How to Retire Early on way less than 500k.
This video discusses how to build your retirement parachute on the way down which includes the good, bad and ugly of my retirement account numbers in the first four years of my early retirement. Some recent videos have done this topic for the first six months or year. This is my personal finance journey and is not a recommendation of what anyone else should do. If I can make this work, anyone can find their own path to FIRE.

Research on retirement and the FIRE Movement
Переглядів 137День тому
This video goes deeper into the Six Phases of retirement as well as bringing in up to date research (which is what I ask my students to do) on the FIRE movement. I'll admit this was rabbit hole research which is what happens when you are an academic researcher. I will keep trying different videos until I find success. Life Update: Moving into the RV for a two week vacation

This video was done on a wing and a prayer, which is why it is shorter than normal. I recently bought an RV at Lake Jordan in Alabama. I have spent the last few days moving in and cleaning out the bugs, YUCK! I do not have links in this in this video as it was shot live at that lake. I have posted shorts about this and I hope that they are getting me more subscribers. While I did not mention Ju...

I provided my perspective based on my nearly 5 years into early retirement on a low income. My First UA-cam Video was an Epic Failure
Hllo sir, your contaent is good , I think you need to do proper SEO for your videos. You have been using eye catchy thumbnail, and you spend a good amount of Doller for video thumbnail, .... but you didn't use any tags, and SEO optimized title and description based on those tags. SEO is very Important to find your video in search bar. I am a professional SEO expert and I know how to grow a UA-cam channel organically. Can I help you?
Cute puppy ❤
This is the first video on FIRE that I've seen that is actually research-based. Thank you for this! As an RN who works in higher education, this is crucial. (Contrary to societal belief, higher education does not pay what it should either. It's a passion project to develop the next generation, or no one would choose to stay. :) Agree with your analysis. Well done!
Thanks for visiting my channel, and thanks for sharing how you did it!
@@Midlifeanticrisis thank you for visiting my little channel. I will keep posting weekly but this will not become a job to me.
Thanks for sharing, it's nice to see others plans. You have a great mix of income and investments and a great attitude, I hope you continue to grow your channel. 👍🏼🙌🏼👊🏼
Sadly, your story of a hostile work environment isn't the first one I've heard of. I'm so glad that you had a chance to leave that job, having options is always awesome. When you say your money is loaned out to real estate investors does that mean you are a hard money lender or investing in REITs? I don't quite understand but I'm intrigued and want to learn more
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for watching. I was late today as I was puppy sitting
OK now your video is visible. That's awful that they reduced your salary like that. HSAs are fabulous! I'm glad you guys have that. Roth conversions are also a great strategy. You should have your wife make an appearance in one of your videos! 😁
She is not into my UA-cam channel. It was enough to get her to record the Intro. She is not into FIRE at all 😁, but she is enjoying the fruits of my labors. I was supposed to have the video up by 3PM but I was puppy babysitting for the first time and that was my priority today. How many videos do you do each week? I do one per week so that it does not become a job. I am really into passive income. Even my teaching at colleges is as passive as possible. I am looking forward to seeing your next video. More River videos please.
@@FIRE_DrNinjaTurtle I get it. I just do 2 a week. ☺
😊😊😊❤
I like this book but I felt like it was geared to people with a very high net worth. I'm working on a book with kind of a similar message but aimed at people with a more modest net worth.
great video and great insights. Thanks for sharing all of your wisdom.
You are so right about the importance of imagination over money.
WOW! Beautiful! Enjoy 😊🎉
@@tonyalaw8197 I love it
I achieved Barista FIRE by accident. I didn’t even know what FIRE was, much less Barista FIRE, but here I am. I can’t wait to put both feet fully into retirement!
Enjoy your time at the lake! Another great video! 😁
That very Lovely… Are youenjoyinh yourself?.. Have you found other hobbies while enjoying?
This video is so funny. Ms leslie .. I was just going to send this to you. Your fur baby is so cute..👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯💯💯
Nice relaxing view!
@@713skywalker I insist on enjoying retirement
Well said, great video my friend. I hope all is well and that you are safe from the recent storms. Welcome to the RV world, we bought a 2011 Born Free 22' a couple of years ago to do that. Funny thing is that I am thinking about getting a van and convert it into a RV to get into other places. I am so happy for you and everything you are doing ... keep up the wonderful things you do
Thank you so much. i am currently working from the RV for 2 weeks as we get settled into the RV Park. So many things to buy and get set up. I never think about those extra costs when I buy something. My only issue is paying rent. I have not paid rent in 30 years, but this place is worth it.
Water front property is one of our goals. Not sure where exactly, but something I always keep an eye out for. Enjoy!
This was a surprise purchase. Impulse spending at it’s best
I've always wanted to live on a lake. I bet you are loving your property!! 😁
This is a dream that popped up in retirement. It was not planned, but being financially free allows these things to happen. You are so much more stable than me. I am doing this by the seat of my pants. I love your plan and how organized your retirement plan is. I also love that my retirement costs me very little. A fishing pole, bait, and someday a tiny boat (and I am happy).
@@FIRE_DrNinjaTurtle Your retirement seems wonderful to me!! You're doing what you want when you want! 😁
Lil Bad ass, lol

New subscriber here. Found your channel through the shoutout you received from Happy On Monday's channel (see her September Reitrement Portfolio video). Fabulous story! Very inspirational. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on an incredible journey!

That is so beautiful….
She is adorable. Thats the kind of dog that Ibwould have…IF I WAS going to have one. Isnt thatba Pomiranian ?.. ignore my spelling …. Whats her name???
I would like to get an rv in a few years..to travel more and see more of the US😎
Thank you for watching my video. We bought this in an RV park at the lake. We did not have to buy the truck to pull it around. While it is in a premium spot at the moment, we are going to move to a less expensive spot (which is still close to the lake) for the long run.
I could drive something smaller, like a sprinter van.
What a remarkable story! You have overcome a ton of adversity and was still able to have a happy ending/ positive outcome. I love hearing stories like this. So glad you joined the UA-cam community
A lot of people have a similar experience regarding the toxic work environment forcing them out. We lost a good one, but I'm glad that you got out while you were still healthy and able to enjoy this next stage in your life
Great video! That lake looks lovely. We are so glad that you've found a great place to maximize your positive life experiences and invest in your experiences 😊🎉
So cute 🥰 😺
Thanks for the shout out! I'm definitely still in the honeymoon phase. 😁Your puppy is adorable!!🐕
Yep
So pretty 😊
Best hubby!!

Kristann, you are not alone. Believe it or not, I came down with Covid the day after I got off a cruise so obviously, I got it on the ship. And I was very, VERY careful. We were in a party of 11 and 5 of us got it after the cruise. When I saw the title of this video, I assumed you were going to say "Oh, it was wonderful, I had no problems and I can't wait to go again!" I appreciate your candidness and it really made me think. I can relate because my retirement "Dream" was always to travel a lot. I am not retired yet (I am close) but like you, I am really considering the question "What do I want to do after I retire?" I am appreciating our home and garden/patio a lot and know in the summer, I plan to be right here in my neighborhood and near my friends and family. Traveling is fun but it's always good to go home. And your video makes me think it's ok if I don't want to travel as much as I thought I did. Regarding travel, I have started to do something new and maybe you want to do it too. I track everything expense wise--our costs to park at the airport, get a pet sitter, snacks in the airport, flights, destination (usually an all inclusive but can be a cruise), travel to/from the destination, any extras including tips, and travel insurance. Every cost we incur. I do a budget because some of these I know when I book them ahead of the trip. And the ones I can't control (like airport expenses) I track. Then when I am done, I calculate a cost per day, per person. I am beginning to come up with some norms that apply to different types of travel. A cost/person/day for a cruise vs. an all inclusive vs. a road trip, etc. International vs. domestic travel. At first I went back two years to get an idea but now I track every trip we do. And getting this number helps me plan for the future. So I know if we want to go on a cruise, its going to cost us $XXX/per person per day and if we want to go to an all inclusive, it will cost us $YYY/per person per day and if I go on a local road trip it will cost us $ZZZ/per person per day. Now I have a way to plan and know what it should cost and decide if I want to spend the money doing that or something else. I hope this helps you as you travel in retirement.
Wow! 75% savings rate is amazing! A plant based diet can do wonders for your health. Same with exercise!! Great video! 😁
