of the year around here. The title is hard to come by, and the tournament being in the fall makes it interested. Fall fishing can be feast or famine on the Hill. Things change very quickly as the bass are moving with the bait. This was especially true for this tournament as we had a large and severe cold front come through the night...

Great video, bummer about the prop...I went out yesterday evening (Jan. 13) near mistletoe state park for 2.5 hours in the afternoon/evening and caught 16 fish, largies and spots all in one spot...they were just stacked up in a ditch, best one was a 3.1 lb largemouth....looking forward to seeing more of your content!

Nice that’s awesome! Yeah this time of year they’ll get grouped up really well in certain ditches. Usually once you find them, they’ll hang around that same area until they start to move up for prespawn.

Check with your boat insurance company. I know Progressive ensures boat props...so you should only have to pay your deductible.

Good to know. May go that route if Yamaha doesn’t warranty it. Dealer seems fairly confident they’ll warranty it though, so hopefully it’ll end up being no big deal!

@ ya I agree, hill is just boring for me, even when we do good it’s only 15-17lbs on a great day, all scoping and deep brush, just on Murray I can rip chatter bait over grass and catch 20-25lbs if you find the right stretch, it’s a fantastic lake, you should definitely fish it this winter because it will have healthy grass this year, last year there wasn’t that much, but this year it’s loaded.

Do you use braid when fishing a buzz bait?

    • @ZachRamseyFishing
      @ZachRamseyFishing 28 днів тому

I don’t, I use 17lb fluorocarbon. Couple reasons for this. The first is I like the slight stretch that it has versus braid. That split second helps make sure the fish has the bait in my opinion. The other reason is fluorocarbon is much less prone to wrapping around cover as it’s more rigid than braid. Prevents you from getting hung in laydowns, bushes, or docks as often.

I would like to get a trip with him, but idk if he’s going to just take me down lake to catch a boat load of spots, if so that’s a waste of $440, do you think he will show me how to catch a 4lb bass?

Nice man! I haven’t been to Russell in a while, but I would say with this cold weather, stay down by the dam and start scanning for bait in ditches start in 15-20ft and work deeper till you find them. Once you have a depth start running ditches till you find some with bass. Drop shot, Keitech, damiki, shakeyhead, underspin. If that’s not your thing I’d say go polar opposite and find some shallow dirty water and hit it with a jig, crankbait, and spinner bait!
