Why do you use a 3 kΩ terminator for a transformer with an ipedance of 30:1 (5.5^2)? I would expect it to be 1.5 kΩ.

Hi Alex superb well explained fault finding i have found the exact same problem using your diagnosis ,clicking relay when apply battery and it appeared shorted solid state transistor with voltage on its output when set was turned off. many thanks for your time posting these videos invaluable advice. Turns out it was the pa relay shorted causing a back feed to the solid state transistor switch .just need to check the solid state is switching as this could be the cause of the damaged pa relay.

Hi! I'm just now finding this video after looking for something similar for years! I'd been looking specifically for something called a Clandroid kit (a fusion of a clansman radio and android smartphone), and am also curious if you had ever heard of it. Thanks for the informative video!

What toroid, how many, how many wraps, and what coaxial cable do you recommend for the RF choke on this coupler? Or would you use a Reisert Method and one toroid? Using your video I made a coupler.

Your math should be Power = 10 * (Vp)^2 in Volts and mW.. Your meter shows peak voltage Vp (not the rms voltage).. You may add the 0.64V drop to the Vp to be more precise..

Hi Alex in the new box with the yellow toroid is it just the 20m antenna using the toroid and the 40 meter not. It seems the 40-meter configuration does not use the toroid but just runs around the box to the connection back to the radio. I hope that makes sense thank you, Ethan.

Would have been nice to see inside it can only be a simple indicator and capacitor or ferrite unun which i dont think it is as it would give you 10m as a harmonic so guessing its a enamelled copper inductor and a bit of coax as a low value capacitor. have you thought about useing the same coax connection and just running a bypass wire to the 40m terminal saves an extra so239 that way its more economical to build and quicker to change band and works the same

Unless its changed since my time you need to drain both tanks first. We tasked a guy with doing it and 3 hours later no empty tank, he took fuel from the right and put it in the left, self leveling system.

hi, nice video and circuit. I did try to make a auto switch, but i was lucky to have the amp switch on my ts 480hx, which simply connects the power across the relay, the switching line has no power on it from the rig, so no sensing circuit required, its just simply a switch .it seems to work ok, although i am not sure, if i should have other components onboard for protection. sent you the circuit via email, if you could comment on it, would be very much appreciated. cheers. brian zl3xdj.

Alex, thanks again for great video! That what is really interesting - experimenting with antennas! I am trying to compare my EFHW broadband transformer (using 43 mix + 100pF, about 88% efficiency for 20m) with resonant circuit coupler with T200-6 toroid. You mentioned the efficiency of the coupler to be around 88%, but I think it probably better than that (aka it is a tuned impedance transformer).

Hello Alex, came across your video (really great, thank you for creating and publishing it!) and wanted to ask you - why "NOTE: 1mm enameled wire MUST be used, NO other size!!!!!!!"? i.e. we just need to have a resonant circuit here, so basically 13 turns on toroid will create 2.03uH so you will need about 62pF to make it resonant for 14.2Mhz. You can use any wire that will be able to hold the required power, for 100W+ anything above AWG18 (that is 1mm) should work fine. Did I miss something? P.S. Curious why did you use only 13 turns (42:1) instead of 14? (that would making it 49:1)? Especially when you say EFHW impedance will be 3000 Ohm, that is more close to 64:1.
