Summer Sock Camp 24 // Christmas in July
I only have three wips right now. I decided last year to finish my projects before starting another one. At least it’s only three. Lol
Well done on all your courageous moves! I love hearing people’s stories ❤ Continued good luck in your new job and training😊
I must say your WIPs are beautiful!❤
@@ZeldaSews thank you! X
Lolol. Merry Christmas!❤ I am not a knitter or a crocheter, I am a sewist and I understand about WIPs. I am finally down to one and I plan on getting it finished before the new year. I don't like starting a year with works in progress. Don't ask me how I do in the middle of the year!😅😅😅😅
@@ZeldaSews good luck! And merry Christmas to you too xx
Great story! Seems like every time you made a bold move, something good happened. Thank you for sharing your story, even the difficult chapter. Wishing you and your boys a wonderful Christmas!
Yes, the answers to questions were very interesting! I would like to purchase one of your remaining dyed works but have no idea how to find out more. Do you have a website or Etsy shop? The “Starry Night” color combination looks especially beautiful! I don’t know if that’s what you call it, but it reminds me of Van Gogh.
Ah I'm glad you found it interesting! It felt a little self indulgent sharing a bit of my "story" but it's what was asked! Thank you so much for your interest in the yarn 😊 I don't have either now but if you use Instagram and can send me a message with what you'd like and an email I can arrange it with Mina. Yes it's Minas starry night shawl pattern! X
A number of WIP can be so important for creativity and joy. ❤
I agree!
I think you should frog the Thomas sweater and knit in bigger size as well.
I think for sibling sweater if you sure made mistake in back frog and recast in size 5-6.
Those buttons were the star/angel/thingy on top of the tree for that cardy. Just finished it perfectly.
Aw thank you!! Xx
Robin looked great in the cardigan and I wouldn’t mind a jumper like that lol x
haha it's not bad is it? x
Aww love Magnus a friendly dog and hugely missed. Love the cardigan colours
Thank you!! He's still as soppy as ever xx
The sweater came out awesome 😎
thank you! I'm so pleased - I've never graded anything before and my friend is thrilled
I can’t believe I won🎉 I love watching your videos. I didn’t see your email. Please let me know how to get in touch with you 😊
Hello! I've resent the email please check your spam :) xx
Thank you for sharing this Christmas experience! Robin is such a joyous child.
Thank you that's so kind. He's always been a happy boy. X
The reindeer have enormous feet!!
@@wiveyweaver 🤣🤣
I love it when people share their WIP's, I have a fair few myself in varying degrees of doneness. Right now I'm mainly focusing on knitted panda coasters for my daughter for Christmas
They sound amazing! Lucky daughter.
Fantastic box to unpack!
More like WIPs extravaganza 🎉 because every project is another creative thing
@CasualKnitter I like thr sound of that!
Hi chickens. If you want to see the self striping dye process I feature that in my latest vlog ua-cam.com/video/__R2KEwIRIc/v-deo.html
thank you, chicken!
15:37 have you tried Katia United Sock? That one is my favourite so far
Oh not yet!! I'll have to add it to my list
Not allowed to comment on your "Have I Cast On?" but congratulations on the 1000, in fact 2000 subscribers!
@wiveyweaver yeah I paused comments at midnight for the giveaway to close but thank you so much! I'm going to do a random generator on tonight's episode x
@@TheMidnightDyery I'm not good at You Tube so must start checking it more regularly!
Thank you - the cowl looks great! Definitely lots more left and decided I have to do one more show at RHS Rosemoor in April 2025!
omg, i cant stop laughing about the frog pond....it is literally the name of the bar where i grew up!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂 ...... im guessing 37 wips(ok 39)
Haha sounds like my sort of establishment! Good guess
That had me smiling from ear to ear! So cute 💙❣️
You are so kind! X
Isn't funny how when we take pressure off ourselves or say we won't do something that's exactly what we will do! Human nature is funny. Oh, yes, in the US it's a c'mas eve thing to do a little something because we are impatient lol we want to start the festivities early because Advent wasn't really a thing. However it is getting more popular but only to buy for yourself not kiddos really.... I don't know for sure that though because my children are adults!
It's a fun tradition! I've got a new-to-us book to share and my son loves Popcorn so we might do a movie in the afternoon. And yep us humans are odd creatures x
Wow! You are a machine! Love watching what you are up to ❣️
😊 thank you haha not sure about machine! X

I love watching your podcast!! Congrats on reaching the 1000 subscribers!! Hugs from Portugal! 😘😘
The amount of knitting you get done in a year is impressive. I get about one thing done a month, though this year I did finish a complicated crochet blanket for my daughter - but it took all year! For next Friday… How did you decide to go from being a yarn dyer and a running a yarn shop to becoming a preschool teacher?
Thank you! A lot of mine are relatively small things and I don't go out or do much else. My knitting time has reduced since starting my new job though that's for sure! Your daughter is very luckyx
I’m glad to see you are well past the 1000 mark at this point! Your sense of humor and excellent knitting and family content have made me a subscriber recently. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
I’m also a new member of the 1000. Sometimes the algorithm gets it right! Enjoying your videos and your honesty about knitting and life xx
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subscribers, I joined for the hints and tips for sewing, and stayed for the knitting and chat. Nice to have a regular UK vlogger to watch in 2024, wishing you all the very best for 2025 and the next 1000 subscribers!
Lots as you seem to be working on your PhD ( piled higher and deeper ) 😂
Oh I LIKE that! PhD! I've heard of that as projects half done but yep piled higher and deeper definitely is the cap that fits here 😂
Guess is 32
1000 : I am new to your channel. It was the WIP vlog that drew me in and hooked me, thank you very much. I have unusually for me cast on a few different things at the same time. I am doing a second marled scarf from scraps recommended by Rachael from Sew Ray Me podcast. Cotton cloths for my grandbaby to be in feb, a cardigan for same baby, a pair of scrappy marled socks and a waterfall cardigan. I aslo watch Jude's new channel, it's such a fab thing to look forward to every Sunday.
Hello! Thanks for being here and sharing your makes. Many congratulations on your grandbaby to be - always so exciting. xx
I can only work on one thing at a time. I'm new to knitting an i know if i let myself do more than one thing nothing would ever get finished. Good luck compleating what you want to finish.
It's how I started. Thank you! xx
I have to use the excitement of wanting to start a new project in order to get through the slightly boring stage before the finish of the current one, so I tend to only have one active project at a time, which right now is a cowl. That said, there are a few projects that are not exactly wips, since I'm not actively working on them now, but are not exactly finished items either... A hat I made that is the wrong size that I need to fix (I am hoping I just made it too tall), another hat I made that needs a new pompom because the one I had exploded, and the knitted nativity that I started several years ago, I have sewn up Mary and baby Jesus, but Joseph is still half done, and I haven't cast on the rest of the cast either. I am alternating working on the nativity with other items because I don't like all the sewing up, so if you count those as wips rather than hibernating projects, that's 4, and that's starting to feel like too much for me. Otoh, I have 15-20 projects I'm ~planning~ to make, not in a wishlist way but an actual plan with yarn and needles bought/put aside for many of them, these are the projects I am thinking about more than the current ones, so they sort of feel like mental wips as well, but I personally do like to only be working on one at a time.
Thanks for sharing! I'm a bit stubborn so I know if I tried to use your method I'd just end up not knitting anything at all haha. Exploding pompoms! Been there! xx
FROG #24 while youre ahead haha <33
And recast in the bigger size
I'm actually having to look back at my list to see what numbers these all are! So glad I made a list. thanks for the input and being here! x
happy is the magic word. you do you. thank you for sharing.
Get better soon soon soon! Looking forward to watching new episodes :)
I love watching your vlogs and am happy to see there is a new one now, but you, Gemma, taking time off for some time is totally understandable. I will just wait. Thanks for sharing your stories here :)
Thank you so much!! Next one will be up by the end of the week :) xx

I definitely understand not wanting to work on the same thing every day. I’m working on a Anker Tee and the Weekender light. Right now I’m on the body in both. Love both but man I needed something else so I casted on some textured socks. I also have a Tunisian hexagon blanket I’m working on. Well, I’m waaay behind. It was a CAL for this year. I’m did 18. I think there are 30 something. I can do one hexagon in 4-5 days if I only work on it on my evenings. But naahh… 🤷🏻♀️😂 So 4 wips for me at this moment but I’m thinking on casting on a cardigan 🤔 We all have to do what brings us joy. After all crafting is supposed to do just that.
Absolutely agree! Enjoy the journey and if you take the scenic route, so what? :) Did you cast on the cardigan? x
Not yet. I’m planning on ripping out a cardigan I crochet over a year ago. It’s finished but I’m not happy with the drape. So I’m down to 3 patterns to pick 1. The next few evenings I’ll start on it.

🤔I would say 45 wips 🤷🏻♀️
I’m also one of the new 1000 and became interested in you from your walk of shame wip video. Very entertaining! My question is “what is your favorite type of item to knit (sweater, sock, hat, something else?) and why?” I’m addicted to sock-making but hope to make a sweater for myself soon as a treat.
Do it! What sweater would you like to make? Happy to provide some entertainment :) ;) xx
I am so glad you went to the Dr. Your cough is sounding better. Happy you are on the mend. In no time it will be gone. I am working in the Innsbruck scarf for one of my advents. I have another advent I am opening and trying to decide how to proceed. I think that one I will be opening all 24 before I choose - I know its going to be the Gracious Sweater. I am also 1/3 done with my shawl collar on my Writer's Block. I would like to get that done sometime this week. That will make 7 of the 10 WIPs I picked to finish before Christmas. Enjoy the days leading up to Christmas with Robin. They grow ever too quickly. xx
Thank you! It has definitely helped - couple more days of the antibiotics and the Dr has warned me I might cough until Xmas but at least I can breathe!! You're smashing your project list - well done! xx
@@TheMidnightDyery As I am typing this I just finished my Writer's Block - just to weave in some ends. Then I think onto my Bistro Shirt or my little advent socks ... decisions decisions. xx
So glad you chose to rest. I discovered you recently and love your natural style and humor! Robin is a doll, of course, and your husband’s interactions with him wonderful to see. I also was happy to hear you are connected to Jude. I discovered his vlogs while going thru cancer treatment and I felt so much for him and his journey with his parents. What a lovely person and was so glad to see him pop up again with his Scottish cottage adventure. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. BTW your WIP video made me feel better about my (unknown number) WIPS. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Ah thank you! I hope you're all free from the big C now? It's a tough path to tread. Yes we're blessed that Jude is an important part of our family. ❤ Very happy I could help alleviate any worry about your WiP pile! :) I consider it a public service I offer haha x
@ The big C is in the rearview mirror! Thanks for asking….
Glad to hear it xx
