MATCHING THE HATCH for Bass on Clarks Hill - Tournament Weights were CLOSE

- Hey y'all, get ready for the October edition of the Briercreek Bassmasters Club Tournament!
October has been a strange month on Clarks Hill. The water came up about 6ft due to Hurricane Helene, and then has started to drop back down again within the same month. That combined with the unseasonably warm temperatures have the fish (and possibly me) confused.
Luckily, I had a couple patterns I figured I could run during this club tournament, and both ended up producing quality fish. A jig on rock was an important player and provided the biggest fish I weighed in. The second pattern was better for numbers, but the size wasn't really what I needed. I was targeting suspended bass around brush piles and bait balls. This pattern did give a shot a big one.
All in all, I can't complain too much about this tournament. I caught a good number of fish and wasn't too far off from the winning weight. I'm glad to have already surpassed my annual club total weight goal of 100 lbs. This gives me 2 tournaments to swing for the fences and see how much weight I can tack on to my total. Luckily, I don't have to worry about making Top 6 for 2025, so I can fish stress free and just have fun.
Hope y'all enjoy this one! Working on giving y'all more updates throughout the day rather than just having text in the videos. As always, I really appreciate everyone tuning in and watching. It means more than you know. Excited that I've gotten to meet more and more of y'all, and I hope that continues as well!

Great video again!!!! Keep them coming!
Thanks! I sure will!
I had my net fly out of the boat last year. They do not float at all. Lol. I wonder how many nets are at the bottom of lakes?😂
Haha well glad I’m not the only one! Shoot there’s probably a bunch down there 😂
What were you throwing at the suspended fish on top of brush piles, I struggle catching those, especially on bluebird no windy day
Damiki rig and underspin are what I have the best luck with. Sometimes a drop shot will work as well. Sometimes it’s a matter of rotating brush until you find some fish that want to eat!
@ thank you so much, that will help a lot!
Glad to help!
another great video!
Do you have any advice for someone that fishes recreationally at clarks hill and is interested in trying out a tournament? Never fished a tournament before. who organizes them? any particular one or series that would be good to start with?
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah you should definitely try some out. The best way to do it, in my opinion is just jump in them. There’s a couple different options. You could join a club which are usually low cost of entry and 10-20 boats depending on the club. Some clubs have boaters and non boaters depending on whether you have a boat. Other good options would be tournaments run by the Clarks Hill Classic and Hadden Outdoors. Give them a follow on Facebook. They have a Super 6 Team Series that starts in January. They also usually have some Fast 5 tournaments in the winter/spring in the afternoons on Sunday. Other than that, there’s almost always a SMOT (Sat/Sun Morning Open Tournament) that goes out of wildwood. Sometimes they’ll have a random one out of Cherokee or Amity as well. But the Clark’s Hill Tournament Fishing page on Facebook is a good one to follow to keep up with any that pop up.
@ awesome. Thanks for the info and keep up the great work!
Happy to help! Thanks!
Many Lakes around here that do tournaments. Lake Greenwood does one every Sunday.. I just got going into tournaments in the last year. I love it and will continue to roll with it. If I can help in any way let me know!
Nice! Yeah I think most lakes (maybe other than Russell) around here have tournaments every Saturday/Sunday to hop in.
