    Mine are so sticky they won’t slide at all. Every single one is stuck solid.

    Thank you so much for this helpful video! We’re having the horizontal sliders installed on our porch and we back up to a golf course. Incredibly we get a lot of strong winds at times. Question: do you recommend that we take the windows out when we go on an extended vacation? ❤

    • @PreparedDads
      @PreparedDads 5 місяців тому

      This is Dave from the video. It depends on what you have on the porch. If you have things in there that you want to protect from the rain, pollen, dirt, etc, leave them up. If there's not much in the porch, just lowering them all to the bottom creates a pretty strong little wall of window panels. Taking them all out, except for cleaning, is just a pain.

      @@PreparedDads I appreciate your response but I we will have the horizontal sliders, not the windows we can drop down. That’s what my question was referring to but I’m assuming the answer would be the same. :)

      @@peachtreelady You're right. Do the same, but it just won't be as strong as the verticals.

    I watched two videos and you never demonstrated how to wash them! Telling is not teaching-hands on is the key. Do we let the Woolite or cleaner sit for a bit? Is it safe to spray and wipe? I don’t want to mess this up!

      That's because the cleaning part is like normal. The SPECIAL SAUCE here is the type of cleaner and the rag. Otherwise, clean like normal. As Master Miyagi might say, "Spray on, wipe off".

    I have torn one of my vinyl windows. Is there someone who does repairs near Ottawa, Canada?

      None that I know of. You could always ship it to their office in SC, but that might be cost-prohibitive.

      I'm going to try to replace the vinyl myself. I ordered it, not in yet. I'll let you know if I can, then you can. Years ago a squirrel ate a big hole through the screen and the vinyl window. I took the frame in for a replacement of vinyl. One pane cost me $40. That was at least 10 years ago. That company is no longer in business. I bought this house with the sunroom already built. I did not take care of the vinyl correctly. I just cleaned it like regular windows. I wasn't told otherwise. Now my 10 or 20 mil vinyl window inserts are cracking and all spotted up. I have major repair, and no one in my area sells it or does it. I ordered some vinyl and repair parts and I am going to try to replace and fix broken parts myself, a few at a time.

    Good for any warm climate. I wouldn't recommend them for any location that goes below 50 degrees. This do NOT offer any insulation at all. Even with a patio heater, it doesn't help much. I would rather go with regular vinyl double panel insulated windows.

    Can you use dawn to clean them?

    • @streamsofincomebydrdave
      @streamsofincomebydrdave 2 роки тому

      I've never tested Dawn on them, so I wouldn't recommend it. Stick with the Woolite for a cheaper soap alternative.

    dave Hello , first thank you so much for your time and help. I just mive to a house that have like your clear and blue or ligth blue panel, very light, My question is HOW DO I KNOW BECAUSE IS POLYCARBONATE I BELIEVE IS IT OR PLASTIC HOW DO I KNOW IS STRONG LIKE 5/8 PLYWOOD , OR METAL PANEL ,I do not see any numbers, and Very afraid in florida if a storm is coming. for the house and especially my litlle girls. please if you know anything or how to find out I will apreciate, cause I have no I way to shoot a 2x4 to the panel, like they test it. and is hard to believe so light will resist 150 miles 180 miles winds. thank you in advance

    Dave, you make it look so easy. I have an issue with my application due to the window itself comes out about an inch from the window box. How much space between the window and Hurricane panel does there need to be?

    • @streamsofincomebydrdave
      @streamsofincomebydrdave 5 років тому

      I like at least an inch from panel to window. That way there's some room for it to flex if something big hits it. That's why I don't like the fabric or other panels that fit right up against the window. On yours, you can actually buy a header that has a build out and comes away from the window.

    I live in Florida and I’ve been using Lexan panels for years now. They are light weight, won’t cut me, easy to clean and allows light in. I’ve had things rub up on them but never had a direct hit yet.
