Watch boondock saints if you haven't. My personal favorite movie if I had to pick one
You should check out "Paris at Night" the French movie, 2012, with Rochhdy Zem. I'm sure you'll like it.
I liked Furiosa a lot more than you but then again I haven't thought too much about it because the movie I saw immediately afterwards (we did a double feature) is way less digestable so maybe I just need to sit on it more.
Luca Guadagnino also made the Suspiria remake, which was pretty divisive, but I personally was very impressed with it.
do you have a favorite director? one of mine is paul thomas anderson.. fav film is There will be blood.
Probably Scorsese or Kubrick. And if we’re including writers I’d also say Kaufman is up there.
@@jacksonkruegermoviesi’m not familiar with kaufman will have to do some research and check them out
The previous comment were jokes, please don't take it the wrong way, like the following, Congratulations to the 2024 Eastern Conference Champion Florida Panthers. Forget the Bolts, Florida is now the NHL Litter Box! GO CATS!
Jackson, I want to collaborate with you on a project that I'm going to title, Untapped Greatness; The Daniel Jones Story and You Don't Have to Win to be a Winner; The Untold Story of Todd Bowles. What do you think?
I just don’t understand how your channels are so slept on
Appreciate that!
This movie really tried to ride 100% on the back of Ryan Gosling’s charm and it almost works
I will never forget the soundtrack and cinematography of this movie. I think it’s a masterpiece in character-driven tension
i too am a football and art house movie fan.. excited for more uploads
Hollywood must be currently in a crisis of original thinking if they are rebooting mediocre '80's Tv shows like The Fall Guy. What's next, a T.J. Hooker film?
i think it was a pretty good movie, but i was disappointed when they used stunt doubles.
im so glad you have this channel now, love your sports page!
Thanks!

I really liked the movie. I was a bit scared that the trailer spoils everything but it was alright.
At least this Mad Max series is'nt the low budget, incoherent, rubbish (with an Aussie accent) exhibited in the Gibson films. You want to watch an underrtaed, timeless, classic? Catch Stuart Rosenberg's, gritty and amusing street classic, 1984's "The Pope of Greenwich Village" featuring Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, and Burt Young. I agree with your take on mind numbing action flicks.
Great review, I also liked how they used certain scenes, music build up and body language to tell us stuff. And the fashion of Zendaya throughout her life was really nice to notice too.
Im cautiously hyped. It’ll probably be a really good movie that people set their expectations a bit too high due to Fury Road’s success
Yeah I think that’s the correct approach. Fury Road is basically an impossible expectation to live up to, but it was still a lot of fun.
Na...you trolling...This piece of cinema was beyond epic. Convince me otherwise, I dare ya. 😆
the dark knight trilogy is the worst offender- every couple of minutes characters stop, to explain the themes of the movie, it particularly took me out, during the third act of the dark knight, where aaron eckhardts two face rams the entire point of the movie down the audiences throat, in a situation, that would call for action, without pausing, to deliver another unnatural sounding speech- still dig those movies, but these exposition dumps where among the most unrealistic parts, of a supposedly realistic universe and took me out of the story, at times. back then, ive wondered, if it was a studio mandated choice (memento, for example, didnt suffer from this), but its arguably grown worse, along with nolans reputation- end of rant
Nolan fanboys defend him too hard. Yes, Nolan lately has relied too heavily on exposition and over-exposition. He's pushing some narrative boundaries and that comes at a cost, but in Oppenheimer, he's now going through time jumps for simple conversations, treating every scene like a bomb going off when most of the movie is political jargon.
Nolan made me realize how stupid the average person is. Outside of Tenet (which is a bit convoluted), I've never had a hard time following his movies. Yet people always act as if they are the most confusing narratives ever told. Even Inception I thought it was pretty easy to follow. Yet I was surprised when i talked to so many people who didn't understand anything.
Tenet is not convoluted... it's a freaking masterpiece.
It's not a masterpiece. It's a dull movie. The acting was bland. Take away the action sequences, and it has nothing interesting to offer
@@nerychristian The acting? What acting.. Did you see that masterpiece? It wasn't a movie created for actors to do amazing work... It was a James Bond movie without the trash and actually, you know... smart.
@@edgardoMurnia How was it smart? It's just a typical spy story about stopping a villain from using a nuclear weapon. The only difference is some of the scenes are in reverse.
@@nerychristian Sure buddy... And the Godfather is a family of dudes killing each other with another familiy of dudes...
this video feels like 12 minutes of exposition
Regardless of the director, I have no problem with remakes of older movies. I haven't seen the original "High & Low" (Going to check it out though) but a remake doesn't erase the original.
Spike Lee has terrible choices when framing and shooting certain sequences Look at the end of black clansman.. Look at inside man when they shoot the hostage.. He is also too wrapped up in politics to make anything that can stand on its own without any discussion into social politics - and that’s ok- that’s the type of director he is.. but he’s not an auteur Also - love this video - you’re extremely knowledgeable and appreciate how you’ve constructed this essay
What!!!....I thought this was Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie
Ice Spice lol
Great list. Subbed. Keep going small channel guy!
bro wipe off that mic :p
Spike Lee? Seriously? Have we completely run out of anything that passes for talent. When you need to consider Lee as an option you should just admit you're done.
This was a good breakdown! I am a HUGE fan of Spike Lee’s films (as well as Akira Kurosawa). I can understand why Spike might have felt the need for an important story like “High and Low”, with its themes of class conflicts, social inequities, and how complicit society’s members are in propping up systems that are inherently unjust and unequal. Personally, I don’t think we should be remaking older films that are already great classics. I agree, I would love a modern day version with a similar but different story that deals with similar themes, sure. I just wouldn’t call it “High and Low”, and I definitely wouldn’t call it a remake. Spike has already tried this with Oldboy, which was already an excellent film, but the remake unfortunately just didn’t land as well.
Thanks! And yeah good point. He could’ve just made a film inspired by this one instead of remaking it.
Do you have a Letterbox account to follow?
Yep! Jacksonkrueger
I need to see more Altman. Short Cuts is one of my all time favorite movies.
I like that you seem to know your stuff when it comes to film. Glad I subbed
Appreciate it!
Check out Sunshine for sure. Its in my top 10 movies that I have seen. Recently saw "Copland" from 1997 with Stallone and Keitel and Deniro. You guys should check that out too. Good acting. Sunshine is just epic on a grand scale and the ending really hit hard with me. I loved that ending.
What kind of American are you ? Checkers American or 4 in a Row American ? 🤔 ❤😂
I’ve been watching reviews on Civil war ever since I seen the movie. Truthfully, I didn’t even realize that Kristen Dunst’s character died at the end of the movie because it was so uneventful lol & to think that her character was one of the main characters n they killed her off like that. Pure Childishness 😂 Great movie tho!!! N Great review of it!!! Cheers!!!
1. The "bad" guy president was made to resemble Trump (no surprise there) 2. Right wing Boogoloo boys are shown as "bad" (nearly all of them are white) 3. Left wing groups like Antifa are mentioned but NEVER shown 4. There is not a single instance when the journalist crew encounters leftists, although they are they ones who rioted and destroyed inner cities for months. 5. The elite tactical force that moves in to take D.C is very diverse, which creates a White vs Diverse narrative.
I'll have to check out Sunshine. I liked 28 days and Ex-Machina. Ridley Scott tier list! I love his movies.
Jessie would've been raped at the gas station, the fun-loving car-hopping scene was idiotic, and the resulting kidnapping of Jessie and Bohai would've gotten Jessie and Lee raped and killed. Standing up when ordered to keep your head down in the D.C. battle scenes would've gotten Jessie's head blown off, and Jessie leaving Lee to die alone after being saved by her made me despise her character. The characters were horrible, but with no exposition on the various factions and no info on why the war was being fought, 'Civil War' didn't work for me.
This movie is what would happen if Trump had successfully taken the presidency in 2020.
Just say you aint even watched the movie lmao
I was legit going to subscribe but then you legit starting giving out spoilers in a video titled “.spoiler free” You ruined some of my internet time. :(
Sorry, wasn’t trying to ruin your time. I meant the title to mean, it’s both a spoiler free review and then an analysis, but I can see how that was misleading and I’ll change the title. Thanks for the feedback!
No offense, but you have no idea what Cinema Sins is attempting to do, or how they operate.
I wasn’t really trying to take a shot at cinema sins, more so just using them as an example of that style of nitpicky criticism. But you’re correct, they do it for comedic purposes which is different.
9:08 is bro, saying, Pedro Pascal????
Yeah I’m not sure why I kept saying that lol. I meant Wagner Moura.
@@jacksonkruegermovies Funny, but when I watched the movie Friday I was thinking how much he reminded me of Pedro Pascal. I wasn't really familiar with his work before, but I thought he was excellent.
It was woke trash
lol, how?

@@LeonardoJ037 I haven’t deleted any comment, I’m assuming UA-cam auto-flagged your comment for some reason.
Hollywood would NEVER greenlight a movie about a contemporary US civil war that had realistic left right politics because the studio bosses are absolute political cowards. There's no way to do that movie without infuriating Republicans, because there's no plausible scenario in which the right wing are the good guys in a realistic contemporary fictional US civil war. There's also very few options for ways to do that movie without a big studio budget and make it work.
Its too tied to his rad lib politics that basically lean towards the neoliberal blairite right
Thanks again, Jackson. I'll get to it soon. Occasionally, I send a couple of dollars to creators to help support channels. I can't seem to do so on here tho. Am I missing something?
