Jumping the Tenere 700 on a Motocross track
Переглядів 12 тис.2 роки тому
My very first time on a motocross track with my Tenere 700. The weight of the bike cannot be ignored, but it's fun throwing it around anyway! On the jumps the forks do bottom out at times, therefore I do not plan to do anything much more with the bike until the suspension is upgraded. Sorry about the wind noise.
"OEM Add-on screen/windscreen" Installation & Review | Tenere 700
Переглядів 8 тис.2 роки тому
An installation guide video and review of the OEM Yamaha Add-on screen part for additional wind protection!
Which crash bars are those? Maker?
OEM Yamaha
My throttle was way out of spec. I adjusted it and it was a major improvement. Thanks
Get your bike ECU flashed, the bike runs butter smooth after this, you won't believe it till you feel it ;-)
Getting ready to switch to the World Raid 🤫 Thanks for the tip!
@@gravelroadslovenia also remove the airfilter snorkel and fit the filter kit from Throttle punks, the oem snorkel and filter really upset the fuel and air mixture for Euro 5 emission regulations, it's a different bike after the new filter and ECU flash, I also got the thermostat temperature changed to 95deg, beter than the standard 102deg, so on hot days the fans cuts in earlier.
@@ObanHighlander will definitely consider the modifications. Where did you get the ECU flashed?
@@gravelroadslovenia I live in The Netherlands, though originally come from Scotland, the tune was done at Druijff Racing here in The Netherlands, it was done on a rolling road bank, took around 3 hrs to complete and cost €450, it's possible to send your ECU to Throttle punks for the flash and filter kit if you can't get the bike near a tuner locally.
Thats awesome!

Thanks! Just adjusted the shift lever. Very easy fix :)
Amazing, thanks for the help!
I am 1.84m, no problems with wind hitting me, but have problem with wind noise, its unbearable at higher speeds. Any expierience with that, does this help? Thanks!
I wouldn't know. I assume you would need a wider windscreen to eliminate the wind noise. The helmet is also something to look into. Schuberth are known to be the quietest. Otherwise, I use a set of Motosafe Tour earplugs made by Alpine. These are known to be one of the best, I strongly recommend them. www.alpinehearingprotection.com/products/motosafe-tour
careful! people dont give a fuck if they hear you or not - I am the same when I am in my car, I might hear you, but as long as I dont see you its not my job to get out of the way!
Thank you 😊
Thank you
Have you tried a smaller screen or cutting it down sometimes that can be cleaner air
I have a friend that has done exactly that and it has helped
Thanks for the tutorial. Adjusted my throttle just now 👍🏼
Cable!!
My mistake, you are right... 🫣
So the carbon cap doesn’t come out? Do they sell titanium rivets?
I heard it is possible to remove the carbon however in my case it was not possible. Rivets cannot be purchased from Akrapovic directly, however I did find a company that was their supplier. The ones they use are watertight and of stainless steel. They are identical.
@@gravelroadslovenia any chance you can send me the link for the rivets. I think I’ll try to remove the cap as first, as I don’t want to make holes. Thanks
@@v.gousis2241 the company is called Pnevmotex d.o.o, and the type of rivet you need are "blok zakovica rf 4.8 X 8 ZAPRTA". If they will refuse shipping it to you let me know and we will work something out. When drilling the holes you will need a high end drill bit. Installing the rivets also requires a professional tool since they are too strong to be clipped in with a classic hand tool. Since I went through the process I would strongly recommend avoiding what you are planning to do. Drill the holes in the carbon and get the rubber covers from Akrapovic, it still looks good.
Thank you so much
The chain tension might be too tight now. The chain should not be pushed down all the time while messaering. It should only be pushed down once and then the messarument can happen. In the end you want to have arround 20mm play while the chain is under the most tenssion. This occours if the pivot point for the swing arm ind the wheel axle are aligned. This video show the process pretty well ua-cam.com/video/PG45bohwxlk/v-deo.html
Thank you for the insight, looks proper
Is the coloue on yours a wrap?
No, its a factory rally edition color that was in production until 2021.
Thank you boss 👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼
ppf should be installed with slip solution which will eliminate air bubbles and generally has to be stretched to size/shape this will reduce/remove material fingers. Try that next time should help
This was my intent initially, however SKDA discouraged the idea due to potential adhesion issues.
Great video! Do you think it is a problem if you remove one db-killer?
Hola amigo, gracias por el video, pero no encuentro los dos tapones de goma akrapovic...me puedes pasar enlace de amazon o asi? Muchas gracias por el video y las explicaciones
Here you go amigo 😉 www.tradeinn.com/motardinn/en/akrapovic-rubber-insert-ref:p-guv004/137139472/p
Hello, Nice work :D How did you make the hole? What type of drill did you use to make the hole?
I made the hole using a cone drill bit. Then I went around with a Dremel to smoothen the edges (normal sandpaper should work too).
i too have that issue with the mechanic. Every time I send for oil change they would check the air pressure adjust the chain slack. That's part of their service but I don't understand why they over tighten it way beyond what the manual says and the tire pressure instead of 29psi they pump up to 36psi 😮😮
Hey, removing that chain guard was too quick for me to do the Cha-Cha!
Supposed compress suspesion with ur wait then adjust be perfect
@gravelroad have you had any issues with the bike since you removed the db killers? I've read these engines run lean to meet emissions and removing the db killer can cause it to run too lean
No issues at all. It has been running like so for the bast 10k km. I have a friend that has done 20k km like this with no issues either.
@@gravelroadsloveniaNice, thanks for replying
Dealers won't adjust anything
Odd didn't get any of that with mine new
Thank you for posting this video, I had a really slack throttle cable on my new Tenere World Raid, I tightened it as per your video and the bike's throttle is so much smoother, no on off anymore. There is less room on the world Raid but it is still pretty easy.
done! worked great thanks!!
Thank you for the video, helped alot!
I love the video ,and I are you still using the Add on screen I have tried the alt-rider adjustable screen Reiser with is rubbish. I am 6,1 and I’m about to order Yamaha Add on screen would you still recommend? Like you said I would only use it for motorway, work then take off .I like the look of the original screen. Does it leave any marks on the screen OEM screen after it’s been taken off? Thanks Paul
I would recommend. Make sure you tighten it well as it may want to fly off on bumpy off-road surfaces. It does leave a small mark but it rubs off easily. Just a heads up, it may be less useful and effective than you think, but it does certainly help. Its not as effective as a taller and wider windshield.
@@gravelroadslovenia fantastic I have placed the order with Yamaha thanks for your help 🤟
Read the manual ?¿
Nice
u could use Self Adhesive Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap Tape to cover the holes 😉i like the stock look and sound. if i want louder exhaust ill get another one before i destroy (aka modify) the original Akra.
I completely agree with your perspective. Not to mention how easily it can get damaged when off-roading. I have another stock exhaust on me, thats the reason I didn't get something else.
@@gravelroadslovenia i finally did it ... got tired of hearing only the engine and not the exhaust note
now it is a bit too loud but I guess I|ll get used to it
@@kloppskalli This problem goes away with age 😉 Jokes aside, I tend to ride with earplugs. Reduces the loudness of the wind and exhaust just right. I would recommend giving it a try.
Cant you just put a piece of black tape of the holes? It probably seals it. The carbon doesn't really get that hot?
In the summer it does. I'm not sure how the tape would hold up. If you replaced it regularly, should probably work.
@@gravelroadslovenia are you planning to make ajustments to the exhaust placement? We have the same bike, with the nice akrapovic. But its so vulnerable on the side! what are your thoughts?
@@Townmaking Not really. I protected the carbon with 3M Paint Protection Film and put a rubber silencer protector on the exhaust (check Aliexpress). For hard enduro I put the original exhaust back on. The swingarm is protected by the 3D Moto Carbon Kevlar cover, however the ones from Acerbis work well too. This combination does the trick for me.
@@gravelroadslovenia today I removed the debuffer like in the video, everything worked fine. Thanks for your videos
Hello, nice vidéo thanks, did you try with only one dB ?
I haven't, however I'm not sure how that would affect the sound. Make it half as loud maybe? 😅
Hi and thanks for the video you uploaded, it's done very well, I wanted to know if removing the KILLER DB you had an increase in power / performance or if the modification is only for a sound / sound factor??? Thanks for the reply. 😅😅😅
I did not notice any change in performance for the better or worse, with the exception of reduced engine braking. However if you were to remap the ECU without the db killers you surely would get a power gain.
just done everything showed in the video today and wow, what an improvement !!! bike has a total different soul now.. thanks mate!
I cant get the db out.. solid .. help
Interesting... try heating up the exhaust and try to pull it out hard with a set of pliers. It is a tight squeeze.
@@gravelroadslovenia hi.. ive done it, I used wd40 and used a large socket set over the small end pipe and knocked inwards just to break the seal and the pulled and it came out easy.. cheers
Hi, I'm looking for a lower foot pegs for T7 and see your video and the Johannes's, and I don't know which is the best option for me, put ones that only lower the pegs, or ones that that lower and with back offset. 🤔 I read a comment somewhere that a 30mm it's too low and make the adjustment of shift and brake leavers difficult, the best option is a down 20mm. Now, from this point (20mm lower) a back offset it's needed? Thanks
I have tried a -20 offset to the back and I disliked it. Uncomfortable while sitting because the leg sits too far back, its more difficult to reach the levers which mid corner upsets the balance of the bike when lifting the foot off the peg. The only benefit is a minimally improved and more stable standing position, but if you do not ride offroad more than 50% of the time, I think its not worth it. Hope this helps!
Hello, I hope you can help me. I bought this exhaust used and it came without the db killer. Can you tell me the size of yours? Width and length? Thanks in advance.
Hey, I have missed your comment, sorry. Send me your email and I''l send you all the dimensions and photos.
Those bolts are nuts. Don’t back off the axle nut so much, a little friction will help. It’s a cable throttle, throttle by wire is electronic
How low are they and what is the off set..are they 30mm lower and 20mm back? im 6,7 and I just got the t7, im thinking about getting some lower foot pegs instead of measing with bar risers. Thanks for the videos!
The ones I have on at the moment are lowered by 20mm. I have tried the ones that are 20mm offset to the rear and lowered by 30mm and I did not like them at all. While standing they were alright, but the shift and brake levers were too far for my taste, despite being 6,6. While sitting the leg position was too far back which made it uncomfortable and inconvenient to shift or brake. If the peg is too low you will have a hard time adjusting the shift lever to your liking since it has limited adjustability. My suggestion to you is, get the lowered -20mm pegs, and rotate the bars. Do not buy the bar raisers because they will make the situation worse. Check the video Bret Tacks made on this topic.
hallo there! rally edition have the same exhaust with standard edition except the Akrapovic muffler right? i mean rally edition hasnt full exhaust system of Akrapovic right?
Thats right. The Akrapovic heads are not street legal.
great tips thanks
It’s not worse I have a 22 Tenere 700, your full of shit. It’s a big torquey dirt bike guy. Maybe you need to try a Honda 450; now that’s jerky these are smooth. You must have got a bad one or you did something to it. I call bullshit
Compared to something like an Africa Twin or a KTM 890R it is jerky as hell on the Tenere. Glad yours is problem free!
@@gravelroadslovenianow compare tenere 700 to a ktm duke 690… tenere is incredibly smooth
@@gravelroadsloveniawatched your video and on my ktm duke 690 chain is perfectly adjusted and i have a electronic throttle so your instructions didnt help. Jerkiness like this is usually caused by the engine
if you try a bike like africa twin you would know what he is talking about. it is not unridable on yamaha but honda feels much much better for on and off throttle
@@maucina12 Dude I had a yamah xt660x and now a ktm duke 690. jerky throttle is a nightmare. my uncle did compare his tracer 700 to a honda nc750 though and tracer is jerkier. but won't be as bad as big thumpers.
