Mesa boogie 50 caliber plus Metallica tones

Mesa boogie 50 caliber plus recorded using a sm57 going into a focusrite interface, recorded with three tracks
Shit needs active pickups, otherwise the tone is fantastic.
Great Sound \m/
Love the LP. 🤘🏻
Ye probably recording with an iPhone isn't exactly the best way for capturing a tone, it makes it all so squished like the worst Metalzone would do.
how do you balance the EQ settings on the amp with the GE-7 settings?

@@Metalicker69 ha!
Mids, who needs em? This rocks dude
this is so BADASS
Hey man do you think you could give an exact like bideo of all the settings and gear
Pretty impressive man. I’ve honestly never heard a demo of the 50 cal I really liked till now.
What (2) power tubes and preamp tubes are you running in v1-v5 positions? That will play a huge role in the tone as well.
This tone is unreal. What guitar are you playing for this?
Sentings
Sounds like there is no mids
hell yes! Love this tone!
Sounds awesome brotha - keep sending it🤙🏼
What cabinet/speakers are you using?
Ampeg 4x12 loaded with g12t75s
I put the High gain set of tubes from Eurotubes in mine. From Eugene Oregon
Are you using an EQ in the loop or front?
bro absoulutley annihilated those mids
Amazing sound, Jeremy! Help me,please.. Can I get a similar sound from Mesa Formula Preamp? I can buy it at a good price, but some people say it's not capable for a heavy sound..Even like Metallica, for example.. Maybe you have used it.. Is it true in your opinion? Thanks in advance
that chug is brutal thats fking awesome
speechless !! what a sound !! (and a I am fan of the late 90s metallica sound) it is perfect
Need a Marshall for it too.
This is great for playing alone, but there's too much bass in this tone if you've got a bassist playing along, too.
very good, but what people often miss about sad but true is that the main contributor of the chunky sound came from the baritone guitar they used, it really makes all the difference.
Well you can't really hear it in the mix because it's in the same register as the bass
@@andtuningforall4957 it makes all the difference though trust me
and also the 8-tracked rhythm guitar with different rigs on each track
awful lol
I wanted you to keep going. :/
I have vintage Celestion G12T-75 and vintage Dirty Fingers in a '84 Explorer. Tried this with a Mark III, it sounded crap. Caliber and the MK III must be quite different.
That downpicking is sooo fat! Love it!
Sounds good… what speaker was used in this video?
I was using the stock c90 in this video
Das alotta sliders
why is there no bass guitar in this? wait…
I can get really close with the hx stomp, that really says something tbh but there's flub I'm missing I think ._. its so thick, so juicy there's just something about tubes that can't be done perfectly just yet. Tubes are just something else, somehow organic.
Screen shot engaged.....

It's truly amazing my friend! That tone is EXACT to Metallica's Black Album. But, truly, where do you think the real "magic" is coming from - the amp itself, the cabinet speaker array, the EQ settings, or the way you're mic'ing it? I hear an interesting yet slight "hollow" or tunnel-like effect on the tone, which sounds like a very slight "room reverb", but I'm guessing that's just ambient from mic'ing it. What do you think? After 30 years of "tone creating" myself, I've found an odd thing: You'll be messing with an amp for hours and hours, changing setting, etc. get it where you think it's perfect, but then come back the next day and it sounds different! LOL! George Lynch (the Tone Master of 80's Hair Metal) used to say, "Yeah, see, once you get it perfect, the Tone Gremlins get into the amp overnight and change things. That's why it sounds different the next time you tinker with it." Sad But True! (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun!),.
Honestly it’s hard to say where the real “magic” is coming from because everything that is used plays an important role involved in the tone. I like to get as close as I can with just the amp and speaker cab and my 7 band eq in the room, and then when I’m happy with what I hear with my ears, I try to match what I hear when I record it. And then from there I just fine tune to my liking. Yes I agree that the sound changes slightly, Amps can have a mind of its own at times. I really got into recording about 4 years ago and a lot of what I know so far is just from trial and error.
That tunnel-like effect your hearing I believe is from the room mic, I may have mixed in a little to much room mic in with the other close mic tracks
Album self destuck but IS whath the titr
That's the "Master of Puppets" album tone pretty much nailed Bro! Thanks for posting. 👍P.S. - James Hetfield was using a Seymour Duncan INVADER pick up. If you listen to samples of that pick up online, you can hear how it did in fact effect the tone.
would this get lost in a band mix if your scoop your mids that much?
Yt algorithm has blessed me yet again
pray for this man. He has a very rare and serious medical condition that causes irreversible loss of mids. Many do not know about it, but it affects dozens of metal players each year and we need to raise awareness of this problem so metal mixes can improve.
Nay kind sir, it’s righteous.🤙🏼 - we pray for the the redemption of your misguided soul🙏🏼
Absolutely loved mine. Got in a pinch and gave it away.!! I was a 15 year old shredder pulling all these kickass tones outta me. First time that I realized a good sound will inspire you to new heights:
Hey, I just found this video. You’re getting a decent sound. I do similar stuff. What kind of mic and adapter do you use for your iPhone?
I was using a single sm57 into a behringer umc1820 connected to my iPhone and I’m using garage band
@@Metalicker69 okay ✅
Insane,Such a nostalgic sound!
love this amp
The G12T-75 is so underrated. Same with the G12-65. Great video.
This is extremely scooped, Sounds Great but i dont know if it will fit well in a band or a mix
Would sound so much better with mids on 7
