Hurricane Creek Full Trail - Start to Finish - Best Off-road Trail in North Carolina!?
I found the and removed the fuse. The AI light went off. The main negative is the one the comes off instead of the auxiliary battery.
Will auto start still work? Ty
Mine only has one cord going to the negative terminal, I have 2021 is that a difference
Why isn’t the hole in the slide right under the sink drain? Straight pipe down and directly into a foldable bucket, for example. The horizontal pipe section makes no sense to me.
Not 100% sure why the sinks are designed this way. This is my second trailer and both sinks had the drain at a 90 degree angle at the bottom. Fully agree!
Did you compare these to the Off Grid trailers like the Expedition or Sprocket? Im torn betwenn Mission and Off Grid but want one eventually
I did look at Off Grid as well. As you can guess, I went with Mission Overland. Main reasons were being able to stand inside and still being able to be fit into my garage. I’m still happy with my decision and would do the same thing again.
@@BradKoester that's why i like the Mission as well. Great quality over all and you get to stand up. I like the bigger camper with the shower but i doubt the Jeep would perform well towing. I have not yet seen these campers in person.
The bigger one with the indoor shower would be too much for my Wrangler and almost max for the Gladiator. I have used the outdoor shower many times on mine and it is great ( in the warmer months ). I have had mine all over the country from sea level to over 11,000 ft up with several thousand miles. Honestly love the trailer.
Howdy! Do you think I could use the auto start stop bipass cable (Amazon) in conjunction with this tichnique?
Hey, I have not tried this personally. But I think it should work.
@@BradKoester Thanks! I will report back. Finally a real answer to this issue.I'm stoked!
Nope, didn't work on mine. Pulled the fuse and disconnected the negative terminal on the auxiliary battery and the start/stop feature continued to work. I ended up having to by a module that connects inline with the start/stop button and now it stays off without me having to push the stupid button.
Pulling the fuse and the negative is to bypass the Aux battery. This will not disable the stop/start. You will need a programmer like the Tazer or such to disable it via software. There is another way, you can pull one of the hood plungers to disable stop/start.
Does it strobe?
It does not strobe out of the box - just on or off.
Wow- I was ACTUALLY considering the little guy max micro because new its now $13,000 loaded, ofcourse its a street tower. Then i kept looking and wanting to not struggle on grassy areas down to to the Bean square 2 off grid trailer and this one! Your changes were so great. So you mentioned the overhead rope lighting, however, it looked like a two tier lighting on the roof? Whats the second type of lighting at the very top?Im use to staying off grid for at least two months at a time before needing anything, solar, poiwer 800 watts / lithium600-800, and a goal zero 3000 x (just in case:)50 of bigger ICECO cooler. Your modifications actually made that penthouse comfortable to my standards:)
The lights on the top were just something that I found on Amazon that had USB power. This way I can even use a battery pack as well as the trailer’s batteries. Nothing special, just a lot less power hungry ( and much easier on the eyes ).
Installed Gen.I on my 392 few months ago, worked realy well for a month and then all the sudden stopped working! I went over the installation again step by step, but i couldn't find what is wrong. I even had to replace the jeep battery under warrantee as it was giving me AUX Switches Temp unavailable at start.
The Aux battery is nothing but problems. I bypassed and removed mine.
@@BradKoester There is no AUX battery in the 392. Just some Aux switches connected to the jeep battery. It's common to get the "Aux Switches temp not avail" whenever there is a voltage drop in the battery. I replaced mine and no longer get the warning msg. However, the light bar still doesn't work!
Does your 12v port working? It might have a blown fuse.
Thank you for the update. I went and looked at the Mission Overland Summit last week. I was told that I could only get a 110V A/C unit. (Maybe that is all the factory offers) In South Texas, A/C is a MUST 10 months out of the year. Question is, go with factory unit or order the rig without A/C and do a self install of the 12V unit. Will cross that bridge soon. Heading to the Texas Avid Outdoors event in Llano, TX next month to look at rigs and how they are set up. Enjoy the coffee, look forward to your next video.
Thank you! I reached out to Mission Overland directly for my AC unit. However, most of the 12 volt roof top AC units should fit ok in the MaxAir fan hole, just double check. I did not want one of the 110V units as it would have to be hooked up to shore power. With a 12V system, you can use it on battery or shore power :) - even can run it for a few hours with my current batteries.
Brad- How r u?- Like it!usefull ~ )
All good here!
Brad, I didn't know about the 2nd year warranty as mine died 14 months into owning the Summit. Ended up going with a Chinese direct replacement and have not looked back. The unit literally is direct fit and it has BT connection, the parts are all serviceable. Just keep that in mind if the Truma fails again in the future and the 3k cost sounds a bit too much VS the knockoff costing around 1.2k delivered. CS was also excellent, with a single point of contact.
Sweet - I was also looking in to the Chinese replacement route as well. If it goes out again, I will be doing just this.
Do you have a link for the adjustable 90 degree air duct components?
Here is the video where I cover the heater updates with the 90 degree adapters. Heating Hack for the Mission Overland Summit. ua-cam.com/video/x9zt4RFDopo/v-deo.html
@@BradKoester Thanks Brad, this is great!
Does my 2019 jeep trail hawk have the same set up? I don't see two cables go into negative main battery on my.
Does my 2019 jeep trail hawk have the same set up?
not too flashy but puts a snorkel on😂
What fender flares did you go with so it clean under the fender?
Still running the stock fender flares for now. Still looking into what I want.
Does the inner fender rattle or are they held tight at all given they are only 3 bolts are holding it?
No rattle on or off road. Have had them in all kinds of conditions and they are holding up great.
I wonder if you had cracks because you always used the high-mount intake. I was under the impression that was only for off-road, low speed operations and that 'daily driving', especially highway speeds, was indicated for the low mount intake.
Just installed a light leak sucks.. they should have this taken care of..just installed mine and love it..but that light bleed
I also had the same issue. I installed some weather stripping along the bottom and solved the light bleed. Been happy now for over 4 years.
@@BradKoester Yeah, I plan on doing the same... They need to redesign that factory seal.
Fully agree
This auto-detect has just been designed and implemented terribly. I think it's a marketing gimmick as well a deployment-cutting corner to allow dealers to get the RV with a factory converter that fits whatever they install. This way the dealer doesn't need to do anything and the customer is fooled into thinking the converter is forward-compatible when they upgrade to lithium. A simple $1 manual switch on the board would have solved the issue. WFCO actually do sell a board that has that switch... I found one temporary workaround - turn off the CONV circuit breaker, turn off the battery switch (red knob, if you have one), wait ~30 seconds (I think the converter has capacitors that drain during this time), turn on the battery switch, turn on the CONV circuit breaker. It 'reboots' the converter. But it keeps going back to the wrong lead acid mode, every other day.
Is the aux battery good for anything for anyone?
Good at failing and causing issues 😀
For the a/c can you use it with the roof up? I know most cooling systems like fridges and a/c’s can only operate when level or within a narrow degree of level so I’m curious
Yes this AC can be used while the roof is up. And it has no problem keeping it cool inside while it is over 100 F outside. I have been happy with how it performs.
@@BradKoester awesome! good to know! thank you for the quick response
Will the amber lights dim if I put a dimmer switch on the bar?
I don’t see why this would not work.
That’s a good idea.
can the ac run with the top popped up? How does it handle in the 95-100f temps?
Yes I run the AC with the top up with no issues. A few weeks ago we were traveling across the country and when we stopped in KS it was well over 100 F. It took it around 20 minutes to take it from over 100 to low 70s F. And it was able to maintain that for the remainder of the night.
Nice trailer
Would love to have seen the unit you replaced it with
Hi! The new converter/charger is the one that you see towards the end of the video.
I still have have a big glowing A! showing on my dash. How Do I get rid of that?
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately it won’t work on the the larger gen 3 dishy
This is really good to know, thank you!
You're so welcome!
Great videos, thx. Wondering about the suction cup net on the roof interior above your head.
This holds a projector on the roof.
So what is the difference between Gen I and Gen II? Looking at a really good price on a new in the box Gen I.
I believe there is a slight design change and slightly brighter lights.
thanks
Thank you for this helpful video. I have been trying to decide whether to replace my WFCO-8735-P Power Center (which the converter has failed on) with the WFCO-8735-AD or the Progressive Dynamics Power Center with a simple on/off switch to convert between lead acid or lithium. I currently have a standard lead acid battery in my trailer, but would very much like to convert to lithium some day. Which model Progressive Dynamics is best - the 4100 or the 4135 for a situation like mine? Will the Progressive Dynamics fit into the exact same hole as the WFCO?
Thank you! I would do the 4135, almost a direct replacement for the 8735. The only difference is the mounting holes, but all other dimensions are the same.
Thanks, Brad! How did you make your decision to go with the Progressive Dynamics Model #4135 over their Model #4100? How do they differ?
What about when the vehicle gets too hot inside?
So far no issues. Have had this in way above 100 parked in the sun and way below freezing.
Is the light bleed all that bad inside while driving?
I added some weatherstripping along the bottom where it meets the window. Once this was added there is no light bleeding back inside. I even believe that this is included on the newer versions. Have had it this way for over 2 years and no issues and everything still works great!
I did that on my 2018 Rubicon along with an Autostop Eliminator, but never removed a fuse. Never had any problems but sold it shortly afterwards. The thing was a lemon.
Hey Brad! Nice heating hack! Can I grab a set from you? Can you ship North to Canada? Cheers
Hey, I don’t see any issues shipping up to CA. Hit me up in my email address that is located on my Channel Details section of my channel. The only thing I need to do is check on shipping costs to CA.
@@BradKoester email sent sir! 🍻
Where is the quick trick?
Don’t be like that
It works with the 12v output of the jackery?
I needed to make a cable, but yes the Jackery will power everything. By using 12v vs the inverter I get hours more run time.
@@BradKoester Hi Brad, tks for your answer. My concern is that the 12v outlet is rated at 10A max. So you clarified. Hugs from Brazil
Brad, I have a question. I contacted my Mission dealer to order the unit you purchased. They said Mission told them I would have to upgrade my WFCO unit. I know you swapped out your WFCO unit due to not recognizing lithium batteries. I was planning to run my ac unit using my battery bank. So I’m confused as to why I would have to change my WFCO to run the AC.
This is just a guess on my part…. The WFCO is a converter/charger, so it will provide DC power to charge your batteries and provide DC power for consumption. If they changed out the more recent trailers with a different WFCO, it might not produce enough DC power to keep up with the AC unit. The one that I changed out to has a slightly higher output, and is able to keep up with the AC unit’s needs as long as it is not on the highest/MAX setting (then it will draw from the batteries a little). Lastly, I contacted Mission Overland directly and did not do this through a dealer.
@@BradKoester Thank you for your reply. It was very helpful and you are correct in that the WFCO unit would need a higher output from 35amps to 40 amps. Thanks again.
Broh you know where is the Trail head is over the 40 ? It’s gonna be my first time there so I don’t wanna mess up
On 40 heading out of Asheville heading towards TN, it will be soon after the last rest stop before hitting TN. Look for the Harmon Den exit sign and it is immediately after it as the guard rail ends. Put your flashers and hop onto the shoulder. There is a good spot to air down along the creek ( near houses) a few minutes in. Love the trail, hope you enjoy it!
Thank you very much ! I’ll be there this Thursday TUNDRA TRD PRO 2023
Thank you very much!!
👍
Brad, very good advice as usual. Thank you. We do drink the water from the tank, but we always boil it, until now. I have added a T to the cold water to the kitchen faucet and that then get's funneled through a charcoal filter followed by a 24V (had to get a buck converter) LED UV filter. The two should pretty much take care of any bacteria or viruses. No heavy metals in our well water, so not worried about that and we don't intend on ever filling the tank with something we don't know, just piece of mind that if the water sits for a few weeks or a couple of months it can be filtered and safe to drink. How it works, it goes from the tee trough the charcoal filter first then through the UV (activated by flow) and then there is a 1/4in ball shut off valve now at the end of the kitchen slide near the burner where drinking water can be poured.
Thank you!! I’m also looking to add a filtration system of some kind, just have not been able to get to it yet. Do you mind sharing the LED UV filter that you are using?
OK. Posted yesterday but seems it didn't go trough. Look up iSpring UVF8 LED UV Water Filter. Let me know if you need any other details
How do you know which cable is the aux one to disconnet?
The thinner cable. You'll know right away If it turns out that you removed the wrong cable, your jeep won't start.
@steigj Yep
What model did you replace the Wf-8735-ad with?
Hi I installed this one, it is a direct replacement. amzn.to/3KfxPK9
Does this provide long range like other light bars or mostly for spread?
Surprisingly it does really well. It might be slightly less than something like a gravity bar, but it is right there. And the new Gen2 is brighter.
Thank you Brad. I got stranded in middle of the freeway
Sorry you got stranded, and hope this saved you a trip to the dealer/repair shop.
@@BradKoester I went ahead and followed your advice. I hope it works 🙏
@@MrJesu84 been running my Jeep with this for over a year now and no issues.
@@BradKoester mine turned off on the freeway 2 days ago while I was driving 50 mph . I'm taking it to the jeep service department
This definitely sounds like a potential bigger issue. If you don’t mind, could you share what the problem is when you get it back?
